Thats all I see in this game, NCsoft's originality is almost to the point of bloody beating a dead rat with a sledge hammer.
Only thing I see new in this game is wings, oooohhh wings, whoopiediefreaking-do. It looks like the same graphics as L2, the classes are all the simpliest things any 3 year old can imagine, and to make things even more un-interesting, theres 2 factions. oh wait, no.. dont tell me... are they... FIGHTING AGAINST EACHOTHER? NO wai. omgodz. Even the lore is as bland and boring as watching 60 minutes for the entire hour.
Comments
Wings, graphics like L2 and RvR.
You didn't spend too much time trying to form your opinion about this game, did you?
I am so glad that you don't like Aion. Thank you , please proceed to the exit...

Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
lol, even though I don't promote flaming, I think this guy deserves it, a debate about menaingless things, especially about meaningless things that have no research things, don't deserve to go un-hated.
Just my first thing, research, actaully look into the game, it is actually quite original, and has a whole lot more then you said.
Points to remember- research
-Think about what you are saying
-DOnt start flaming threads
-DOnt come to other games forums just to flame it because you play another game, and are not supposed to like the other games.
I guess, people, attack, let the flaming begin.
O, and in response to Ice Age, yes, please exit the Aion Forums, thank you, and Have a nice day.
It's funny, cause out of the 2 lolarguments he had, he couldn't even get the number of factions right. Trolls are getting lazy :<
"Nothing Special"
hmm coulda sworn thats what your mom said?
Hahaha. Mom jokes are the best!
Oben you are a douche bag.
LOL @ people who dont do research and then come here 2 flame...little nooblets ^_^ anyways im happy u wont play aion....i dont want to heal douch bags .........LIKE ICEAGE SAID.....Plz exit
How the hell do you pronounce Gotye?
Guys guys this is so great! The trolls are crawling out from wherever they were hiding and making the Aion forums a bit more lively.
The more I see of these shit threads (look no further at other threads on the same page) the closer we are to Aion's release
Come on, you have to feel a little pity for the guy.
Mommy's only going to foot the bill for one MMORPG and he's trying to justify playing another game like AoC or Warhammer and giving Aion the cold-shoulder.
Can't you see him plugging his fingers in his ears and continuously chanting "I won't regret not playing this beautiful game"?
dont play then
nobody cares
Translation: You banged his mom, and she told you nothing special. Lol, So she says you suck in the sack? Great job ripping yourself.
Fail.
We could attempt to remake this thread into a meaningful debate, cause I can clearly see why the OP thinks of Aion this way, though his post could've been better, what does make Aion special or diffrent from the others?
Every upcoming game's features have been seen in a way or another in older games. Aion mixes the best out of those (for me, and many others), and adds combat flight, aerial raids, an unpredictable NPC faction, the ability to get skills from different classes, and smaller details which don't really make or break a game.
Well personally I feel a bit the same way...I tried to do research, but when I went to the website I got about the same out of it. I've watched a few videos and nothing seems so amazing as everyone seems to be making it out to be. Maybe its a new world and new lore, but the game play seems so boring...
and graphics are l2 graphics...
u know it...
i know it...
we all know it...
thats a fact...about gameplay i hope its not as l2 because i hate it...
Then please spare yourself from the "agony" and don't play it. You'll be doing us a favour too by the looks of it, as half of what you said it actually quite laughable.
Again people are forgetting the Weather System?
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
While I think that L2 graphics are hard to beat, Aion beats them, keeping the massiveness.
The clothes are better separated from the body, making them look more natural in movement, the enviroments in Aion are alive, small bugs everywhere, particles effects here and there, the skies in Aion are detailed and beautiful, the shadows are way better defined...both games were computer friendly at their releases though, L2 can be played with a 8 years old graphics card, Aion can be played with a 4 years old graphic card.
which video did you look at where the gameplay seems boring?
Lineage 2 uses the War/Seige engine from Epic 2 , aka Half Life .. Lineage 2's graphic was best graphics on the market for years , maybe still are in some eyes. Most games which launched Eq2 and DAOC to name two , thier graphics got tired after about 2 years , maybe less.
L2 still has high end graphics , maybe second only to FFXI , and it defined the 2nd Generation era with knock offs , clones and every korean wanting to be them.
Aion is doing about the same , though its eye of the beholder , Conan has great graphics if you got high end machine , and like blood. Nothing much else is launching with crisp graphics , and the L2 style.
You should read the wiki they have , it covers the new elements and classes well enough.
I just looove how you guys react to my original post and reply with your own two sense, which some of you have absolutely nothing to contribute. But for those who have, they've talked about their graphics like its the entire game. Same with Age of Conan, I will not be playing that game because they focused EVERYTHING on their graphics. Theres barely any original gameplay in it. Now why should I go for a game that clearly has so much eye candy (Which I have no care for, I don't believe the graphics should make up the game, only a small fraction) But instead it should be the idea. Now don't get me confused with a troller, because I have researched this game and what I've come up with it was nothing special, but apparently you want me to elaborate:
There are some differences between L2 and Aion. The first being the lore. Instead of multiple races and being a cliche fantasy RPG, Aion takes the roll of more of a heaven vs hell aspect. Sort of interesting, but to tell the truth, korean game productions aren't known for their imagination so the lore is expected to be less than average.
Secondly, thats "new" is combos, previously done by a few other mmorpgs and countless single player games. These seem to act the same way as a rogue does in World of Warcraft. Built up points to use a finisher.
Then there are the graphics, yes fascinating. Don't get me wrong, graphics are a wonderful thing, but theres a limit on what kind of graphics are actually playable by everyone, and its not something that should be able to limit people by that, infact this game gives me the impression that they are only attracting attention is that they boast their graphics engine. Seems to me like an Age of Conan... Has anyone ever played Age of Conan? I have. It's a piece of crap with diamonds on the surface to sway people away from what it actually is. (Translation for the idiot that said my mom said he was nothing special, yes, I noticed, good job flaming yourself): Too much graphics that actually limits graphic cards so much that only the newest computers could actually handle it, and the gameplay was so repetitive that it was unbearable, take away the graphics and it was just a horrible game. And for those people who thinks Aion will be able to be played for 4 years ago of graphics, don't forget the RAM and the CPU needed to run those graphic cards smoothly. My guess is at least 2 sticks of ram and a 3 GHz processor.
I guess the only trademark that I see is wings, aerial combat, etc. Seems fun. But.... the lowest level to get wings is lvl 10. Seems to me that instead of basing the wings as a reward, they are trying to base everything around the wings. I mean really, who would take running over wings? So everyone has wings, seems to me they look all the same, but that will prolly change. I don't see anything that interests me that will make my view change, I just see a mediocre game.
A. It's not Heaven vs Hell, it's two halves of a split planet fighting one another for power.
B. Yes this game has high end graphics, however there is a lower setting for the game so that it can be run on lower end computers. The developers of have both explained and shown this many times.
C. Your fear of the developers concentrating on visuals more than gameplay and content is unjustified. Had you bothered to even check with beta testers or watch any of the CBT3 videos you might know this.
D. The wings will not replace walking/running. Why? Because there is a time limit for how long you can use those wings; a short time limit. Exception being in the abyss. I had thought everyone would have known this by now.
E. The lore is heavy. The beta testers will vouch for that. You can also tell by looking at the in game cinemas, that the storylines and plotlines is that which would rival FFXI.
F. Your right in the sense that alot of the of the things in Aion have been done before. However to expect a completely original MMO to have no familiar systems or content from previous games is somewhat ridiculous. The thing about Aion is that they are taking all the things people like within an MMO game and improving them.
Anywhay, in the end play what you want. Have fun.
Oben, now this is a good post and the one you had to make when you created the thread, props on that.
However, Is there any upcoming game with an "exclusive feature" or as you said, "a trademark"?
The lore isn't about heaven vs hell, it's about the creation of the god Aion, the balaurs, who revealed against him, he had to create the daevas, but due to a conflict of interests and points of views after the tower of eternity was destroyed, the daevas ended up on a civil war which consequences were bad for the Asmodians, they had to move to a darker and tougher part of the world, evolving in a different manner. This is narrowing the lore as much as I can, I recommend you to read the official sites lore, and aionsource.com wiki's lore part, it's a good read.
The combos system is about finding the best DPS technique possible, and about reactive skills, everytime you block/dodge/parry, the skills you have ready for those conditions will be usable, then there is this thing about setting up a list of skills, which can end up derivating in 3 possible new skills, it's probably not the most innovative thing ever, but it's trully fun cause it doesnt change the rules 100%, you get to enjoy the combat at a fast pace with not so many button mashing required, yet the system is a bit more complex than the usual fighting system.
They are going for a low end computer target, the game can be played during beta, on mid settings, with a Geforce 6600 and a P4 2,8 GHz, a PC like that costs 200$ nowadays.
And wings is just another skill, you can't be flying around the whole time, wings, from the lore, are an ethereal form of energy which need a zone rich in "aether" in order to work. There are zones where you can't fly, there are zones where you can fly. The wings have a timer on them, they last 1 minute, you can't be flying forever. The wings are a strategical part of the combat cause of the bonuses (not only speed, but defence, attack, etc) but also as a way to use skills that you cant use on the floor, timing your flight times perfectly will add another dimension in massive pvps.
Aion mixes the best things I enjoyed from previous games: RvR, massive open world with hardcore non limited nor instanced PvP, sieges, control of hunting zones, Raid bosses in open world like in L2, and few classes which happen to have different playstyles (tank can go with 2 handed swords and be more offensive) and adds some interesting concepts, the third, uncontrolable faction balancing things out or fighting for themselves, the stigma system, which seems like the one seen in FF7 allowing you to get skills from other classes, a meaningful crafting system, weather affecting the recolection of goods, the ability to use whatever gear model you want and add the atributes of another set, quest cutscenes to tell you the story, and many, many other details which you can only know if you've been following the game properly.
Good job learning!! Now please pass this on to all your newbie poster friends. When you start a topic, you should consider posting as much info as to WHY you have such an opinion, so people can correctly and hopefully intelligently respond to your opinion without momma jokes and douche references.
Like it has been said, very nicely too, it's not the graphics we love, it's the little details that missing in other MMO's that Aion will have in ONE package. As it is I have about 4 games I like that have a little bit of this and a little of that. Boy would I love one game that has it all, and Aion might just be that game. Graphics aside, though they are a nice perk.

So, then, can you elaborate on these 'little details' that culminate to make Aion a great game?
I don't think it's trolling to really ask what makes Aion stand out. I think the majority of MMORPGer's are pretty depressed as there aren't many good games out at the moment. We're all striving to find something, but everything keeps letting us down (for example, AoC).
So, if you'd be so kind...
