AoC could really use another company to buy it and take over. Failcom hasn't done anything win my support since they seem to have no clue whats going on.

After 2 months of terrible patches that made the game worse I had to call it quits. Maybe by some miracle Sony or someone will buy it and give it an overhaul but I think Funcom (Gaute) would let it die before that sadly.

Sony does not buy games and give them meaningful overhauls.  Sadly they put in just enough effort to keep them afloat.

I really don't know if it makes much sense for any company to buy a failed title and spend to much money trying to recover it.

Sorry, in what way would Sony buying AoC improve the situation?

Just look at how they mutilated one of the best MMORPGs...

Age of Conan will die with Funcom hopefully never to be seen again, and with luck Gaute will never work in the industry again

Sony is great at over hauling games. If they bought AoC, you can bet you will be seeing a large reduction of classes and a first person shooter style combat in no time!

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I too, fail to see how an SOE involvement would improve anything. The reason I left AoC is because it started to look like an SOE game. More of what's killing the game? No thanks.

There is no way that SoE would try to buy AoC...  AoC is too far away and would be near impossible for them to manage.  Not to mention they really don't need it.

Would it help, I'm sure it could.  They have done a great job with Vanguard and I think they learned some hard lessons with SWG.

Vanguard was already a fine game underneath all of the performance issues.  Aside from finishing what Sigil had left to do in APW, merging servers all SOE has basically done is take 1 year to fix performance.  Honestly they just bought the Sigil team, cut their size down, tossed on a manager or two and let nature take its course.  There wasn't any miracle work done at all.

The issues with Conan are much deeper than just performance and not something SOE has done wonders with in the past.  They have struggled enough with the games they make inhouse to even consider another title with such problems made by a company that doesn't even speak the same language.

    Easy.

1.) We get to watch as Gaute sees his company crumble because of his idiocy, and Funcom goes the way of the dodo.

2.) The kool-aid drinking fanbois will have to change their flavor of preference for mistreatment in order to keep playing.

3.) The fanbois get to keep playing the game noone else wants.

4.) SOE will have 2 new games added to their station pass (AO and AoC), making it almost worthy of paying for ( well, not quite).

Some of you haters and pathetic nerds really need to find something better to do than bash games/companies 24/7.

I'm not a fanboy, nor a hater of Funcom's. While I'll most likely quit AoC within a month, it's not nearly as bad as all you trolls on this forum make it out to be.

As for this topic. If Funcom sold AoC to Arena Net or their parent company, NCSoft, AoC can be salvaged. Too bad ANet and NCSoft have their hands full right now with Guild Wars 2 and Aion to bother even thinking about saving a game like AoC. SOE will do nothing for AoC, except, maybe put it on life support.

soe would make a bad situation worse.

It took FC five years to develop what they have.  Now that the game is live, I wouldnt hold my breath to see any game changing improvements for the next two to three plus years.  At that point, this game (if still around) will be a ghost town. People will have moved on to the next big thing (as they are pretty much doing now).

When WOTLK and Warhammer are released, AoC will experience even greater failure.  Why would SOE, or any one else for that matter, invest in a game that cannot compete?

Basically the game needs so many fixes that there's no way they can get what was promised launched in time to effectively compete with what's to come.  You can't advertise bananas when you have rocks, finally screaming when you have bananas and expect people to come running.

I expect any game company wouldn't in their right mind want to have anything to do with what Funcom has published at this point.

Which is perfect for SOE.  Look at the other games they have :)  At least this one is already ruined, making life that much easier for smed and company :)
