I read a lot of the posts on these forums for various games. I like to read the postitive and negative feedback on titles that are out and ones coming soon. It's almost impossible to not notice the amount of useless flaming I see. Its nothing new; I've seen flaming in forums for ages. Only problem I see is that its more consistent now days.
Not everyone has the same interests. Something a lot of people on these forums fail to understand. They think if you enjoy something they do not like, you are total moron. The flaming I see in forums like on this site really annoys the hell out of me.
Not everyone likes the same flavor of ice cream. I don't see kids standing around outside Dairy Queen waiting to bash someone's face in for picking the wrong flavor. So why do people allow it to happen on here? I guess the reason people think its okay to talk trash to others via the web is because they won't have to worry about getting stabbed by some crazy person.
Its nice to see how degraded the practice of embedding morals in the youth has gotten. Just last week I read a story about some local teenagers who dug up the skull of an infant and smoked pot out of it. I know there is a saying for stupidity like this; but, whats making it worse is when other kids laugh about it. A week later they'll go out and try the same thing. Not because they want to rebel or make a statement; but, because they are just that stupid.
I could name a hundred reasons why parents and society have failed the youth; but, who would I be kidding? It wouldn't make much of a difference. Just felt like getting something out of my hair.

The two posts above mine are consistent in that they prove your point.
Too bad there is not a sanctuary where people can post with out flaming, intimidation, or just plane rudeness.
The "Block" feature is your friend!
Sadly once you start using it on all the idiots, trolls, flamers and fanboys, there's not very many people left to talk to. I can't help but shake my head every time I click a thread and find that it's incoherent because 2/3 of the posters were blocked due to remarks like the ones you mention above.
There's nothing wrong with messing around, just jokin a bit It's not like I meant anything against him.
@OP, I may as well respond to your post now, some people don't take humor lightly..
I see what you are getting at, but people have a right to express their opinion. While some people argue about their opinions, there should not be flaming at all, I agree. But it is not usually getting on someone about their opinion, but mainly about the game they play.
It's like if I were to argue with my friend about him playing WoW. I am not arguing to him about his opinion, he plays WoW and that is fine. But I will argue to him saying that I think the game is a grind and isn't even that fun (IMO). Now I am not really bashing his opinion, but I am just making a remark on the game that he plays.
I do entirely agree though, flaming should not be a part of ones' arguement. Although, this is public forums, and people will occasionly say "you're an idiot", but hiopefully they do it after using some constructive criticism .
Edit- Also, I have no clue what you're talking about. I always argue with my friends about which ice cream is better!
I'm gonna agree with the OP. There is just way too much flaming on these boards, and it just seems to get worse and worse. Really, it would be a lot more fun if we could keep it civil and have an exchange of ideas without insulting a person's intelligence or whatever.
Lately I tend to skip over the flamers soon as I am on to them. Their opinions are made irrelevant by their abusive behavior as far as I'm concerned.
There are a lot of good posters though. I try to focus in on their comments.
I agree with the OP.
Though looking at it from another perspective, doesn't one also possess the right to place judgement on another opinion due to personal disagreement with said opinion, in order to at least attempt to allow the other user to see things from there point of view?
Food for thought.
I have to agree with the OP too.
Too many times do I see people dismiss other peoples ideas and wishes for a game, because the first guy doesnt fancy the idea...And only the first guys idea of fun is valid.
It's happening not only here but in about every game forum in existance...
It's like people cant understand and respect that other people have their own opinion of fun..
The last of the Trackers
bloody hell, using an infant's skull- thats just wrong.
Yeah you're right, a lot of incessant flaming at times, and just too many people that think WoW is the ultimate mmo and patronize mmo players of other games as simply 'deluded' that they can actually have an appeal, seperate from WoW.
Whats realy sad about it is that you have 30 and 40 year old (those proud veterans) adults here flaming and acting like their own opinion stands above all. I can understand if a kid or teenager does some flaming but come on...
It’s too bad the posts you speak of were in complete jest, from what I got. It’s kinda sad how people let their feelings get hurt so easily around here; it is just a forum after all. If people don’t agree with you, so be it, you aren’t gonna change their minds, move on man.
