Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Are you physically active?

I was just wondering if any of you gamers work out or exercise regularly. I'm pretty curious because some of you sit on the computer all day and others just check for updates on this page.

Take this BMI test to see what your body mass index is. Click here.
Or click here for the WebMD BMI calculator.

My BMI is 17! I am waaay to thin. I've been trying to gain weight. It's harder than you think if you want to do it right. I try to work out as much as I can and I drink protein shakes and all that. The weight gain ones. I'm not anorexic or belimic or anything like that. I have an extremely high metabolism. I don't know what the case is, but Ultima Online has tought me how to go without food for a while. If I didn't quit when I did, I'd probably be dead. :[

Anyway, I was just wondering if you were in fit shape or not. Just take the poll and leave a post. :]

Yeah i excersise / workout on a daily basis , weight lifting , push ups , chin ups , sit ups , cardiovascular the whole shabang. Lol i got 20 BMI 6ft 147lb.

I think its inaccurate though cuz i was fooling around with it and i put in 6 ft and 180lb and it said thats not overweight. My ass thats not overweight lol , anyone who weights 180lb and is 6ft is definetly overweight in my book lol.

Oh yeah and i see how u talk about that u drink ''Protein shakes'' LOL wtf why?? you should just eat oatmeal for breakfeast and then rotate every day with chicken/tuna fish/ salmon for lunch or dinner. And uhh i think i saw you saying that ur not seeing results or anything??? You should do 2 sets of whatever weight lifting excersise your doing , also you should make sure you cant do more then 10 reps or else you should upgrade another 5lb or whatever.(Im sure you already know all of this but whatever :) lol) Example: Bicept curls weight:25lb freehands: 2 sets: 10 reps on first set : 6-10 reps on second.

Oh and i see your trying to gain weight. You should eat lots of starchy stuff such as pasta and never let your stomache go empty :) well good luck lol im sure none of this was much help to you but yeah wahtever lol

That is so inaccuret it does not take into acount muscle, and thats what bmi is suppose to do... just from the two factors of hieght and wieght you can not figure out your bmi... I wrestle, and I was 125 at 5' 5" and had 4.25% body fat.... on this scale it says I had 20bmi... under 6% is mad thin, (madatory bmi tests when wrestling, or at least in the beging of the season)... the most accurate way is they wiegh you under water and use a special equation, I am not exactly sure how it works... or you could get a scale that sends an eletric pulse through the body and checks how fast it goes through you... electricy moves faster through fat... yeah so basically that forumla is way off...

"Oh yeah and i see how u talk about that u drink ''Protein shakes'' LOL wtf why?? you should just eat oatmeal for breakfeast and then rotate every day with chicken/tuna fish/ salmon for breakfeast or dinner."

lol, I don't have time for that. I wake up 6:00 to go to school, get home at 3:00 and go straight to work. After that I come home at 7:00, do my homework and try to get lifting in. But it's summer now, and I'm rather lazy in the summer.

"And uhh i think i saw you saying that ur not seeing results or anything???"

    I never said that.

I think that BMI scale is a little inaccurate too. I'll add another one to get a more accurate one. But I don't think it will change anything because it's an overall inaccurate test. I wasn't going to have everyone go to their local underwater weighing station and get themselves weighed for the sole purpose of responding to this thread.

Click here for the Web MD BMI calculator. It's a little better.

Yeah it cant magically guess how much muscle you have lol. Like for instance lets say theres a guy thats 5'10 and he puts in 145lb as his weight and then the thing comes up with him as 20bmi for instance. Now lets say another guy is 5'10 but he weighs 130 so he puts that in and the thing comes up with like 17bmi. Now you would expect the guy with 17bmi to be more slim but thats not exactly the case. Since the guy that weighs less could have more body fat then muscle and most just be bone and flesh and he could have lets say 26% body fat or some shit so hes basically ''skinny fat''. While the guy that weighs more could have more muscle and only have 5-15% body fat and could be much more slimer then the guy that weighs less , BUT this thing cannot tell that which is why its so inaccurate lol.

6' 180 lbs. is definitely not overweight. I am 6'1" and 185 pound and that is "Government approved" apparently. Also, I consider myself decently muscular. I do have my lovely abs and all. I swim regularly.

For push ups i got 1 a second. So 60 push ups in 1 minute. But after that i get really tired hehe. Chin ups are hard, i managed to get 37 and then that was it. But i still kicked everyone elses a** in my class, so i'm happy.

These things aren't even close to reality.

The former running back for the Dallas Cowboys, Emmitt Smith, was listed with a playing height & weight of 5'10" and 210 pounds. By these tests, he is obese. Have you ever seen a picture of Emmitt Smith?

Skinny people can do pushups and chin ups so easily because there is no body weight to counter their efforts. LOL! It's when we get to the weights that we die!

Yeah people with big muscle or just big in general are often considered obese. That's one reason how the BMI calculators are flawed.

Personally, as a weight lifter, I choose to weight lift every day. When taking a day off of weight lifting I will force myself to run for an hour and a half.  A lot of people neglect this part of weight lifting, which is why people might see a lot of keg-bellied weight lifters.

(I wonder how they can get the bar to their chest when their stomach sticks out a lot further!)

    1) When using a straight-Bar for bicep curls always always lift up onto your tip toes when your elbow and the straight bar are parallel. The added pressure onto the bicep itself will INCREASE the contraction by 10%.

-- Muscles grow by contraction. The harder the contraction the toner the muscle will end up being over time.

-- A lot of people use more weight than they should. When lifting weights those people use other parts of the body to make up for their lack in ability to push up that weight with the specified muscle. For that reason, a lot of people lose their contraction advantages and get sloppy looking, half developed muscle.

    2) Eating a lot of protein helps, Chicken, Egg’s, Tuna, and any red meat will do the trick.

    3) If you’re looking to get Abdominal muscles and you're keg-bellied, the worst thing someone could do is start working their abs. Six packs are basically brought forth by diets. The best way to bring them out is by doing that which follows:

(remember; everyone has a six pack underneath their keg-belly)

Drink 8 cups of water daily.
Water acts as a natural weight repellent. If one should drink the recommended 8 cups daily, certain reactions within the body start to perform correctly.

    ICE COLD WATER!
If the water is cold it shocks the body and the body forces it to warm before it reaches the stomach. That interaction helps in losing weight because it enforces Thermo-genetics

Six Meals A Day! This rule only works when a person eats until Satisfied, not until they’re full and can no longer eat. When eating six meals until satisfied your body increases what is called Thermo-genetics. What that means is; the body is always in a constant state of burning calories. So no matter what a person is doing they’re losing weight!

    4) After each work out I suggest that one should go get at least 1.2 grams of protein per LBS of weight on their body. This is adequate enough to induce healing, and muscle growth. This is usually done an hour to an hour and a half after the workout.

Also, one should seek out a Candy bar as the body will have low Glucose levels. One should always increase these levels, otherwise they end up feeling sluggish for the rest of the day.

I think I am going back on Atkins since I am tired of eating french fries. I eat more protein that I should. 60-100 grams a day. All I eat is eggs, hamburger, milk and nuts. Atkins would be perfect to lose my beer gut.::;^`::

Lol...my bmi is 29. I'm 5'10 and 205, but I work out with weights. I do need to loose about 10 pounds or 15 pounds or just replace it with more muscle. I haven't been as active walking or hiking since I've had shingles in my eye and ear and have been sick.I don't think that bmi calc is right though. Yeah good stuff i pritty much knew all of this hehe. But ice cold water?? where did you hear about that? Also how many glasses of water you should drink is dependant on how much you weigh i belive , a  guy  thats 5'10 and weighs 130 should drink 6 a day i think. Yeah its funny when people wanna get six-packs and they think all they needa do is sit ups.

''When lifting weights those people use other parts of the body to make up for their lack in ability to  push up that weight with the specified muscle. For that reason, a lot of people lose their contraction advantages and get sloppy looking, half developed muscle.''

What do you mean by this? As in if someones doing a bicept curl they should make sure there only using ther biceps for the excersise? instead of also letting some of ur chest muscle and what not help lift it? is that what you mean.
