So when will DAoC be free to play?

The population is almost hitting Shadowbane levels.  When do you think Mythic will make the game free to play?

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

    Mythic will kill the servers before they ever make it free to play. Just the way it is.

    That should be... EA... not Mythic.

     

    DAoC was already at a level that EA would have shut a game down when they bought Mythic.  Earth and Beyond actually had slightly more players (before they announced it would be shut down in 9 months or however many month warning they gave).

    They bought Mythic for the WAR license... and kept DAoC up.. well it would look bad to share holders to pay for a company and then immediantly shut down the only MMO they actually had up and running.

    I played DAoC a long time... but I don't ever see it being free to play.  Especially after EA paid 84x MILLION for Bioware and then immediantly started consolidating/shutting down studios.  (they claimed some studio's were not making enough money.. I'm sure paying out close to a billion dollars for bioware helped profits along..)

    anyway sorry for the ramble.. short answer.. never (other than the Emu servers)

    Well DAOC has more subscribers than Vaguard or what E&B had.  They won't ever make it F2P.  It would be better for them, and for the game, to just close it if it came to that point.

    EA is the same  company that has kept UO running all these years.  DAoC still has more players than that game, I don't think it's going any time soon.

    I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

    I have stated this before, and I will do so again now :P

    I think it would be a good idea for Mythic to make DAOC F2P to players who have active WAR accounts (when it comes out). That way, DAOC can be a vacation of sorts to players who get burnt on WAR after a while. Players can have a different game to play and fight in while Mythic keeps the PLayers for themselves and they dont go to other on-mythic games. After a while and some rest time,  players can return to WAR/. Its Win Win

    DAOC is getting very little investment.It is a cash cow. It will be ridden into the sunset.As soon as it turns unprofitable I see the lights being turned off.

    I cant say DAOC is a cash cow.... if u check better the number of players is not more than 2000... how can that be a cash cow :) ? but DAOC rulz :P
