I've noticed that Funcom requires a credit card number during the account registration process for their 7-day trial accounts. Now I am wondering if we will be required to provide a credit card number to register the 30-day trial account we will use to test the AI patch with.

I highly doubt you'll be required to give credit card info for the beta, simply because the standard client will be modified to plug us into a beta server...although it is a posibility...we'll find out soon enough.
AHH! Run away from the monster! He's going to eat us!
Socializer 80% Explorer 73% Achiever 33% Killer 13%
Killer 100% Socializer 40% Explorer 33% Achiever 27%
Seeing as you have to have an active account, thats why they give us the 30day keys, and activate the beta on that account then I think one would have to submit CC, else you can not create the trial account and so can not activate beta on it. Not 100% sure but this is prolly how it works..

Well, for me the relevance is that I don't have a credit card because I have an e-mail address. There is a database of all (just Canadian?) credit card owners that is cross-indexed with their e-mail addresses. That database has been hacked twice so far, the hackers get e-mail addresses ahead of time and use the e-mail addresse index key to quickly steal customer data. This can lead to identity theft, or credit charges that would not necessarily be insured by the creditor. So, as far as I'm concerned owning both a e-mail address and a credit card is for someone more trusting than me.
I did not need a credit card to sign up for an account with MMORPG so, hopefully our accounts for this beta for AI will not require a credit card number if they want billing information. The only reason I'd see them (Funcom) needing a credit card number is for age verification, though of course, they would like it to be effortless for testers to roll over to subscribed customers.
^^ and thats why i use pre paid bank cards

Pre-paid bank cards and similar types of services are not yet available in all places that MMORPG subscribers inhabit. Curiously not even much here where I live, which is a city with around 4 million people living in it. You'd think we would have these services by now but pre-paid gamecards are the best alternative I have found. However, I would not want to have to buy one just to go register for a beta.
I've seen such services offered by many american banks. Paybycash.com was working on something like a pre-paid credit card, but that was in testing last I looked. They do currently offer payment solutions for AO, but I'm really just curious if we would need to provide a card number to register the 30 day trial accounts for beta similar to the way we would register the 7-day trial accounts.
