DDO as a foundation for other D&D games

In your opinion, would the DDO engine serve as a suitable platform for other D&D online games? Things like Dark Sun online, Forgotten Realms online, Planescape online etc.?

I wouldn't see why not, the DDO combat engine is what has me hooked anyways. I enjoy Eberron, it's different, however I would also enjoy most the other D&D realms also (not so sure bout Spelljammer, but that's just a matter of personal taste).
The combat part of DDO is awesome. for sure it can be used.
