If anyone is looking to buy this game.. You can find the CE on ebay starting at 99 cents from overstock sellers. I picked up 4 copies for between 4.50 and 7.50. It seemed too good to be true, so i waited for them to arrive to post about it. Brand news, sealed, special edition... even free shipping. If you're interested. check it out.

That does not strike me as a ringing endorsement of this game.....
My friend just bid on one, lets see how it goes.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were a marketing strategy to get people to buy and play the game...
Get over it Garriot, you failed on this one.

It's all about supply and demand. Stores are still selling the regular version of the game for 40 bucks... bu apparently they made way more collector's editions that they could sell. So now it is getting sold as overstock.
For what it's worth, I am really enjoying the game so far, and having all the cool stuff that comes in the CE makes it even better.

If only the potential in Tabula Rasa to be a PvP paradise was unleashed....

I saw copies of regular TR on the web for as little as $.99 as well. And I believe supply in demand is correct, nobody wants it.
If stores are selling it at $40, I doubt they are selling that many, when they can be had online for a couple dollars.
The friends I have that used to play TR have all quit. Got almost the same take as Pirates of the BS, initially fun, visually appealing, but limited in some very major ways, especially lacking depth, that prevent someone from playing for an extended period.
I cant guess how many copies they are selling.. but gamestop.com and bestbuy.com both have it listed at 39.99, it's 49.99 at walmart.com... they also have the ce there for 69.99.. Guess I saved a ton of cash, I got 4 copies for under 30. All the doom and gloom about how bad the game is cant make it worth less than 5 bucks to me.

That's what I'm saying, man. Now I can get myself a copy and get copies for my friends so they have no excuse not to play. 5 bucks = failure? Maybe in the future, but not right now. Right now I see a steal!
The game might be progressing more slowly than players would like, but I guarantee these guys will sell every single copy.
Edit: I just bought 3 of them. I got one for me and one for each of two friends who live across the country. The game may not be spectacular, but playing with my buds at these prices is worth it. It's now 10-15$ per copy due to massive demand, but still one hell of a deal!

Yes usually selling out things that you don't need any more or that no body wants is a sign that time for that thing has jet to come or a very good marketing plan.
I didnt see WoW for 5$ and its how old now? (btw i hate WoW)
My wife works at Target and is in charge of price change (price cuts and clearancing). At one point she had a clearance endcap of games and other various electronic devices and half a shelf was dedicated to TR (about 15 copies) and was 50% off. It's currently at it's 75% markdown for $12.50 with only 8 copies left. As tempted as I am to score a deal on a game, the thought of the retail purchase being less than the subscription doesn't sound well for such a new MMORPG. In addition to the fact that the store won't be selling them any longer after they go.
You really can't go wrong at that low a price. I agree, sales of this game must have been terrible for the price to already be so low, but so far I am having a blast with it. I am only at level 11, so I guess the game could turn to crap further down the road... but right now it is a lot of fun. I am just barley peeking out of the first zone, and i certainly didn't have time to get bored with the content in it before the missions started leading me out in to the world. I have only even been in one of the several instances in the wilderness zone and it was pretty kick ass too.
The game does a decent enough job of laying a shooter shell on an RPG. It isn't real FPS action, but it gets the job done. It's fas and action packed, and I look up at the bad guys instead of down at my action bar. It's pretty cool that you are in the middle of a giant war between the two factions of NPCs, there is always a lot of action and the sound of war all around you.. the base defense and assaults are great. I certainly got my five bucks worth out of this game the first time I was standing at the Landing Zone and it got overrun with bane. We tried to fight them off, but they were too much for the 10 or 12 guys at the base.
Beyond that, the armor and weapons look pretty cool, environments are great, graphics are passable.. and pretty nice if you can run with them all the way up. The quests are pretty cool.. there is still a bit of FedEx and kill X of Y.. but the combat is fun, rather than a tedium that has to be endured for a reward. That is really what I was looking for. I need a break from clicking 1,2,3,1,2,3... I don't think we should have to sacrifice compelling gameplay for persistence and character progression. This game may not be exactly what I envision for a "perfect" MMO, but it's a step in the right direction.
I am playing with 3 other people I bought the game for, and we are all really enjoying it. Maybe it runs out of content too early, or PvP sucks. Maybe it's missing the mythical "endgame" content people were looking for. I guess I'll burn that bridge when i get to it. I was just looking for something to hold me over until Conan comes out, and this looks like it might do the job. It may not have a very bright future, and I wouldn't expect a lot of resources to go in to new content, but right now.. it's pretty good. Certainly worth the 5 bucks.
