Well right off the bat i can say this game is way to "high end". i have a decent computer an with everything turned all the way down i can barely play it. "l33t" graphics idea is great in concept but if the avarage gamer cant play it then whats the point? AoC is going to end up with a very small player base. wish they had an option to really dumb down the graphics alot if you want. more so than is possible now. i wouldent care if a few other players got to play with badass looking graphics and mine looked like an older mmo as long as i can play along side everyone else. graphics is nice but if the actual play exp is terrible then whats the point? ah well.. my next prob is loading screens. i havent seen loading screens this much since EQ and this is 20 times worse. if i ever meet the dev team in real life i will punch them in the head for this lol. and 24 gigs of space after install is quite insane also but since this dont really affect the game its not a huge deal, just a annoyance.
well thats it on my experiance, i gave up an uninstalled the game. its too bad tho, i bet it would be a pretty good game.. if it was playable. grats to the people with killer top notch computers. hope someone is getting something out of this game.

As with anything technology based, if you don't update every 2 years or so, you are going to fall behind. This is a new game intended to be played for years to come, why would they cater to your 5 year old machine? Drop 600 dollars and build yourself a new computer.
dont be an asshat. this just seems to be the problem for a huge amount of people. im not bashing AoC saying its going to fail or some other lame stuff people have been saying, just logicly if the majority of people cant play it well then its going to end up with a small player base. im sure it will be successful for those with sweet sytems. would just be nice if they made it so the rest of us can play to. thats all im saying:)
Drop 600 dollars at the moment? cant be done. have real bills to pay, an a son an daughter to feed, and other far more important things. unfortunately i dont have a $20 an hour job lol. im sure i will ungrade eventualy. but not everyone has the money for such things all the time. only prob is by the time everyone has caught up they will probably have moved on to other games by that point.
Yea I understand where you are coming from. This is probably the main reason why WoW is so popular, and why it won't be dethroned any time soon. A lot of people just don't have the money to upgrade, but I don't think we'll be seeing any next gen MMORPGs with cartoon style graphics like WoW in the next few years. Well, Warhammer is still up to come, but we'll see I guess.
There are plenty of slightly older games that you can run and still have fun. I would recommend moving back or too those if you are unable to afford the better parts. There is plenty of games that are worth playing in this world. Also, you shouldn't be mad at AOC persay, you did just get to play a free beta. Take it for what it was an experience.

well im not really mad at AoC, my original post wasnt even ment to seem as if i was bashing the game hardcore or anything. more of just what i exp and a warning to any people that dont have high end computers who are thinking about playing.. they better upgrade or something haha.
i DO hate all the load screens tho, for real.. but i hate them in any game heh.
Maybe you should better stick then to PS2 / XBOX etc. ? No really, I mean PC "hobby" is far from expensive if you buy every 2 years new parts to build a new one which will cost you around 900€ for a TOP PC. Yes it seems alot but when you save already each month for 2 years money it really isnt big of a deal. Thats what Iam doing for my HOBBY, if you cant afford that I have to say go buy an Xbox, PS2 or something.
Sorry but Iam somehow pissed about ppls like you, if there would be just ppls like you we still would be playing Pac-Man, Tetris and Pong on a C64. No thank you.
And here is a news flash for you, there are settings in games you dont need to play on highest.
Maybe this game really sux I dont know yet cause Iam still downloading but to cry always about new games that you cant run em on highest settings with a 2-3 year old machine is more than stupid really.
and dont talk smack about pac-man, pac-man was the shit an he will eat you for lunch:P cuz..... thats all he does.. ];)
in case you live in a bubble and havn't noticed economies around the world are hurting...especially here in the states if thats where the OP lives. not to mention people that are passionate about gaming aren't all 16 year old pimply kids living at home with no bills to pay.
i was thinking the same thing the other day myself as the OP was. i can't upgrade my pc for some time to come as well. maybe a year or more at this rate. times are tough at the moment. i agree you cant necessarily blame the game companies because gaming is a huge driving force behind software and hardware upgrade/development. my argument however is that maybe game companies might need to evolve and consider pacing their technology to meet the new reality of the economy. just a thought......

Sorry you cant play the game. I have allmost no problems with lag and I have crashed only once after several hours of gammeplay. I can play at medium settings and I have a over 2 year old computer. I havn´t tried to play even at high settings yet .... assuming it would lag.
I know they are working hard on a release improving the performance. Really cool game.

glad your not having very many probs:) im looking into ways i might be able to improve it, if i can find any i may reinstall. saw some fourms about improving it. i kept the install just in case, was far to big to want to download again haha. i dont know yet. but glad people are enjoying it. i think a few people took what i said a little to far. i know people have said its already a doomed game and a bunch of other insane stuff but im not one of those people. was just telling about my exp so far. i know all games will have its problems too, i remember when UO 1st opened. good luck moving faster than an inch an hour for a good while there lol and WoW, played it the day it came out... go to loot something an be stuck half way and end up looking like you was surfing for anywhere between 5 seconds to an hour for the 1st few days. and this was all on release, not beta lol
Yes, no game is free from bugs even at release. I also remembered that WoW lootbug. Very enoying. And that was a Blizzard game.
We can expect AoC to have bugs too, but I think it will be in a much better state at release than today. And we will for sure see alot of improvements in all areas the comming weeks, as I know Funcom want to make this MMO, the best ever.
Imo, this game is allready today entertaining, but it will be even better for each patch.

First of iam 28 and not 16, so I have to pay my bills myself too. Second, it isnt expensive when you save each month a few bucks so you can buy in a few years a new PC. And 3rd there are always ppls like the OP, I remember for example UT3 same there .. only crying bla bla my PC cant handle it, ppls will have to buy a new one .. omg pls really stfu already and go play on a PS2 or go back to an Atari or C64. Also you dont need to play on highest settings.
I can understand when ppls cry about unfinished products and that kind of stuff but to cry that they have to upgrade their computers once in a while is like I said more than stupid. And Iam reading that kind of stuff more and more on forums and it makes me sick, really. Iam not the kid, the ppls who are crying about system specs are the kiddies

I have to step in and agree with crusher. PC gaming like many other things is a hobby. I am also 28 married and have bills to pay and right now don't make crap because I am a technology industry casualty, maybe if more folks saved up and upgraded their pc's or bought new ones I would have a job but thats another conversation all together. I like to fish too but the guys who can afford better gear than me catch more fish a lot of the time, same thing with any hobby (cars, golf, hunting, etc.). if you want to play the newest pc games with the best settings or even decent ones you will have to at some point upgrade. If you don't like that, play an older game that your pc can handle and shut up or pick a hobby that you can afford within your budget. I hate to sound mean here but unrealistic expectations get you nowhere fast. If you; like me are really into computers and computer gaming I suggest you do like I do and cut back in other areas so that you can afford to keep up with the games that are being released.

lol, i would like to know the specs of your pc. because i have seen a video of someone playing it with a comp that was below the minimum reqs and it ran fine.
Funny thing is, with the cost of video cards and the like, this game is being made for XBox 360 as well. You can get the same graphics performance (probably even better) for less dollars. I'd hold off and wait for that version to come out, it would probably be more enjoyable.
