Zu online?

xenogiasxenogias Member Posts: 1,926

I know its in beta but how is it so far for thoes of you that have/are playing it? I am looking for a f2p to keep me occupied till some of the new ones are being released. WoKF is somewhat fun but there are some issues I have with it (such as quests not being marked on npc's unless you talk to them). Wondering how you guys find the gameplay/classes in ZU.

    Here's my two cents...

    The Good

Graphics (assuming you like cell-shaded, anime-style) are fantastic and work well even on low-end/older systems. If you liked Genndy Tartakovsky's Samurai Jack, you'll love this.

Leveling is very, very fast. Tons of quests, and most give an abundance of XP, items and/or currency. Most are also relatively easy.

Controls are fast and straightforward. Fully supports both WASD and mouse-click movement. UI is clean and intuitive.

Best of all, you can "auto-trace" to a destination. What that means is you can click on a name in your quest journal, NPC list, or the map itself, and your character will start walking there on its own. There's no need to search endlessly for that obscure mission giver or named mob, ever.

There's lots of events. Seems like there's at least one GM organized event running at all times.

    The Bad

Very limited character customization. You get a few faces to choose from, hairstyles and colors. That's about it. Even gender is predetermined by class. If you want to play a stealthy, rogue-like character, you're going to be a female Moonmaiden. No choice. Also, character build customization is fairly limited.

    The Ugly

Two words: Open PvP. And when I say open, I mean open.

There are three factions in the game, and they're all at war. But honestly that doesn't matter, because people in your own faction are just as likely and capable of killing you.

Players up to ninety (90!) levels greater than you can attack/kill you without penalty. Anywhere. Even in towns. In fact, if they are of another faction, they'll be rewarded for doing so. The practice of higher level players specifically targeting low level players and camping spawn points for easy kills is fairly common. And there's little recourse besides hoping that someone of even higher level comes around to run them off.

Also, when you are killed (regardless if it's from PvP or PvE), there's a chance that you might drop equipment or something from your inventory. Even cash-shop items are not exempt from this.

The good news is that IGG seems to be making an effort to bring some balance to the chaos.

As of today's patch, they've introduced several guard NPCs around spawn points, travel hubs, and city borders. It's undetermined if this is a permanent change or merely a short-term solution, but at least it's encouraging. To say the least, the PK enthusiasts aren't happy about this.

TY for the reply, its just about done downlaoding so I will give it a shot. I dont like low level gank pk but if they are trying to stop it cool. I do like open pvp to an extent but not to the point where its rewarded to kill noobs lol. Anyway the fast leveling is definitly a plus for me.  Especially since odds are this is just a time passer untill TCoS or WAR comes out :)

Its the amusement park that Lord British claimed to be making ages ago.  The pace of leveling depends solely on you, meaning you can go to 60 or 70 two game sessions. Or you can slowly do the storyline missions , flow through the side quests and get to 60 in a couple game sessions.

At 30 the fun begins , the rides , Question and answers  to dancing for your clan for xp. They got decent crafting called refining , basically free 6k to 7k a day with the trade/travel feature, pets that are cute buffs, and guild vs guild with great rewards (including afk leveling lol)

Game is pretty straight  A to B on classes , called clans.  You dont get much choice in appearance , you can turn off cell shading. But over all its not bad for f2p.

Strange but true fact they have 24/7 live support. I mean people who speak english and can be helpful 8/10 times.  Huge debate on the fate of PVP , and ganking.

The forums is good to get started , this guy Trollbasher ranges on being insanely hostile to being insanely insane. But if youre american , this is no different than you see at Burger King O.o

I just  downloaded today and I'm loving it!!

Like the above posters says it has  a grea visual style if you like anime kind mmo. But in my opinion this game looks better than any other anime mmo out there. The leveling is really fast witch is freacking awesome . I love the controls they're really smooth compare to any other that i've played is just like wow except than you can't steer with your mouse :( . They also have a talent tree witch is one of the coolest thing is most mmo i've played like diablo 2, wow, silkroad etc... The only thing I haven't like so far is that I haven't learn the teleporter and riding things from the npcs since there so many npc that can teleport you and that is a beta I hope I can keep my character when they release :D

anyway, i'm now lvl56, what i want to do now is to know how about the saying ' CALAMITY" i don't know what it really is.

maybe, it's not as interesting as wow, but its graphic is quite well and the auto trace. any the music is good. the action is well designed, kungfu is wonderful. sun warrior is the best character, i think. *=*

but the quest system should be improve, i think. i like pvp, even my character is always killed by others

pay for it? really? is it very expensive? bones? silver or gold?

  • ThraliaThralia Member Posts: 219

i quit zu long ago but i know for sure that u dont pay a shit for calamity quest.

its basicly a 4 part quest u have todo in a special instance u tet teleportet in.

moonmaiden  is easiest class for that quest cause they can get invisible for a long time etc.

  • freeleefreelee Member Posts: 102

my character is  swordman, i've no time play it recent days, my level still 56 =.=

    is that very difficult?

  • ThraliaThralia Member Posts: 219

u get calamity at 60-63 quest. do it with 65.

    alsone..its easy basicly

there are blindspots even if some smartasses say in test 4/4 are no blindspots.

there are..i talked about the 2 highest ranked maiden on server bout that. ( i was  numero #3)

u have all time n the wordl..read questlog carefully and  try to figure out those lightning things.

and stay o ur way! every class has its own colored way. look on map and dont leave it

if u die.. do do the mistake to pay money and ressurect at same place.

better run back to that place ..its a short distance.

I totally agree with you on that Point .... i wish and i really hope they will change this fact until the beta ends...
the rest of teh game is good fun i think ..it`s almost impossible in this game that you stand somewhere without anything to do ..there is always a bunch of quests and things to do..

I really like the pet system in this game ... well i have not that much of experience in those kind of games ..i only played FLYFF before and the pet system there is in my opinion only to get out our money in the cash shop ^^

anyway i think ZU ONLINE will be a part of my free time for a longer time period ^^
