Hiya!

After playing Anarchy Online for two years I left for good, since the community on the German server grew smaller and smaller and people I grew to like and have fun with just left subsequently. So there were times I just sat around endlessly to wait to gather a team. With Lost Eden came more or less forced PvP grind for items and that was the nail in the coffin to me.

Now I tried several other stuff, but couldn't find anything that made just want to stick around, or caught me. Mostly it was rather the nice grafics, or the curiosity you have when you join a MMO for the first time. Some I even liked, but knowing the grindwall will come sets me back a little (to me grind is not neccesarrily the need to kill x mobs, but the felt numbness of doing it for nothing but watching the XP bar and hoping it will move at least a little, so doing it for quests... no prob. Getting a reasonable shar of XP, so you can at least see or feel some progress... no prob. The gap between levels, equip and new stuff without quests and just going out there hunting without a purpose... big prob ^^).

My interests are pretty different, so I like bright and cheerfull worlds and play (Fiesta and I like DOMO), but even more dark and eerie settings. Not much horror games out there it seems, though. I loved the look and feel of 2 Moons, it was dark, eerie and had some end-time flavour, so I tried it out een though it had open PvP. Got me to play it for a while and then hit that little nice button called "uninstall" after being PKed.

So it's easy to see: I hate open PvP, enforced PvP and PK makes me hit that "X" in my browser when it comes down to choose a game. I'm not into PvP, but don't mind to take part if I want to... but only if and when I want to. So no forced PvP (neither by PK, nor by having to PvP for items) for me.

As I have to work in shifts the game should also appeal to people who do not have time to play 6h/day, but also to those who can under circumstances only play one to three hours a day. The community shouldn't be too static (problem for many old games. The old players hat changes, whenever a change is announced there'll be plenty of people complaining and mourning) and not too high brow (I don't like people tu´rning games into sciences, dishing out stats, lecturing about perfect builds/ equip, spending hours to setup a perfect party and calling everyone not on their page "noob"). Being able to go solo some time would be nice too (Usually I find a party just 20 minutes before I have to log off).

Umm, wuite some writing and I doubt there's something that fulfills all above points. :D

- So all in all I'm looking for: Either a dark and eerie game (usually feels more intense and gives you more of feeling your char is needed, opposed to a city where everyone is happyly minding their buisness XD), perhaps even horror, or bright and cheery (usually has the more casual appeal).

- No forced or needed PvP... PK: No go!

- Nice community

- Not so much "felt grind" (see above)

- Playable for casual gamers with not sooo much time at hand

- Innovation or orignal concepts can't hurt ^_^

- Individualism for your char

- RP can be nice, but isn't a must

Those points are pretty much in order of imprtance. So anything you'd say I should have a look at?

Thanks for hints, recommendations and so on.

Cheers

    I played many MMO's WoW, EQ2 FFX11,D&D Online,LOTRO beta,TR beta, and a few free ones.

WoW  is good. but I would like to tell you of a game that was pushed to the side as it had a bad release about a year and a half ago, and that game is D&D online.

    D&D Online is :

Well populated now and finding groups always takes less than 10 min. to find. they have the best LFG Pannal out there.

Very large city so you don't just sit in a tavern like you would think.

yes its all Dungeons but you can pick short or long, you can pick solo or group and you can pick easy med or hard.

It has real time combat along with a very deep action bar. you can switch weapon sets in mid fight .

only 14 levels but they have sub levels so it still takes some time to level.

Dungeons are the best I had seen in any game, each have there own twist to them, from sewers to vampires, most have many traps so you better bring a rogue to disarm them.

Best of all EVERYONE uses voice chat and this makes it sooo much easier.

It has a free trial, the box game is only $15 and if I recall its been a few months but its only $10 a month. with all free updates.
