Folks,
On Monday, you'll be able to download the client via a solution that is, quite frankly, better than what we are currently using. Given the concern/issues with the current Torrent setup, I can't imagine any reasonable person being disappointed with what we are going to do next week. However, in order to get that set up properly, we weren't able to offer it today. I'm sorry for the delay but I know that you'll like what we are doing on Monday better than what we would have been able to do today. And no, it won't cost anything as per my recent post on this subject.

Also from the preorder page: Your Open Beta code can be found on the card in your pre-order box or in your pre-order confirmation email. Open Beta files will be available for download on August 18th.
So it looks like we'll get the client on monday! And even better, no slow-arse torrent! Woot!

Thanks for the update. Does anyone know if we can just use the current closed beta client and patch it? Or do we have to download all over again?
No conformation of patching or a whole new download for those that have the CB client, but I'd imagine it would be pretty easy just to patch up to OB client status. Wouldn't make much sense to have to download the entire client again.
The download will be for the preview weekend. NOT Open beta. 50,000 SE pre-orders are going to get in for it when it starts( probably next weekend). Stop confusing folks.

The Open Beta will be level capped and content restricted. You will be allowed to choose any of the game's 20 unique careers and advance through rank 20. You will also be free to explore and battle across Tiers 1 and 2 of each army's homeland. Please note that any characters created during the Open Beta will NOT carry over into the live game as they will be wiped from the servers.
To register for Open Beta:

Yeah torrents dont work for me, i need an HTTP download but thats good news though, i just set up my account and entered my 2 pre-order codes
Any idea or news on the European players?
Will we be able to download the client as from the 18th aswell ?
When will we be able to add our pre-order OB code into our account?
Or will we be shifted aside untill the US has the bulk of their downloads settled ?
I know you guys have a much bigger country, but don't leave the little 'uns in the dark !
Is this going to be the same client being used now? I just got a CB invite with the torrent link, but's the DL will take 2 days and it's eating ALL my bandwidth...
If I can play with that client come Monday, I would much rather wait until the non-torrent DLs are up.

Wish I knew anything about the european ob info, but I have no idea.. GOA is really botching the prerelease for WAR so far, imo. As far as the OB client being the same as the CE closed beta download being offered now, I'm not sure, but I would think the OB client would be a bit more patched then the current CB client, but thats just my opinion. And as for the comment about the DL only being for the preview weekend, I believe the preview is an early open beta start, basically. You could of easily checked the warhammer site to see, it is indeed the OB client, instead of accusing me of confusing people.. which I'm sure confused a few people..

I believe, you will be able to use the beta client once you enter in a valid CD Key from the box.
I managed to pull it down at 450kb/sec nothing slow about that.
Wow! I have only eclipsed 100 kb/s once since I switched over to utorrent (faster than bittornado).
Can all you people with the client be seeders for me tonight? haha
You have packet encryption enabled, and have the winsock patch for more then 25 connections?
i opened up my connections too 800...i was dling between 800kbps and 1.2Mbps
Also make sure your ports are forwarded. Utorrent is the best btw

windows control panel, windows firewall, exceptions, add port. check utorrent on which port it is using, open it up for both udp and tcp
So I have exceptions for:
utorrent (TCP-In)
utorrent (UPD-In)
and I added an exception for the port that utorrent is using.
(Also, I clicked on the "Add Windows Firewall Exception" button)
Is that all I am supposed to do?
pretty much....in utorrent , if your internet service is a high bandwidth, turn up your connections alot...i think default is like 125....i turned mine up to 800 and i started rocking it. Downloaded it in 4.5 hours

If you can get the client and have an account ready, why wont you be able to play it? It only makes sense that if they have all that set up and ready they should let you in the game.
Probably because they need to finish the OB build. Get the OB servers ready. Associate OB accounts with logins, etc. Lamens terms....It's not ready.
It isn't like they flick a switch and suddenly open beta is ready. It is safe to assume with the NDA still up when they wanted it down already and the open beta download being delayed a few days that they might just be a bit behind schedule.
