Can somebody enlighten me as to why these forums seem a bit biased towards certain oppinions regarding AoC? Don't get me wrong, I Loved playing end of open beta. The game totally redeemed itself for me after I lost all faith during the beginning of OB. Miracle Patches do exist. Go figure. So I have every intention of playing AoC. But heres the thing.
It seems that a lot of the negative posts (even constructive negatism) are being deleted from this forum. Now, thats all well and good if it was just trolls, but it's not. Couple this with restricted access to official forums and this is just pure fuel to the conspiracy that has become Funcoms PR. It looks like they don't want people to get a full picture of the game before they buy. I for one love to hear all possible oppinions on a game before i buy. Now, I'm not saying that FC have a hidden agenda, but i can totally see why some people are goin nuts over this. It is a bit suspicious in all fairness. And MMORPG.com have been known to be very pro-AOC...i dunno. Thoughts. Is this just pure paranoia? Should i lay off the weed?
Comments
most of the negative feedback is from people who have not reached level 20, only played the beta or have not played the game at all...
so they usually have poor criticism which annoys people
Yes your absolutely correct. MMORPG.com is deleting most threads that talk poor of AoC. I cannot comment any further because I have already received a warning for discussing my opinion on the game.
*Looks around scared*.. AoC has cake and candy and puppies! *hides in a ball*
Yes - MMORPG.COM has been banning ppl and deleting posts for the past weeks from ppl that are not thanking Funcom for everything they have done (like bringing us "massive 48vs48 sieges and no dx10) This is considered just fine from the mods of these forusm since they dont have to apply to any rules at all. These are private forums that can say and do whatever and thats exactly what they are doing.
There will be detailed discussion going on in other forums about the behaviour of MMORPG.com regarding this release in the coming days. Aparently MMORPG.COM is not ready to take part in any such discussion. But Im just glad that current mod on these forums are not GMs that have to follow any kinda ruleset cause they break it pretty much every hour.
Sweet. Thought i was gonna get flamed for that post. Man i hate biased crap like this. Really casts a shadow on the game for me. Any properly moderated forums you'd reccommend? I've just been using this website as a go-to guide...
<mod edit>
You will probably find it is the posts turning into flame wars that are getting deleted and that it has nothing to do with the content.
People that were warned or banned were done so (myself included) because of personal/attacks and flaming, not because of their opinion of the game.
If the thread turns into a massive flame war which they often do, then I can't blame mmorpg for deleting it.
There seems to be plenty of posts still here with peoples opinion, both good and bad on the game.
Pure lolage. Dingobois post above was edited. He didn't even say anything bad. Very poor...i do believe i will abandon this sell out of a site
Apparently we're not allowed. Surprise surprise.
I will not be buying AoC thanks to this site's obvious partnership with its producers. I'm done with mmorpg.com too. Cheerio.

lol nice try. A mod did not edit this

He did that to himself to make you think he did it. The Mods didn't do that.

<oh noes I just got mod edited!!!!>
Its all fake. If a moderator were to delete a post they would have DELETED stamped all over the post. Come on guys. Don't be so gullible

It also have something to do with spamming and forum rules, if someone posts 30-50 negative posts, and then cross the borderline for what is acceptable according to forum rules, like making personal insults or whatever...
I am not sure how it works here, but in some forums that means that the entire account gets banned and all those 30-50 posts disappear. The problem isn´t an eventual bias from mmorpg.com. The problem is people that are making their anti-AoC crusade a bit too personal.
Hopefully they will release that what we are talking about in these forums is just about games, not life and death.

(For answers regarding "bias" of this site look up post history of Taera (the CM) & Stradden, was a thread yesterday that was answered by them.)
Hello, hello! To avoid making you snoop through my history, here's a copy paste of the post yesterday, with some updated links and numbers about posts in the AOC area
First off, let me start by re-posting my email, community@mmorpg.com, and reminding that this is a perfect, valid reason to use it! No account will ever be banned for emailing me concerns about the site. No account has ever been banned for emailing me outside of real life threats or illegal content.
Now that that's out of the way...
The MMORPG.com moderation team is not in any way related to our advertisement team. Moderators and, heck, myself, do not know what ads are going up until we see em, just like you guys. Moderators - and again myself - are not influanced, given instructions, or paid for moderation based on advertisements or any other scheme. Moderators are strictly observed to guarantee they are providing unbias service, and if they are not, they are let go.
The actions and deletions on the Age of Conan forums lately have been based purely off the rules of our site: no trolling, no spamming, no flaming, etc. MMORPG.com allows negative opinions and posts, what we don't allow is spam of those posts, posts baiting others to break our rules, posts insulting other users, and unsubstantiated game attacks (spamming a forum with "this game sux!" does no good; please tell us why it sucks ). This is evident, I believe, by the fact that there are still undeleted posts in the Age of Conan section that are purely negative, but do not break our rules.
For example, no auction house?. tired of seeing this game. a not-so-glowing review. In fact, while there are deleted posts in various threads, the last deleted negative thread is 57 threads back, and that thread was an attempt to sell an AOC account (against our Virtual Trade rules).
If your post or thread is deleted and you feel it did not break our rules, as said above, please email me. Please! I want to help Otherwise, I will keep an eye on the AoC forum and to ensure that the moderation continues to be unbias and professional.
