Won a contest and now I'm disqualified? Thanks for nothing IGG!

It would be GREAT if some of the companies that are offering contests on this site would clearly, and in VERY BIG letters state that they only want certain countries applying for thier contests.

The IGG Holiday Giveaway hosted a contest over the holidays.  It appears I won!  I go to click on my link, I give my information and BAM! You are disqualified!  WTF is that about?!?!

I can only figure it's my country (Canada) and believe me, I can appreciate that, but it would be great if you told me first before I got my hopes up.

Needless to say, it's left a bad taste in my mouth and will refrain from purchasing and/or using any of your products in the future.  If I'm not good enough for freebies, then you are not good enough for my money.

Are you sure you were on time with accepting the price? You only got 24 hours to accept.

You only have 24 hours before they give the prize to the next-in-line winner.

If you are only complaining now, I would suspect you missed your chance to claim your prize.

This requirement to claim within 24 hours is very clearly stated in the contest rules.

By they way, have you asked why you were disqualified?

24 hours?  Wow!  So let me get this straight...

I leave to go on course with the military, so I'm offline for about 36 hours...

I win in the meantime, but I'm disqualified?

Again, if this is the case, then it should be made clear in BIG LETTERS!  If I'd known, I would have made other arrangements.

If I'd known and missed it, then I'd be humbled right now and admit I messed up.

Anyhow, I'm just bitter now because, as I'm sure you'd feel the same way, to win something only to lose over a bloody technicality is just horse crap.

Anyhow, what's done is done, but lets just say if this was supposed to be an advertising scheme, it backfired.

all of their contests have the 24 hour rule that i know of, havent seen one without it yet. straight from the rules page----

The winners will be notified by email within 5 minutes of their member number being selected randomly as a winner. This notification will arrive at the outside email address they used to create their MMORPG.com account as well as their private MMORPG.com mailbox. Winners will have to confirm their prize within 24 hours by visiting the web page described in the winner email instructions. Winners are confirmed on a first come - first serve basis. Only the original recipient of the prize email is eligible to win. Winners will be required to respond within 24 hours to claim their prize. If after this time no names have been confirmed, we will disqualify remaining tickets and select the remaining winners by a method of our choosing.

    That's correct.

The contest is for regular, constant participants on the site.

And it is very clearly stated several times in the text.

Check the next one that comes along.

Sorry you won, and missed the pickup.

I'm sorry, but what price would you have when you accepted it?

Unfortionately what they say is true. Really sucks you missed out on your prize. Maybe next time?

I do think they should increase it to 48 hours, but that's just my opinion. I think 24 hours is a bit short. Even for someone that is a frequent visitor of the site. I know my internet has been down for a full 24 hours before and i'm here daily. Would suck to miss a prize because of a rare occurance, which could happen to anyone. Then again it's not fair for me to request such a thing after all it is free stuff and it's a first come first serve. So guess all ya can really do is just suck it up. Sucks =(

to the OP don't feel bad. I missed out too.  I am on here daily but don't always log in. And to my surprise I missed it as well.    I literally face palmed myself.  Haha

I am kinda shocked I actually had a winning ticket to begin with because of how many people are on this site. .   Guess its time for lightening to strike me now.   /shrug.  its not a big deal to me,  grats to the winners.
