That's got to be one of the stupidest things I've read in awhile.

Open betas are always immediately before release!  Usually only a few weeks long to stress the server architecture to find any capacity issues.

ahh my bad. but its going to be released in just over a month. if they were going to do a test as such, wouldnt it be better to do that earlier? and spend the last 2 months or so in a closed beta with people digging for bugg's?

OMG Joshua you are so misinformed. How long has this closed beta been going on for now? Like a year now. Haha

If they do an open beta it will just turn off most of those people to the game as many many many of the promised features are not in the game atm. No crafting (which means no player cities), no border kingdoms (which means no PvP), no spell weaving, Just a zone fest with lots of quests atm. The game will release extremely unfinished and get vanguard reviews.

    Well i'm afraid... agree.

I'm gonna assume you're also talking about the release. Meaning all those features you mentioned won't be in starting May 20th. If you didn't mean that, then I apologize in advance for the following:

STOP TROLLING! I have faith in the Devs and I believe they will not let their fanbase down by simply releasing a game where you can Quest and nothing else. This would be nonsense because we all know hardcore players will reach level 40 within a week. Meaning they'll be demanding Mounts, Crafting and Guild Cities at least. They can't afford it to NOT put in those things at the release. So let's all stop the negative rumors and just wait and see.

I pre-ordered the CE-edition and had to pay 100% of the price in advance so releasing AoC in the state you described would just make me go mental. So no offense if I sound kinda crazy but I like my money (I work hard for it) and I won't let it be blown to bits. I need positive news about the game to keep my spirits up!

i know its in closed beta, and i prefer a closed beta prior to release than an open beta.

I am stating facts sir not conjecture so I am not trolling. If all the things I mentioned are IN game AT release I will eat my hat.

But I know they won't be so my hat will stay on my head. 50 days to go and not one thing I mentioned is in the game atm. So I highly doubt they will make it in for release and if they do they will be in terrible buggy shape at the very best.

Thats funny I saw crafting in the internal version in January and they said soon to be in beta in the next few weeks after I was told. Same goes for the other things you said. You can assume that happened...

You sir, are wrong, trust me :)

here is a nice hat for you, hope your hungry on May 20th.

I was about to post a rebuttal regarding the absence of certain things, however what's the point? Why should people believe me and not the guy mentioning whatever before me?

Just make yourself a favour and check the game for yourselves when the free play options are available. This game is not for everyone for sure. Plus I'm pretty sure some people are not so well informed besides the headlines and might cry murder when there is no reason to do so.

Until then ... well ... people will have to wait. Maybe speculate. Maybe even bait the beta testers with so utter nonsense that they will be inclined to reply. And just maybe they won't ...

Seems like a lot of people here misunderstand the purpose of a beta.... open or closed.

  • BaltusBaltus Member Posts: 34

I don't understand the purpose of people that say they are in beta and like to bash a game.  I will play AoC but I am also critical of it.  So far, the game might be unfinished in the beta (as per some people post), but isn't that what beta tests are for?

This game like many others are not for everyone, there will be people that will love the game and people that will hate it.  Why spoil the other peoples fun?  why is there the urge to tell the whole world that you didn't like the game and it is garbage?  you are the defender of all gamers and need to protect them from what you think are bag games?  or is it that you need your 15 minutes of fame?

Let people make up their own opinions, good or bad.  is like trying food, you will never know if you like it until you try it.
