So, female gamers in the Open Beta, what do you think? Reading the Conan books never made me want to rush out and be one of the women in them. (Why oh why isn't anyone ever going to make a Sword of Truth MMORPG... now THAT had some female characters worth playing!) So, before I preorder, I'd love to hear what some actual female gamers--or male gamers who have an opinion on the subject--think about being a woman in a game that spent a lot of time getting us excited about the fact that there would, indeed, be nipples in game?

I think the whole fact that there are nipples in game is good enough to not play AoC. I hoped MMORPG will stay clean from such a silly marketting attempts to get interests from kids that never had a real sex yet.

The game has all the baits to atract the under 15 crowd of horny leet teen geeks that are getting bullied at school and now want to vent.

I actually meant that as well. The whole Mature Rating is one big joke and it's an apparent attempt to lure kids into game.

I think some girls enjoy chopping some heads off sometimes as much as a real life barbarian with a large muscular structure and a fat axe.
And yeah now you got into the maturity thing.. How immature to post something about maturity. Games are for everyone to enjoy, age-limits is just a pointer, not an illegal action that get you thrown into jail.

um idk what ur talking if u noobs ever read AGE OF CONAN COMICS maybe u noobs would know why they put dam nude and getting drunk and crap like that in the game its becuase they want to make is as close as they can to the comics lol......and the commuity isnt going to be back i dont think theres going to be alot of un mature kids in the game i hope but still we'll always have to deal with it in everygames no matter wat type of game it is

I think you are being close minded. its not about the nipples and bar fights. its about the book..For once a MMORPG is sticking with the story and not trying to change anything about this game.If the Book had no nipples bar fights,or slaves.Then the game would not have it.Look at SWG big game but does not stick to the story.
Now you getting alot of kids playing and making fun of the body parts. ect...but i think anyone can find anything in any MMORPG to make fun of and really make it rude.But I give funcom 5 stars for staying with the story. if you read the books in 1930's then you see why.they did what they did.
you think they put blood in MMorpgs to get more players? i would say yes and no. but AOC has a reason.
I guess your right, of course I would also count myself amongst those who enjoy a bit of 1-4 (well 3 tends to make less sense in a game). I assume somewhere there are stats for the demographics of MMOs (I must have a look for them), I'd often thought most players were vengeful-teens, or is that just 'cos I get beat upon in PvP
I will be buying it. Yes I am a female gamer. Yes I am in beta. No I am not offended by nekkid females or males (not in my line of work I better not be!) Does the gore offend me. A little. Am I a fan of Robert E. Howard and his Conan novels....YES!
My brothers were huge fans of all things Conan and had every edition of Savage Sword of Conan(of which I am the proud owner of now

I know a lot of females that will look at this game and cringe, but I also think there are others out there like me that grew up on this stuff and will wish to participate in game based on the world of Conan.

First, let me say I have nothing against nipples. Or any other body part. Really.
But I'm both female and post-40, and the idea of finding myself in the middle of a group of teenage boys who really, really like videogame nipples is just... creepy.
I think I feel about this the same way I feel about middle aged men in "The Sims Online." Like I said... it's just creepy.
God, I wish MMORPGs would start creating "You Must Be This Tall" servers for us old folk.
I'm a 23 year old female gamer, and I love what I've experienced of the females in AoC thus far. Yes, they've been through horrible, degrading things.. [god knows what went on on that slave ship] - but they aren't victims. They are presented as very strong characters.
As far as I'm concerned, if having real women in game means we have to have lots of threads about breast sliders, nipples, and slutty looking armor, I'm okay with not having women play the game. I realize that some guys may want women in game because they are lonely and horny and hoping to hook up, but it's not worth the whining. And honestly, if a woman is whining this early in the game, trust me guys when you have been married for 5 years or so it's only gonna be worse....a lot worse.

I am twice her age and I have the same experience. I found Lineage II to be far more degrading and creepy. This game is fine, and I will just tune out the jerks (or crush them).
Pretty interesting thread. Would like to see some more female gamers throw in their $.02.
Most of the arguments here tend to stem from an irrational fear of underage boys hitting on women who could really care less. These kids play every MMORPG, from WoW to eventually Age of Conan. They won't go away because an MMO doesn't have breasts, and they won't be exceptionally plentiful just because the game features them. Treat them the same way you do in any other MMO: The /ignore flag.
You will find pricks and nerds in every playground, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying your free time. Walk to the other side of the playground with your friends, and play without the people who bother you.
The only way to completely avoid them is to play single-player games, but you wouldn't be looking into AoC if that was your cup of tea now would you?
I'm an 18 year old girl and i believe the nipple feature is quite good and i don't see what all the fuss is about. Of course guys are probably gonna jack of to pixelated nipples, that might be all they have. I've never read the books and don't intend to, i do however intend to hack peoples head off when this game comes out. My boyfriend had got into beta and what I've seen of it, it looks pretty good. I'm astounded that people have gotten insulted by the nipples and the gore etc etc just don't play the game if you don't want to see this, just go play flyff or something.

I do not think you need the pre-defined story lines already in existance in order to align yourself with the values in you that the SOT characters represent.
Put your fists to your hips arch your back and use the blank template to become Kahlan, Nicci, Cara or even some mish of all those characters.

No I am not pre-ordering and will not be playing it at launch. I will keep playing WoW for now until AoC is about 6 more months to 1 year along in life. I will not go through another "Vanguardesque" release. That is all I am saying. I think AoC has potential just as Vanguard did. But I am not going to put myself through that kind of gaming torment again.
