UO for a bit, I just didn't have the time to really appreciate that game so I moved on after a couple months of it. Then Everquest came out, and I almost didn't make it out of college because of that one Good times.
Sorry, couldn't resist mate. Please don't say it was long ago though, you're making me feel old :-P...now fetch me my mana prunes and cane of walking +5.

AOL had some gems, not sure if they would be considered pure MMO's though. So my first was either the text based mmo called "Dark Gate" (I think that was what it was called - it had Dark and Gate in the title), or the Battletech one (where everyone bitched if you did head shots on the Banshee Mechs, or leg shots on the Catapult Mechs).
I wish I could say AOL's Neverwinter Nights, but my IBM 486 machine wouldnt handle the graphics for some reason, lol. Ah, the ol' 486 machines...what a trip down memory lane.
My very 1st mmo was runescape ,but I only played it about 3 days. i only played it a week though. WOW was the one that kept me going for about 2+ years, so i say that offically though it was wow.
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. Playing EVE Online and AOC. Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD
Everquest but only played for like a month or two around 2000 i kept getting lost in the woods so i quit the game but the first MMORPG i played for a long time SWG's about 3 years.
I don't know if Runescape should count as a MMO, but I skipped that period (which lasted for about half a year) and went directly on to the real MMOing; which in this case meant that I picked up WoW.
EQ for me. Interesting to see how few votes there are for WoW as their first game. Enforces the impression that these forums mainly host pretty opinionated veteran players. Could use some more votes there though, of course. :-)
My first multiplayer environment was a text adventure called cave, which was on my school BBC micro network. It was probably based off collosal cave, but it had multiplayer elements such as two people having to be in the room at the same time in order to operate pressure switches and so on - it enforced teamwork. Now that I think of it it was probably a sneaky educational game/tool.
UO was my first graphical MMO
Forum signatures are stupid and annoying. I've turned mine off.
I started with EQ. There is one MMORPG I regret not trying after I heard so many great things about it and that was Star Wars Galaxies. I have heard the horror stories though how Sony has ruined it, so I guess I wish I could have tried it in it's good days.
my first MMO was Ragnarok. played it for the longest time. eventually i got bored and went around trying games like Anarchy and WoW. i now HATE WoW though, waiting for AO to get its graphic update.
DAOC for me and yes you will always remember your first MMO man what great times..then pciked up GW and SWG played SWG for about 5 months till NGEs then it was GW for a good nine months account has been active for 2 years tho

Lineage 1 for my first MMO, and after about 6 months I left and played DAOC for the next 2.5 years (with a brief interlude with Shadowbane)

My first MMO was SWG Pre-cu!! I started in OCT '03
Ultima Online allmost 8 years ago, and i still play it hehe!
Playing: League of Legends!
SWG was my first game, but that was a good while back when the game was good. To bad I will never play that game again.

Dark Ages but quickly moved on to Nexus TK back in 98 or 99.
Nexus ran a bit better on my pc than Dark Ages so I stuck with that game. lol

Currently Playing: Guild Wars 2
Legend of Mir was my first.
But it wasnt untill DAoC that I became an addict .
Earth & Beyond ) (sure do miss it)
Lineage 2 close beta
Wasnt so interested in mmorpgs at that time but still applied to the beta because i liked the graphics
have played tons of mmorpgs after that
Same, same. One of the true greats that died before it's time.

Runescape, if one hour counts. But FFXI would be the first MMO I truly played.
Ultima Online but only for about a month. Final Fantasy 11 is more like my first since I played that for about 2 years.
