I REALLY doubt this is true, well it might be that a few software items might be illigal duo to failing administration of the software, but an big company like Sony would not have 47% of there software pirated.
This isn't the same Sony that makes games... this is their Music Division.
I'm sure Sony's game division gets audited for software regularly (I know all the game companies I know do... and they're far smaller then SOE), and are completely legit.
It's basically another company. So I think this belongs in Off Topic... lest it gets attacked by the SWG peoples.

How can blame an entire company for some employees using pirated software? Everybody and their mother use pirated software. Who gives a shit..
The company getting pirated gives a shit, also the people who got their computers fucked before by Sony BMG. When a company puts malware just to prevent pirating and is then found of doing the very same thing they went to extreme measures to prevent...well they deserve all the bashing they'll probably get. Damn hypocrites. If you don't know what i am talking about heres a nice informative link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sony_BMG_CD_copy_protection_scandal
I think that an employee of a company is a representative of that company, and that anything an employee does that company is responsible for. So even if one employee ripped a program and used it in the name of a company, that company is still liable.
The ultimate solution to every problem: more space marines.

If you had one of those computers that were affected by Sony's malware a couple years ago to prevent piracy you would have given a shit.
Plus, a company that lobbies with the government to pass stringent anti piracy laws and then has pirated software themselves is a unique situation that goes above the norm of "everybody and their mother use pirated software."
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Believe it or not, but there are a few of us honest users out there. We're a "dying" breed I'll admit, but I for one have never touched any kind of pirated media and never will.
There is a term called honor, perhaps you have heard of it. The meaning of it varies depending on who and when you ask, but it involves doing the right thing, whether or not there are consequenses otherwise.
