Sorry about this large wall of txt =/
This whole period of internet gaming forums really confuses the hell out of me. I have played WAR from way back in closed beta up to today. I have seen the game evolve from something unplayable to a client that I have yet to crash playing, and I know they already have better builds ready to push out. I am very impressed with what they are doing/have done.
I am just curious if there will ever be a game that the majority of gaming forum posters don't bash. Warhammer is the target of plenty of posts talking about how bad it is. If it isn't for you then walk away from it. It is everything I expected it to be. Does everyone just have unrealistic expectations for mmorpgs? I mean don't get me wrong, I have been let down before. One good example would be Anarchy Online on launch day. I was also a little sad about WoW because I had imagined this game that put the War in Warcraft a mmorpg with rts elements, but all that aside WoW came out and secured its spot in mmo history even if it was for PvE elements, and brought many new players to the market. Despite a lot of those new players that were brought to the genre were not very mature or pleasant people.
The point is that you have a game that delivers on the gameplay promise by the developers. They wanted a game that was War driven in a fantasy universe. They wanted to make a game where you take part in and influence the course of the war. Thats what they gave us. Its like a movie. I know there are plenty of movies that come out that you probably wouldn't spend money to go see, but there are also a lot more people who would pay for it. Games are no different. Everyone isn't supposed to like the same things.
Play what you want, but don't be the prick who insults or belittles other people based on their likes and interests. I had always wanted to go into game developement, but with the industry the way it is who would want to? They create a product they believe in, and hundreds of arm chair developers make it their quest to bash and flame it all over the internet. You all should be happy that we have so many mmo's. Just a few years ago there were no choices at all in the MMO market.
Thats all for now, sorry if there are typos or spelling errors, and sorry if it bores you to death =p
