(poll) NEW PVP server list

MaeEyeMaeEye Member UncommonPosts: 1,107

Since there has been some changes to the list, Bane being one...now which PVP server are you rolling on.

If your joining a PVE server...that's great.  This post is mainly for the PVP people and what server they want to roll on.

Will you try the new Culture PVP?

As part of celebrating the release of Age of Conan we are happy to unravel a brand new PvP ruleset that has not previously been disclosed: The Culture PvP ruleset! Note that this new PvP server type is experimental and players on these servers must expect an ongoing change to the ruleset.

The goal of this PvP server-type is to stimulate war behind the three cultures of Cimmeria, Aquilonia and Stygia. As a player on a Culture PvP server, you are shielded from lone travelers of your own culture, however you may still group with any culture and form a group and attack anyone.

The Culture PvP ruleset is an evolving ruleset that will be tweaked and polished based on player-feedback in the months to come. Although it is, at least currently, possible to make guilds across cultures, pure culture groups and guilds will be endorsed on this server, and as such players on the Culture PvP servers must prepare that the future will hold continued changes to the ruleset.

We have changed to ruleset on two servers that were previously flagged as full PvP. The homes for the Culture PvP servers are:

Bane (US)

Twilight (EU)

With best regards,

Funcom

I wont roll on a PVP server, probably a PVE. But with the new ruleset it sounds kinda interesting, so I will probably play on both a PVE and the new culture PVP server.

It will be interesting to see what direction Cimmeria goes in.

I think my major problem with this culture pvp is that people are going to feel like they can't talk to the other factions.

It'll be in their heads that the other faction they have to kill because of some war going on.  I think I'm leaning away from the culture pvp now that I think about it.

Mae - if I may ask, why the attraction to Culture PvP?  I am weighing the options here and the only PRO that culture seems to offer is the potential for less random ganking when you are off alone.

Aside from that, is there something I am missing?

Basically, yeah your right.  I think the main reason they did the culture pvp is because there was too much of a difference between PVE servers and PVP servers.  I think mainly what they are trying to do is cater to more of a casual player base that want to tone down the FFA PVP a bit.

Honestly though, I think it's going to create a bit more of a problem because people will tend to feel like if they SEE the other race, that they must kill them.  I don't know, it's all speculations, but I think it could turn into that.

So, if you don't have a problem with the FFA PVP, then i would just go to a normal pvp server.

    Hope I answered your question.

***In a nut shell...the only difference is that you cannot be attacked by your own race.***

that sounded really smart when I first read that... makes the ganking less existant and adds more organization...

it can't work simply because of how the game is designed, though. Certain races can only play certain classes. It limits your choices of what you want to play if you have a friend who wants to be an Aquilonian Guardian and you want to be a Stygian HoX.

Going over to Tyranny I guess...

EDIT: Also, how the heck are guilds going to work now?? Your going to have Stygian, Aquilonian, and Cimmerian guilds. You're only going to be able to choose from a limited amount of classes for your guild... this is going to be tough for end-game content, I simply can't see this working the more and more I think about it.

i'll probably just stick with Cimmeria, but i'm definitely interested to see what they do with that ruleset, hopefully it'll give a good many people a place they can call home.

i'm betting guilds will work the same way that grouping would, you can group with any race, so why would you not be able to make a guild with any race? from the sounds of it it mainly affects players that are solo.

    No your getting it wrong.

You can still talk/trade/group/guild etc.. with the other races.  The only DIFFERENCE is that you cannot be attacked by your own race.  So if your stygian, you can still be in a guild/group with cimmerians  etc...  You can still attacked who you want, except you can't attack your own race.  So cimmerians can't attack cimmeriancs, etc....

hope this clears things for you

Hmm... either way I think I'm still going to go with Tyranny now, even if the only difference is less ganking.

I prefer a little chaos  But in complete honesty, the main aspect of the server I'll be choosing is the one that proves to be one of the most popular. I may switch to Bane once we learn a little bit more about it, I am curious...

Yeah I'm trying to decide between 3 right now.  Tyranny, Bane, or Cimmeria.

My gf is moving up from WoW.  She's never played on a PVP server before so I'm forcing her lol.  But I was thinking BANE would be a good choice for her.  The only problem is that not much is known about it since it's bran new.  I would go Tyranny, but I feel like the more people are in it, the more problems there can be.  I sort of want to have a name and be know.  I'm fine with medium sized servers, I just don't want something that has a rediculas amount of people that it's hard to get anywhere.  Overcrowded.

So that's the cross road I'm at now...and I have 4 minutes to decide, lol.  I'll just have to see for myself.  I wonder what most the people on the official AoC boards will go.
