Games Don't Have Icons?

Alright, well, if it means anything anymore, I'm on Vista. I recently installed Gears of Wars on this computer and had a bit of trouble starting it. I ended up not being able to start it with the desktop icon it gave me. I have to go into the Programs files folder, find the GoW startup and when I play, I have to open as administrator. So, I have the little icon for "start up" not the skull, GoW, icon.
Now, just a minute ago, I installed that EQII trial and instead of the purple icon it's supposed to have, it gave me the same icon that my GoW has. That default windows icon.
These are the last two games I installed. Anyone know how to fix this? Is it gonna be permanent?

My friend has vista and he got the correct icons (even if they are extremely big...). And there my vista knowledge starts and ends.
