The Game is Failing it's Players(Proof)

DrolkinDrolkin Member UncommonPosts: 246

http://www.planettr.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4052&page=2

Take a read through the responses some of the dedicated players have to say about the state of the game and their response to the poor communication from the Devs.

I'm beginning to think the people on the MMORPG forums supporting Tabula are actually Devs or work for NC themselves.

Please reconsider before buying this game, if anything you might wanna hold off buying it for another 5-6 months and see what happens with it.

  • So what?  You act like its the end of the world or something.  Many MMO have these issues.  Anyone who was took a step back and had a sober look at TR should have realized the Dev team did not and does not have a great vision of the overall detail of the game and in general has poor design process with a decent amount of vacilation.

This doesn't mean TR is a bad game, and yes the sort of paid beta feeel will continue, possibly forever.  Does not mean the game is no fun.

Frankly these people are fanbois who were not living in reality and that can only last for a while.  A number of people posting that the game was fun for 3 months are being perfectly honest.  Its not a conspiracy.

The direction of TR's development should have been obvious or at the least seem highly likely to almost anyone playing.  Some people don't mind the lack of development maturity, some do, and many people just constantly make excuse for why the world will really be the way they wish it was.

    Standard MMORPG customer self-delusion.

The game has its good points and its bad points.  And generally its only forum lurkers that seriously demand Dev communication.  A majority of players don't even know where to look for such a thing or really care to do so.

For anyone who likes it as it is then play it.  Its perfectly fine game, just don't expect this Dev group to suddenly make it the perfect MMORPG you envision.   And don't pretend that problems you think are significant will get fixed.  Either accept them or don't buy it.  Caveat Emptor.

Let's all buy sub-par games that don't improve anything!

The state of the game as it is now might have been acceptable 8 years ago. This poor quality should NOT be accepted as a norm, and it's insulting to gamers everywhere that developers continue to crank out this mediocrity.

Bad launch, poor design, and few (if any) developer - community relations. Tabula Rasa is a huge leap backwards in MMOG development and should not be defended.

So please, stop encouraging people to buy this lousy game.

Devs not caring; game is in beta and you pay for it blah blah blah blah

    Lets be honest : t

This game has it share of bugs.

This game DO have devs that care; evey friday its an update of the game.

The game was in late beta at release; it will be pathced up aftear some months

IF you are are in NEED a action sci-fi MMO this is for you.

IF you just WANNA TRY a action sci-fi MMO just wait.

It's just...it's just not a very good game. By that I'm referring to bugs, dev interaction with the playerbase, and the step-backwards of the patching.

Yes, get ready, I'm going to use the word. The word we usually avoid when trying to be non-partisen...doomed.

TR is just not up to snuff, its failing. As with most sub-par MMOs, there will always be a dedicated player base who will never admit it, but TR is not what an MMO should be. One word, well, two..shallow, boring.

Agree with most of what he said, cant believe how fast the game is dieing, but it is, and some people will not admit it. I stuck up for this game from day one, after you reach lvl 50, or even 40 there's no content, and the game slowly kills you off. The high lvl game play in TR is HORRIBLE....i can no longer defend this game with honor. I have to be unbiased and face reality, the game is dieing.

    Sorry..if not already dead..:(

I enjoyed the game for the time it took to get to mid 30's. and i took my time. lot of points through the base defense /offense. Wasn't a bad launch, not overly buggie,  but  as other have said the fun just stops. Not even going to  go into the short comings of this game. As i say Ncsoft lite mmo's .  This is the last one i buy from these guys.

Unfortunately almost every one of the games they had US devs make turned out like this.

Agreed, thier streak isn't looking too hot at this point :

It's a shame too; to have nearly the entire market segment for sci-fi MMO's (besides eve), and to have this much negativity to say about it is just a waste.

I leveled 2 toons to early/mid 30s with the same result. I started for other things to do. The game was a lot of fun 1-30 but after that it's just not the same.

I hear CoH is getting it's leveling curve reevaluated. I remember quiting toon after toon when they hit the 20s, maybe i'll give it a shot when it goes live.

As of now it's just back to WoW for lack of something beter to do.

EDIT: i hate how this forum eats my "enters"

I support the game, but if NCsoft would like to pay me to do so, they are more than welcome.

Yeah it has its problems, but that I can say is that they listen to players.

I'm getting a little sick of the constant negativity I'm seeing on mmorpg.com's TR forums. When City of Heroes first launched, it was lacking and it was difficult to level and people kind of hated the game for the first 6 months, when WoW first launched it sucked for the first year with alot of bugs, crashes, lacking in pvp, etc. TR IMO had one of the smoothest beta-live launches out of all MMOs I've beta tested and played since launch, yes TR is lacking alot of things that keeps long term players in but it has very few bugs, I can count at least 7 missions that are bugged and one of them is a chain (ustor yard/maligo base).

During beta I at first said I wasn't going to buy the game for $50-60 because I wouldn't be in this game for any longer than 2 months, I then got it for $9 the day after Christmas and the live version is quite a bit better than the beta version, though my sub goes up next week, I have doubts I'll reactivate again for a while and will be going back to CoH/V. I'm not leaving on negative terms, I will return again sooner or later.

not many people are playing tr, the game is dying buhu, so what? there is no other game out there right now that i would rather play than tr, there are too many fantasy mmorpgs too similar out there, there is practically no mmorpg with even close to good looking characters and not totally fucked up gameplay out there:

    - i can't play wow, their characters are so fuzzy and polygonpoor that i have to stop playing after an hour because i can't look at my character anymore

    - can't play eq2 because they ruined female movement and the character's don't look too good in the first place

    - can't play eve even though i would love to, but i get tired of the spaceships too fast, not the theme i would like to play in

    - can't play any kind of mass production lineage copy because their devs feel like they have to overuse particle effects like no ones business, apart from that i have no time for a neverending grind like in lineage2, which is the only game of that sort that actually looks ok.

    - can't play guild wars because their characters are grossly out of any proportions and henchman playing and aggro mechanics are so totally out of whack that i can't imagine the devs ever played it.

    - can't play lotro because the models and especially their animations stink, apart from that the whole game is responding very poorly and i have no clue how anyone can play it.

    - can't play vanguard because the character models are totally screwed up and the devs haven't even commented on them since the alpha, which makes me cry.

    - can't play potbs cause i have no fascinations for seafights.

    - can't play cox because it's a loop of doing missions from 1 to 50 and most importantly because i am not happy with just one of the powerset combinations possible, even though cox actually has good looking character models.

    - can't play d&d because i got tired of it rather fast when i first played it and the restriction of classes and feats keeps me from trying it again.

    - can't play anything older than what i've mentioned because the graphics are too old.

    - can play tr sometimes because the character models actually look ok, like the armor and weapons, the combat system is something different from all other games and even though people feel like saying the gameplay is slower than in other mmorpgs, it is faster and apart from that it is not set in a fantasy world, omgz.

oh yea, and the leveling at least until the mid 30s is in no way any more boring than any other mmorpg, quests and grinding like everywhere else, no high end content but just killing mobs all around? oh my what do you do in other mmorpgs? right you loop killing the same stuff all the time, oh wow doing 5 instances every day is different from that? guess what, it's not, raiding the same stuff all over again, different? nope, apart from that raiding like always takes many months after release to even start being anything.

I went to the link provided by the OP looking for the 'proof' but all I found was a few whiney posts by people that need to get a life.

A bit like the OP really.

Then you have yourself to blame, because people such as myself and other who were not rampant haters told people exactly what the state of the Devs was.

TR is a fine game if you are the sort of person who doesn't mind immature development.  If do mind that and you bought then you are the one to blame because information was out.

In fact I said exactly this in the post above and then this guy think I am actually encouraging peopel to buy.

Seriously you have yourselves to blame.  TR is fine for what it is.  You just don't like what it is and then complain about buting when multiple people such as myself told you exactly what it iwas.

So booohooo.  Yes it is a whine.  Nothing much has changed since release.  I declined to buy this game because the development is immature.  I said so before release.  But the game is largely bug free, and fairly fun.

I don't feel sorry for you or anyone else who regrets buying this game because myself and other gave an accurate account of both the pros and cons.  And the fact you did not listen did not mean there are no pros.

And the fact that there a cons to the game and I mention the pros does not mean I am encouraging people to buy it.

This culture of irrational hatred is getting stupid and old.

Presonally I find the game stable, fast, fun. So I am happy to promote the game to anyone who asks - with the proviso that they really need to try it for themselves before buying. But thats my mantra on any game - try before you buy.

I play with a couple of friends who have been playing WOW for years. They tell me they can never go back to WOW as its such a time waster.

Almost every time I come here, I'm reminded of the old saying, 'opinions are alike a-holes. Everybody has one, and most of the time they stink'. Well, here's mine. FWIW, I'm playing (and enjoying) the game.

Limited dev access? I actually prefer it this way. They are developers, not PR. Basically, whenever someone says they want more access to devs, I read this as 'I want them to take more time away from actualy working on the game to deal with every goofball fanboi and hater request that comes down the pipe'. If I was a dev and lurked here (and I bet a lot of them do), I wouldn't respond to most posts myself.

Lack of EG content? I can't really speak to that, since I haven't maxd out a character yet, but from my understanding, MMOs by thier very nature shouldn't really have an 'end'. I just hope they don't go the WoW route and make any EG content so damn hard that only 5% of the people playing can even get to it (seriously, have you ever even been to the Black Temple? Do you know anyone personally who has?)

Crafting? Yeah, I'll admit, that's kinda goofy. I don't even bother with it, but I've still got a footlocker full of things like Nucleotides and Pharmaceuticals that I'm scared to throw away in case I need them later. They need to wipe the slate clean here and try again (woo hoo, I made a pun!).

Like I said, right now I'm enjoying it. It's entirely possible that two months down the road I'll have progressed enough to where the game just isn't fun any more; if that happens, I'll admit it was fun for a while, pack it up, and move on. There are enough MMOs out there that no one should feel like they are 'stuck' with a game. Vote with your dollar, and take your money somewhere else.

Evil will always win, because Good is dumb.
