    To AOCtester:

Comparing AoC's launch to Vanguard's puts in serious jeopardly your own credibility I'm afraid.

    Tempest of Set

I have Played to game , I have reach lvl 80 pretty fast because I play a lot but Because I picked an MEGA IMBA class without knowing it of course , Its like at some lvl with the right spell you can kill 6 or 8 and untill 10 mobs of your LvL at the time if you use a shield and go on parry mode.

Some classe are so Unbalanced its as nobody even tryed the class after making it.

Now lets see what content do we have at lvl max ? Well the answer is quite simple Nothing. I have explore the whole Hyboria world in about less then 2 weeks , I had a lot of fun doing it and now will go on and play something else , this game was a simple RPG after all nothing more.

Patch is coming tomorrow, a very large one at that. At least give them a chance.

Large patch? Read the patch release notes.

Funcom are the worst company in the world when it comes to writing patch releases. For example it was confirmed on the forums that the patch fixed a major bug/exploit (the one Lobotomist mentioned with people escaping to other instances) and Funcom never bothered to write it. Why?

Because Funcom believes it's better not to mention too many bug fixes, especially the embarasing ones.

AoC is a decent game but nothing revolutionary because it sacrifices every important aspect of MMO's on the altar of graphics. My gripe is with Funcom, a company that firmly believes that in order to sell a game you HAVE to cheat, lie, deceive, withhold information and when needed, completely distort it.

First they denied public access to the Forums. Now they have a sticky post in the general discussion explaining how all the people complaining about the game are actually a minority and they encourage you to "try" the game first before deciding. Not using a free trial of course, but by paying them 50 USD/Euro. Nice try, Funcom.

Ok, about that lost child in Wild  lands. It can be done, atleast I finished it yesterday.

It has slow spawn rate. Body can be found in canyon opposite of some bears and bandits.

What i did was changing istances. There is spawn point near so its not far to run to childs body spawn place. I had prospector quest so changing instances was handy while farming silver ore  on the hill near spawn place.

Maybe it took atleast 20 instance changes until I found child body in les populated instance. And i also finished my prospector quest.

It was in normal instance during day time.

urbanmonkey ... does WAR have public forum or not?

I see same nicknames in every  topic against AOC. Don't you have a different game to play? I wonder do you have fetish on doing things you don't like? Why are you forcing yourself to play something you dont like?  Reason?

    I have shut down my account as of today. I have a 42 PoM /a 34 HoX /a 24 DP /a 22 hunter.

First let me say the Landscapes look great, and the game ran real smooth on my computer.

First problem. HoX destiny quest. The main quest of the first 20 levels of this class is broken. For ALL HoX you can not go past one conversation. Everyone knows about it and its been like this since day one. you have to page a GM and wait many hours or do this thing that dumps that quest and sets you to the next one. You miss the story, you miss the exp, you miss the quest rewards, its stupid.

Problem two, grouping. This game is built around solo questing. One of my guild mates and I grouped for almost all of the level on our mains. It was a pain in the butt. It is very hard to find team mates on the map. (They did improve this some by making larger icons but they are missing half the time, it just does not work very often) Quests that have objectives that say to pick up an item in an instance many times only work for the first person to click the item. Then the instance has to be reset for another person to pick up the item.                  Team buffs are buggy.  if two team members have health + buffs cast they conflict on the other team members as the two buff fight for control, draining the life of the team members in the process. Its easy enough to shut off one of the buffs but its just stupid that its like that.

Problem 3, gathering, crafting. At 20 you start gathering. But one of the recourses is broken ... Cotton, no one can get cotton. Ok.. so we just focus on the other things.   Level 40 comes and were all checking out crafting professions. 3 of the proffesions are broken. Armor smith. you cant complete the first quest because you need to make something with cotton. Ok ... so I try making other things, but they are so useless in the stats that our level 25 gear is better than this level 40 crafted stuff. ... Well they have GEM slots. So i take gem crafting thinking it will make the items worth it. I make a nice +10 magic damage gem and put it in a leather glove. Its going to be cool...... then I mouse over it to look...... and it crashes the game! Every time you mouse over it crashes the game! So I check the forums ... sure enough its not just me..... Gem crafting is BROKEN..... it will crash the game if you actually slot one into something..... JUST GREAT.

There is other junk to but to top it all off ..... Guild Cities. We build a keep ... and a trade post and ... and this stuff does NOTHING. Guild cities do nothing at all right now .. no buffs ... no traders in the trade posts... it does not get attacked by NPCs .. nothing .. totally non functional. There is no ETA on when it will function. Its just not implemented ......

I may try again some day.

  • GhostworksGhostworks Member Posts: 20

well besides all the specifics, Salamander just said it: "Ill try again someday"

You guys playing the game now might as well accept that you are still in beta -- except you are paying for its development yourselves.

Remember how PS3 cost a billion dollars when it came out and nothing worked well on it??? All the launch titles sucked? Remeber that? It's okay now.

Just wait it out and we will see if this game becomes solid or just goes the way of SWG.

Well with crafting i am glad that you didnt just pick it up and make items that were better than what you had. you did say you cant progress yet so hopefully items will get better as you progress in crafting? that would seem logical to me. Also you say its an RPG but then complain about team members not being visible on a map...well thats what a lot of people forget this is meant to be a rpg..yes agreed its also meant to be a mmo. to me  thats not  bug, i dont want simplisity thats why i left so many other games. and yes conan has lots of simplicity but i am hoping they dont make it even more so.

Like any mmorpg it needs time to develop..its just up to us whether we want to come along for the ride or wait till its what we are looking for....me i'm staying :).

    From the today patch notes:

*Resources Gathering: Cotton and Cottonwisp have been fixed.

And from the unofficial patch notes:

    * Weaponsmith

    - Several rare crafted weapons have been upgraded and got proper amount of gem slots now, correct item quality & damage.

Did NOT 1 beta tester try to craft armor??? Or did people report it as a broken class and it's just now getting fixed? tons of stuff I'm reading that should have been fixed before release. I'm amazed at how many people are ok with that. I guess when desperation sets in.

This bug (cotton) was introduced with a patch after release.

I still cannot see the intro video without modifications to my game folder. They really failed with this game. I'm not sure who they got to beta test this pile but apparently they just thought it was a free trial.

In Support of the original poster some of you folks may also be interested in this currently growing thread on the European Forums.

    http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=2011

Essentially the thinking at the moment is that to gain the large leap in performance for the retail release many of us have witnessed since Open Beta, Funcom seem to have implemented some form of hard-coded, over-aggressive occlusion techniques when rendering Character/NPC Models in your vicinity...after leaving Tortage where it is very noticable and seeing this in full effect in Conarch Village and Tarrantia this issue experienced by a massive number of users and unanswered at all as of yet by any Funcom representative is absolutely game and immersion breaking in my humble opinion...

    - Group Members constantly disappearing at random distances as close as 10 - 20m away with the marker for the individual group member also disappearing from the mini-map (No they are not switching instances of the area, this is actually happening)

     - Players Character Models and NPC Models "Popping" in and out of view at random distances some as close as @15m whilst others much further in draw distance remain in sight but pop in and out randomly as you move your avatar position and camera view.

     - Spawns of Hostile NPC'S / Monsters appearing too close and too late, Or large groups simply popping into view in a death animation within 15-20m because they have been defeated by another player character whom also hasnt appeared until you are pratically right next to them.

    - Serious Grouping and Instancing/Raiding and PVP in the game has been reported on this thread to be critically hampered by this performance "enhancement" that has been put in place.

This point i think is massive, its a game breaker...and on the Euro Forums at least it still remains unresponded too.

    Regards

    Mag

Well I see what your saying about team members should not have to be auto track on the mini map. BUT, here is the problem. Everyone looks the same. At any distance no one stands out. We are all wearing the same looking armor. Sure its an RPG .. but i need a way to tell my team members apart from others. AND that is if you can even SEE them. Team members constantly vanish, while mobs and other players even are still visible at great distance. Some one will say on coms "Im right here next to this hut with the wagon and we cant see each other untill we are 10 feet from each other then POP ... there they are.

I really enjoy the game; but agree that instancing stinks in general. Should just be used rarely.

    Back to EVE.

I think the difference with WAR is that many of us (including me) are willing to give it a shot and will stick with it regardless of how rough the launch might be because it's being produced by Mythic, who has already proven to us that they listen to their community, fix bugs, and try to improve their games for the better.

I can't say the same for Funcom (or Sony). Which is really a shame.

  • People who so desperately want AoC to succeed, even though it will probably not last 3-4 months.

What people don't understand is that even though a game might be horrible (and WoW is not) it's the community that keeps things going fresh. WoW has such a huge community at this point, it's going to take a HUGE amount of content/innovation to pull people away. In fact, it will take so much content/innovation I don't think any other MMO developer has the manpower to do it at his point.

So when people look around in a few months and realize the world is fairly empty and stagnant (no new players) they will quit and AoC will die.

I have been a hardcore Wow player for years, but lately I haven't been playing much.  I was so looking forward to this game to be my new MMORPG.  At last, I was greatly disappointed

At present I have quit AoC and returned to Wow.  Looking forward to WotLK and Warhammer.  Oh well  :-(

  • funnylumpyfunnylumpy Member Posts: 212

I look forward to watch all the fun flaming when WAR comes out... I mean people still cannot accept the fact that people are different and if you cannot affort buying a game then you shouldn't.

If you're low on cash wait until you get the trial version of a game instead of jumping to buy.

both fanboys and haters of a game try to either get people to play a game or go away... only thing which I'm puzzled over is why most of the haters of AoC is WoW fans...

  • DreathorDreathor Member Posts: 537

I can't wait until people get bored of bashing AOC. Then again, by that time there'll be something else.

Because there are so many WoW fans on the intarweb, they make up most of... everything.

Very, very few games ever die...sorry to burst your bubble. Ultima Online n EQ are still going. Even tho they have a much smaller fanbase they still survive. It will take much longer than a few months for this game to die.  Even Vanguard with its horrible launch still continues n is currently not so bad of a game. Look at the list

<--- "released games" Many of these games have very small server population yet still going. Funcom will prolly continue to fix/update/add content as time goes on.

AoC in my opinion is a casual players game. A couple hours here, couple hours there. Chat up with some friends bit of questing n log off.

Neither will any Funcom worker post anything on Support forum.

Second - The game seriously lacks content. When LOTRO was launched people complained about lack of content. It was nothing compared to AOC. Most of my guild are casual players. They play no more than 2-3 hours a day. They all have few lvl 40 alts. Why? Supposably when you reach lvl 40 there is no more quests to do and you have to grind 40 more levels , in few designated zones. So Funcom developed low level content and hoped to do high level later ... what new ? Leveling is to fast , and it takes a week to hit a brick wall - no more content!

Third - PVP is a joke. Click on yellow arrow next to the map and see how many instances are of each area!
I think the areas can not even support 50 players before creating another shard!
If someone attacks you, and you feel you are going to lose - click the yellow arrow and PUF! disappear to another instance!!!! And nobody can ever find you. Also good luck finding someone specific. You can not even meet your friends

Forth - Promise first , deliver later (or much later, or never) - There is no DX10 , there is no Battlekeeps...

I am very very sorry for spending my money for this game. I could have invested it in Mass Effect , even Vanguard is better investment...at least it is an MMO

Hm sounds more serious even than I thought. Reminds me more of Dark and Light now, if this is the case.
