Rohan is in open beta. Very good game for being FREE.
Features:
M.Kill system: Every 20th kill on a monster, you get 7x, 10x, 13x, 17x, and 19x experience. (Great for leveling)
Party system gets bonus XP by 360%.
Lots of quests and repeatable quests for money
Auction house system AND player shops.
Pet system that gives you buffs (many different kinds)
Mounts (Level 30, 50, and 80 mounts, each increase in speed. Every race gets a different type)
6 classes with each branching into 1 of 2 at 50. Making 12 classes total.
Very fun "build system" You put your players stats and skills to make your character unique. Many many different builds.
Dungeon System, many dungeons to group in and kill lots of monsters. Its fast paced and very fun.
Fishing, you use bait to catch fish. The fish are then used for a lottery in which you can get some very nice items. Theres many different types of fish and they rank from 1-50 (i think)... Higher the rank, the better the items you can get.
Township Battles Large scale PvP wars.
Looking for group system: Theres a tool for looking for partys, easy to use.
Gambling: In towns you can play the Rohan card game which can make you some cash if your lucky.
Crafting: You combine items in this game to craft rares, uniques, and artifacts and theres also gems you can socket to make the stats even more powerful. Also, bosses drop rares and gems.
Many many other features! This game rocks for a free game. When cash shop comes out, you can use in game money to get cash items. You can also sell your items through there website to other players for cash shop currency.
I thought the game was grindy past 20 at first, but once you know what to do, it gets fast. I suggest doing the quests and partying with players to kill high level mobs, you get easy levels.
Tip: Do not skip the tutorial. If you do the last tutorial quest, you get a bunch of VERY good items that will help you level. On top of taht you get a 20% xp boost for 8 hours (which doesnt get used when you logout)

Meh...
Looks like another in a LONG line of Asian f2p anime type games
I think I'll pass. Thanks for the info though.
I also hate korean grind MMO. Tried them all. This one is not on of them. The PvP system is awesome and leveling is very fast if you group up the right way. I recently quit Age of Conan to play this game. Not that it matters, but it shows that free games can be better and more fun than P2P games.
The sad part about it is that the Japanese version of this game is LESS grindy than the english version.
The english version atm is more grindy than Lineage 2 (the 30s in rohan feels like the 40s in lineage 2). It takes roughly 1000 mobs to lvl you from 34 to 35 (and those are mobs that are 10 lvls higher than you). The exp curve basically skyrockets up the 20's and never really flattens down.
Plus the massive bot problem already hitting it.
It could be a good game, but it appears they want to force players to use the CS by making the exp rates brutal and the drop rates just as bad.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
Thanks for the post, downloading it now to give it a shot. To me anything thats free is worth a shot!
Well I suppose I have nothing to lose for giving it a shot. It just seems these types of games are all the same, but your opinion states otherwise. Once again thanks for the info and have fun
LOL, this is not a korean grind game ? Someone is not being truthful lol. Even with the xp multiplier the game is a massive grind , which begins heavily in mid 20s. The game has 100 levels I think.
99 lvls and yes the grind does hit in the 20's
it is one of the more grindy mmos ive played (The japanese version is not that bad, the english version is horrid)
just as an example here is the exp chart from the less grindy version of rohan
so, as you can see at lvl 50 you need approx 10k monsters to lvl, at 67 you need a little under 50k
to put this into perspective in Perfect World (which is also condiered a grindy game) you need 4k mobs to lvl at 67, in Rohan you need ~50k mobs. And the mob killing speed is slower in rohan overall.
So have fun playing :P

To the OP: have you actually played the game? 'Cause you should have known by now that all those "cool features' are just on paper, in reality they add squat to the game, which is dull and very slow paced (grinding hits very early in game, and it hits hard). Let me know for example when you'll afford to buy a mount Without xp items you''re stuck to endless horrid grinding (not to mention the defence issues) - I played a lot of asian MMOs and I have to (sadly) say this is one of the worst regarding leveling/grinding.
I'm enjoying myself so far. There are elements that the blockbuster games do much better, and so I won't be cancleing any subscriptions over it. But . . . This has taken a lot of my time. I love the skill system and the physical combat animations. I hope other games can take these 2 elements and put them without so much grind.
There is a reason why cash shop item games have so much grind. They want to force you to use the ingame shop, thats their main income and the marketing trick is called "free". Furthermore, they have more time to develope the game and concentrate on other games in addition. Its a business method, nothing more and there is really not a reason why a game should have such low xp rates. Its always all about the money. Go and play perfectworld for example on private server, you can get to lvl 80 in one day, or any other private servers for cash shop games and you see there is not that much endgame content or they are even still working on it. Yeah some players do like heavy grind games, i dont know whats the reason - maybe grind competition - but for the average player such games just steal your free time a lot. The lower the xp rates the more bots you will see in such games as well...well
hell the official perfect world is no where near as grindy as Rohan

As long as levels is defined as progress there will always be grind. you fool yourself if you think the grind is less in any other mmo. It just looks diffrent. In this game its close to what its like in la2 and i had no problem reaching max level in la2. THe grind dosen't have to be a bad thing, try to see things from diffrent angels and not lock games into grind for levels to be teh best. This game is grouporientated meening you can social allot while grinding , like FFXI.
Also i did lvl 29-30 in 1-2 h , thats faster than many other games.
That is a lot faster than most people do it, plus the brick wall kinda hits at lvl 32.
There is no real reason for it to be that grindy, except for them to force the use of cash shop.

dont mind the op, he is obviously posting an advertisement...believe what the others posted who have played the game say, however.
Well. . .
Grind is part of almost every game. Some do a good job masking it though, like quests. IMO this game's quest system is very lacking. There is usually very little story behind it. But this game shines in character customization and animations.
I love how they handled dual wield. Your dual wield weapons (like 2 swords (Zen Sep) and Katars) are considered 2 handed weapons (one weapon). But it shows 1 weapon in each hand, and your character does faster strikes using both hands. It throws kicks in there, reverse spins and back stabs. The animation system really makes you feel like your character is kicker butt. Gets a little confusing when you die, I looked so good!
The character customization is one of those, each level you get to place attribute points and skill points down several trees like in Diablo 2 or Shadowbane. There are usually 2 or 3 cookie cutter templates per class. The templates are rather flexible themselves, usually based off 2 or 3 critical skills and everything else being optional. There are 12 classes to choose from (6 at the start, and then each class specializes in one of two areas at level 50).
I have played an assassin that concentrated on STR with some VIT and mainly doing constant melee dmg; and one that was all AGI that concentrated on avoidance and critical DMG.
A dragoon (think Berserker, melee tank no shield) that did the same as assassin, STR with some VIT doing melee dmg; and one that was all VIT concentrating on trading health for power, more health, and dmg, lots and lots of dmg. . . hehe.
A healer for a little bit. Was not my cup of tea (and I normally play healers), but this one was built for DMG at first.
The ranger did not get my attention at all. Not a fan of playing bow classes.
And played the Mage for a bit. Had very nice dmg to health and dmg to power spells that made solo easy.
And no experience with the Knight (tank tank tank).
I feel run speed is slow in this game, can't wait to get the pet and mount (increase speed). I'm taking a break from it right now as I have a 10 day trial of Vanguard I'm playing.
Game is free, give it a shot and see if you like it. Oh! and I downloaded it at 1mb / sec (my connections max is 2). So quick to download if you have the connection for it. (VG downloaded at 0.2 mb/sec)
Oh, and a few additional comments.
My healer was specced different than mosts, and played different than most. So in a group with another healer, it was like I was a completly different class.
This game is also more concentraited on buffs than active skills. Like in EQ2 you would choose what skills to use in given situations, in this game you choose different buffs and use a much smaller set of active skills.
I dont mind grindy games as long as they are team focused. I used to play FFXI hours on end bullshitting with people gettin the buzz on and killing mobs.
Played it up to 35. Thought it was "okay". WAY to much grind for me personally.
Meh, if we could just get one person w/o broken english to make a thread about this game i would feel better. As is, it feels like gold farmers are setting the game up to be a cash crop.
I had the same problem, it was fun as hell in the earlier levels then the grind hit and I wasn't going through another Lineage II that was self torture in itself.
GUYS look at the title! New Game Open Beta Very Good....sucky sucky five dolla!! dont tell me u cant see cash farm written all over this piece of shyte!
Forum Link
I understand your feelings. The company that runs the US distribution is really the same company as their Asian version. The game does have some issues with the translation of skills not being the best done. There are still bugs and such. I would have started a new thread with my experiences, but this one was not to long. I am more engineering focused so my english may still be broken!
I'm still enjoying myself. Playing around with some new builds and such. They just added the cash shop to get their revenue stream in place. I kinda like the system they have set up for it. The cash shop runs off RP (Rohan Points). To get RP you either buy it with cash, or sell stuff to other players for RP. Works a lot like the EVE GTC system (where you can buy and sell game time cards for in game currency, and thus never have to pay for the game once you get set up).
They have some balancing to do with that shop though, not surprising as it was just put up. Also I'm not a fan of the selection on there. IMO with these free to play games, if you start having them as your main deal, no fault in throwing half a subscription or so a month into the store.
So, the link above was to a thread about if people thought the game was ready for the cash shop (and in the views of the gamers, once you open shop, the game is gold). I posted that as there was a rather interesting discussion between an employee (blue text) and a forum poster. Basically about a bot, and the blue guy was rather blunt about giving them a name so they could fix it, or stop posting OMG BOTS!!
Anyhow, still enjoying the game. I always get sucked into the games where you have ALOT of control over your character. In this one you have control over their attributes, and what skills to choose.
Cheers!
Oh, and about broken english. . . To me that just means the poster is an ESL type. And I have interacted with a lot of ESL people (most speak / write better english than me though) who are just amazing. I understand the frustration, as it does seem most botters / gold farms are asian as that is where the cheap labor is, but stil.
While I can appreciate your point of view as an unfortunate fact of our time, I have to disagree here. Sure the OP signed up very recently and is probably an employee of the company, I have to say his use of english is very good assuming it is ESL. He did not convert plurals very well, either missing the ' or did not convert the y to an ies. But far from the street walkers of Singapore, Thailand or Korea that you seem to refer to.
give this game a few months it will be exactly like SRO...feilds full of bots...chat full of spam
what about higher levels. because in lineage 2 you get 0.01% for every kill in the 70s
