I was one of the lucky ones to get my transfer in over the weekend to the PTRs.
The new area is so crammed with people in one little quest area it is horrible with lag.
The mob density on Sunwell Isle is the most in the game.
I think they better make changes or I will skip the first week of doing quests for Sunwell Isle. I'll just do the instances, and hopefully get summoned by a Warlock.

Thats why testing happens before it goes on the real servers.
Yep, bound to happen when they test these things and the whole reason for it. It will of course be the case that the place will be packed when the patch hits too as everyone will want to try out the new content as they do when every patch hits, the whole reason why i generally give it a couple of days before hitting it myself.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
It has always been that way with new stuff. When I started my Blood Elf the night Burning Crusade was released there were so many people that doing the quests were impossible to do. The Ghostlands; however, where loaded with people which made doing some of the harder quests easier (no risk of being attacked by more than 1 mob). I play on a PvP server so going there will be a huge gank-fest until at least a few weeks after release.
90% of the players in the area causing the lag are lvl 1's who swam across the ocean, they cannot go any other place except the camp cus they get killed.... That is the reason for the lag. When it goes live the population should be spread out across the new island, in the new dungeons and doing quests around outlands to unlock the dungeon bosses and grow the city.
All these corpses you see and 99% of the players are lvl 1's
When I logged in this morning, there weren't any level 1s. People just hang out by the quest givers.
People will be doing dailies after this goes live. All the level 70s will be crammed in the quest area getting quests and turning them in. I know that after a while the area will expand, but I can't imagine how it will be at release.
I think there will be at least a hundred people hanging out at the dock/quest givers at release. People will be hanging out at the vendors waiting for groups to fill up, etc.
This is a good concept, but bad in practice. I know that this is to be expected in testing, but the first phase will only be tested once per test server, unless they do a rollback.
You can aid the effort to build the town mostly by doing quests in Outlands, there are about 10 new NPC in shattrath that give you quests, like to collect items from the bloodelves in netherstorm, theres only 2 on the island. So I dont think it will be that crowded, most people who go there will be there for their dungeons.
