Will it Sell?

Theres alot of talk on forums about how Clever the idea is to have a multi platform mobile MMO but to be frank i just cannot see this game selling enough to make it a mainstream MMO.

Aside from this i dont know any gamers who have bought a PPC for gaming. thats just a little absurd. People i know who own PPCs use them for work.

If, for example it was to be released for PC, PS3, and PSP that would make sense. People buy PSPs for gaming therefore the client base would be for people who like to play games. People buy PPCs for work. and i dont know about where anyone else works but if my boss found me playing an MMO on PPC or PC in the office he would not be pleased.

Just playing it on PC of course would defeat the object of their whole idea and in that case it would merely be a substandard MMO.

so Yes of course SOL is Innovative and clever and really a great idea. and Yes it deserves an "A For Effort". but are they going to find enough PPC owners who want to play MMOs?

My 2 cents

I agree with you, the game has a great plan and everything, and it has tried really hard.  I just don't think it has what it takes to become one of those BIG MMO's.  If it keeps working, it has a chance though. For now, the game will be good, but will not be one of the games that evryone is talking about

Your idea really sounds reasonable, but you have forget a fact that our technology is advancing. Compared with the past, we have already owned pc, ppc,pda and so on. I believe these things also were unbelievable 40 years ago, However the dreams of human come true, our work has become more conveniant with these technology, nearly our life and work wouldn't go on with them. Now mmo on pda and ppc also is a high-tech products, certainly not too many people would believe it would succeed. so any critics in the early stage is nonsence, Let's see the time.

Very true. i could not agree more. yes SOL will be pushing new boundaries by moving onto handheld systems and yes this will possibly spark a new trend for "PPC gaming" but i think that this game will not make to the "MEGA-MMO" status.

Give it a few more years when we can have dual core, 2gig of ram, 512mb GPU in  a PPC then watch a torrent of epic titles including MMOs come from the game publishers.

Technology is advancing. and it takes innovative ideas such as this to keep the technological ball rolling but i just cannot see millions of people playing this.

and just to set this straight i dont dislike this game. and i dont dispute that there will be alot of people who want to play this. in my opinion it will never be a "MEGA-MMO".

People don't buy a PC for gaming? Just go look at the mmorpg.com forums and you will see a ton of people that bought a PC for gaming. Try going to the Pub and put up a poll.

Edit: Look at games like Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Everquest, Chronicles of Spellborn, Age of Conan, Aion, etc.

I think you misunderstood. Everyone buys a PC for gaming but noone buys a PPC for gaming.

    PPC = Pocket Personal Computer

like windows mobile... or a PDA

Not, it's others' as well. This game will not sell, because, well, because look at it. No game you can play on a PDA, especially online games will ever sell more than like 2 copies. I say two because that's the amount of people on this board. The OP, who seems legit, and that one other Asian guy who keeps talking to himself through alts in all the topics.

And who probably raised the game's hype to the sky. It might be good and might offer certain entertainment while you are waiting for the bus, but it certainly doesn't deserve that hype that it has right now. Just look at it and look at the other games? How does it compare to Aion or Stargate Worlds?

I wonder who can hype the game so high, it simply cannot be
