recently i was introduced to this band called STS9 (AKA sound tribe sector nine) when i was driving around with my brother, and i was really into the music, and it sounded like nothing i have ever heard before, it was amazing (to me). so when i got home i borrowed the CD's and listened to them for the entire night non stop. the next morning, i got up and turned on my CD player and listened to them some more and more through out the day. same thing next day. the next day i had to fly back to school, and couldent use my ipod for a while, and during that, all i wanted to do was listen to STS9. the music is like drugs. . when im sad or depressed i just listen to STS9 and im instantly happy, and when i dont listen to them for about a whole day, all i want to do at the end of the day is listen to STS9 for a while. this music is even making me want to experiment with drugs, as some of you know, alot of people who listen to STS9 do some drugs to 'enhance' the experience while litening to them. i think the only thing that ive listened to i the passed week and a half that wasnt STS9 was Dj Shadow, which i was introduced to the same way as STS9. so im just wondering if there is such thing as a music addiction, or even if any one else listens to STS9 and also has this happening to them.
ps. im listening to STS9 as i am typing this thread

Simple answer to your question "is it possible to get addicted to music?"....yes you can...ever hear of Beatlemania??? Plenty of addicts there back in the day.
Of course. Just ask any metal fan I seriously need a good metal fix everyday. Otherwise I'd probably go banana.
i used to listen to nothing but metal and never had this experience. this music makes me want to be a hippie
Edit: i showed them to a couple of my friends and there having the same thing happen to them as did for me. ill list some of my favroite songs for you to check out. While they aren't my cup of tea, a co-worker of mine was obsessed with STS9 as well. Try listening to the Disco Biscuits and/or Thievery Corporation if you like STS9, fairly similar music.
In response to your question, yes.

Definately gonna check it. It takes time for me to like new music though... specially if it's in a genre I usually don't listen to.
Quick note on the metal part: Well, everybody is different
I am a total music junkie 'specially stuff by muse.
Music is the safest yet most addictive drug there is ('cept maybe caffiene, that stuff rocks).
