I really enjoyed a lot of the art and writing he did for Palladium Games, sad to see another man that gave a lot to the industry that many enjoyed over the years gone.
Sadly most around here will have no idea who he is......

You're right most people don't. The way I see it though, know him or not every gamer should pay their respect. Because of men like him and handful of others the imagination of gaming continued to grow until we had video games.

He did a ton of work for Palladium Books; specificaly Rifts, and TMNT if I recall correctly. He also did Amber which was a completely diceless RPG from the mid to late 90s. Amber was ok, but the concept of roleplaying without dice threw a lot of people, so the game didn't do that well. He was mostly known as a writer. Man, 57 years old... that's way to young. RIP EW you will be missed.

Dunno, gaming outside of video gaming is still pretty strong.
D&D is still a viable product and just released a new version this month. Many, many P&P RPG's are still around and are still published every year.
Miniature gaming is still very popular, wargaming is still around...
CCG's are still all the rage.
Board games are still a great and popular option. In fact games today are a lot more fun then years ago. Try Catan or Decent or many other games targeted at adults. Nothing can replace sitting around a table with some friends and playing a game whether it's cards, risk or whatever you just can't beat it.
I have noticed video gamers tend to think gaming revolves around their chosen platform.
What is ever more sad, for me at least, is that when I read the topic I was thinking "Erick Wujcik, I remember that name, but from were?"
Then it dawned on me.
And I felt ashamed, because I used to be, and still is to a degree, a HUGE amber DRPG fan.
The work of Roger Zelazny is still one of my most common "returning reads" and I was signed up for the amber mailing list for a very long time as well as played the amber mud for, well a not so long time, but I did enjoy it.
To this day, from the begining of my MMO experience most of my characters have taken their names from the amber universe, Dworkin, Borel, Suhuy, Corwin and just now my AOC character got the name Fiona, but for females I used to go with Llewella, ( mostly because it was never taken ).
I used to run an extensive amber campaign and my very first website, back in 1995, was dedicated to Amber, ( that and GIF animations, because lets face it those were COOL back then ).
So I am going to dig up my old amber PnP books, ( of wich there were really only two ), and see if I can whip up the old gang after all these years and get a small campaing going in his Erick's honor.
Rest in peace Erick, have fun were ever you are going, and give Gary my best regards, I bet you two have something to talk about.
Allthough your two games were as different as two games can be.
Yours

Where is he from? RIP to him.
His work on Amber: Diceless more than made up for Rifts.
His contributions will surely be missed.
Currently Playing: Nothing...I'm developing.
Looking Forward To:
did he die in the game or rl ? :P
