"We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being," says the network, which carries her series Zoey 101.
A rep for Spears was not immediately available for comment.
The network statement follows Internet reports that Spears's mother had confirmed the pregnancy to OK! magazine.
Spears, a high school junior who is 10 years younger than Britney, had until now escaped much of the attention about her personal life that has surrounded her sister.
Jamie Lynn stars as a schoolgirl at the fictitious Pacific Coast Academy in Zoey 101, finishing its third season next month as one of Nickelodeon's highest-rated shows.
She recently told the Associated Press that didn't have a serious boyfriend.
"I kind of just keep my options open," she said. "I have a bunch of friends that I always hang out with, a bunch of guy friends."
She added that her priority was to focus on her real-life schoolwork before considering any additional TV series or film roles.
"I'm going to try to graduate before I do anything else," she told AP.

A source tells us the interview, which hits stands tomorrow, is six pages and is on the record with Jamie Lynn and her mother. She tells the mag that the father is Casey Aldridge, who she has been dating for some time and first met at church. Brit's younger sister, star of Nick's "Zoey 101," says she's keeping the baby.
Sources tell us that she has not yet told her older sister. Well, she knows now.

I LOL'ed IRL when I read Enigma's reply. This whole story is funny, because her sister just got confirmed Pregnant about last week. 3rd FRIKKIN baby. Brit can't keep her legs closed, yet it's sad to see her sister go down the same route. You would think that such a star would be on the pill to prevent such an "accident" right? You know she cried about it.

You are possibly correct. The age of consent in Louisiana is 17 and She is 16 and he is 19. However, any crafty lawyer who was giving advice to the two of them would claim that they had intercourse in another state where the age of consent is 16.

Show of hands: Who here wasn't having sex by the time they were 16? Yeah, you three probably STILL haven't gotten laid. The rest of us had learned "the facts of life" long before that and spent quite a bit of our empty adolescent and teenage lives obsessing about it. Maybe that's the problem here. Maybe you're just pissed because a 16 year old girl gets laid more often than you do.
Keep in mind that it wasn't that long ago that people were getting married and starting families at about the age of 15 or so. Go ask your great grandmother how old she was when she got married. It's kind of funny that we've extended childhood way past the time that a persons body has fully matured.
