I've taken a look at those screens and it looks very nice. Think this will be another Tabula Rasa game? I hope not, this looks like it will put some competition on some of the high-end games.

It looks great! I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure! Especially if it stays a skill based game like they say it is, they will get a lot of us SWG vets that have been waiting for another skill based Sci-fi game.

Do the graphics remind anyone else of guildwars factions?

  • alakramalakram Member UncommonPosts: 2,301

    Yeah, it looks good.

Definitely looks interesting. Skill based, looks like they're not ignoring the social aspects, some interesting ideas. I have no idea how far along in production it is however, or when its coming out. I'm hoping it a bit further down the line because I'd love to try it, but I don't want to add a third MMO coming out at the same time that I have to decide between. Oh yeah, and its sci-fi, we're severely lacking in good sci-fi MMOs.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

Hmmm, the game looks good, but the company is a mystery. Its a Bulgarian company with no prior releases. I highly doubt they can survive in the MMORPG market. I hope they will, but doubt it.

    In any case, good luck!

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

yeah kinda, but theres not a lot of screenshots to look at yet , I most of all like the back story to it though. We need more Sci Fi MMOs

Its already riding down the path of doom... With a release date slated for sometime in 2009, the "hype" train has already begun.. Thats probably more than a year of hype that this game will have to live up to.... Not really a good thing....

I think its a good thing, if Earth rise came out this year it wouldnt get the attention it deserves, namely because of games like War, conan and aion give these big budget games there prime time and within a year people will be looking something new and different and by then earthrise will be ready to take them on.

It seemingly came out of nowhere, but I am pleasantly surprised by it. Most of the features that have been listed for it intrigue me, so I will definitely track its progress.

A note to the OP: *ALL* developers are very good at making a game *look* good to a wide variety of people. Every game looks good before it comes out. Hitting the shelves is test.

Graphics for me arent everything, Warcarft has shown me that you can have an original style of your own while not needing the enterprises warp coils strapped to your processor chip. That said its always good to have a nice level of detail and love put into the graphical side of things, but usually that means you 'strobe' all over the place when trying to do anything on live servers.

I try not to be pessimistic, but since every title post-WoW has been lackluster and for the most part up the snuff and not given what it has promised I now err on the side of caution until I get very relaible information or let it mature for a couple of months then read peoples reviews.

Companies are very fond of blindsiding the public with a truck load of sparkly content in the hopes they can ship out a wretched product, not saying all do, but a few do (which is more then should be).

Anyway, summing up what Im trying to say... those pictures look good but beauty is only skin deep, its the stuff underneath you have to wonder about

Skill-Based.... has Open PvP.... Player looting...

    Hell yeah!

Though I would still prefer Darkfall over this, for the simple fact that I like medieval themes a lot more...

Im hoping Darkfall releases soon anyway...

Would be ironic, however, if this ended up releasing before Darkfall.

    Played almost everything...
    Currently playing nothing...
Waiting for: Darkfall, WAR, Guild Wars 2.

Yeah it's open PvP but they've also said there will be enough high security zones for non-PvPers to advance too, just more slowly since they're skirting around the PvP. I'm very nervous about the reality of open PvP - the last thing I need interfering with my game is some maladjusted kid fresh from Xbox Live corpse-camping me. But I'll give it a shot, and hope the community is more mature than what I'm imagining.

Otherwise, everything about Earthrise is sounding like what I'm looking for (finally) in an MMO.

Also, you can insure your items so they're not lootable... only non-insured gear can be looted by anyone.

That is a good point, but games like that are just poorly designed.

Open PvP is really the only real lasting end game content a game can have except resource grinds, item grinds, or mail man quests.

There are things that can be done about clone camping and player camping in general.  Stealth is the easiest one.  Not letting players track enemy players on their maps or radar.  Not showing enemy players names above their heads like a big neon sign.  Making cloning stations faction based and heavily defended by NPCs and gun towers.  Placing player bounties on PKers.  Introducing a political system into the game that encourages or discourages killing certain players in certain areas.

Maybe you can think of a few too?

As the CEO Atanas Atanasov said - "Earthrise will give freedom to the players to attack anyone they want to in most areas, not without consequences however" in several interviews. If you had only read them.

hmmm i did hence my first post

this game seems to be a ground based copy of eve that is going to be crafted item driven ( which is good player crafted item being the best is important) but full open pvp and item looting very bad and will be nothing but a grief fest full of bots and hackers ill pass on this one and go for a less pvp centric game

This game is clearly not for you then. Though the consequences in pvp and insuring your items so they dont get looted will help other people weary of open pvp.

  • TalynTalyn Member UncommonPosts: 587

I see it all as choice and consequences. You make a choice to adventure in low-security zones, you have to accept the consequences that you may be attacked by other players. You may lose that battle. You make a choice (or forget) to insure your gear, the consequence is if you die your uninsured loot drops to the ground for anyone to potentially take. Hopefully there will also be consequences to those who initiate PvP to make them think if it's worthwhile before attacking, and cut down on the amount of griefing.

With the various degrees of security, I don't know that I consider it "true" open PvP, which is fine by me. I'm not always in the mood for it, and given my days off and play schedule, will likely not always have a band of friends adventuring with me.

I've never done an open pvp style game before, but *so far* I'm actually looking forward to this one.
