I will probably be playing WAR untill Mines of Moria (while still playing LotrO). It has some really nice ideas and features and I hope Turbine will "steal" some of the stuff
Of the other games on your list only Cronicles of spellborn interests me, seems like a unique world and combat system... A UO clone with EQ graphics and probably the worst community ever (atleast thoose posting in this forum) doesnt intererst me... Aion seems pretty cool but I dont like the Korean style!
I think its nice that there is coming out more quality MMOs and hopefully some of them wont be dissasters!
If WoW = The Beatles and WAR = Led Zeppelin Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
The only game in development currently that grabbed my interest is Fallen Earth. Since it has just entered alpha, I think I'll have a couple more good years in LOTRO, which is perfectly fine

Having MoM being such an extensive add to the already great game, I am having no intentions on leaving to any other game. In fact, I feel like I am waiting for a new game, with all that is being said of the expansion. Just my sentiment.
Heh, well i would say a big "told you so to all", but in fact I haven't told anyone anything regarding the lack of quality in the upcomming mmorpgs just because, don't know, im busy living and in the free time playing a good quality game named Lotro .
Now seriously,
I just say, if you're ok with a current mmorpg title, why you even reach out for another one?
With all these hype storms around new games, i don't know, it's like seen a teenage girl flapping her hands around her face while speaking in a danm high pitched voice just gossiping to someone about the shalower thing you could imagine.
All those posts about "x" game will own "y" game are just absurd, someone said AoC will be greater than Lotro *cough* wrong.....then WAR will be so freakign awesome that will blow out of the water every other mmorpg out there *cough* again....epic failure.
Don't know seems like lately mmorpg communities are more intrested in freakign hype than the actual quality of the games, more intrested in trying every freaking title out there just to gossip about it in forums than to stay to the one they are confortable with, the one that captured their fantasies and attention....i just don't get it.
The only thing missing lotro is actually that all those epic failures mmorpg leave the market alone and stop making the players wonder around, testing...beta testing...alpha testing....trial testing and then failure testing their games.
Wow in it's days had an advantage that was that the mmorpg market was kinda calm, so it grabbed a lot of players attention, now a great and absolutely better title like lotro can't do the same for all the factor i just wrote, it's quite unfair that some players aren't playing the best current mmorpg title out there as it now.
Advice: Get your gaming asses to lotro, you'll find a high quality, nice polished, content plenty, graphically beautifull, story breathtaking, continiously expanding and community great game (along some other nice things).
I started my MMORPG career off with Star Wars galaxies a good 4 years ago, left 3-6 months after NGE messed it up.
Went to Vanguard, waste of money, played for 7 days, got to level 7, should have been upto level 20 but was constantly getting ganked, respawn, ganked, repeat.
Went to GuildWars as it boasted no monthly fees, stayed for a good few months but got bored easilly after reaching max level (20) in a week.
Went to Lord of the Rings online without trying trial first (very uncommon for me), loved the game, eventually i got bored though as it's just like all other MMORPG's out from my point of view and from what i want in an MMORPG.
Tried WoW trial, hated it within first hour due to bad community spam in OOC when someone asked a simple question and recieved abuse for 43 minutes afterwards.
Wasted money on buying Age of Conan too.
Currently playing City of Heroes and City of Villains, game is good, should keep me occupied for about 1-3 years.
Planning on being a lifer for Star Trek online when it's released in 3-4 years.
Planning on giving Knights of the Old Republic online a try when it's released as i loved the single player games and i'm hoping it's "similar" to pre-NGE SWG
I do play around a lot with MMORPG's that catch my interest but thats because i haven't found anything that hold a candle to pre-NGE SWG yet, chances are i never will but only time will tell.
Well very glad you have found an MMORPG that you love Solareus. I have yet to find one that has lasted longer than a month of playtime, but so far EVE seems to be going well. Was actually considering giving LOTRO another shot. I always really liked the graphics and the environments were really cool. There is a free trial for it isn't there?

Lotro had no hype. Never heard of it before I got a beta invite out of the blue. Tried it, liked it, and up till today I am impressed with both the stability, the quality, the developer mentality (free regular content), the customer service (been helped by GM's every time, within 5 minutes every time), and of course the community. It can only be ruined intentionally. This is the way to go, and smart developers will listen (we hope).

ROFL at that. Wow is just that, a phenomena that somehow keeps going because of it's inertia, that will eventually wear off hopefully.
And to the rest of the post, yeah that;s the point of it, try to find the gam ethat holds you, if you haven't found it yet, keep looking, but if you found it, just keep playing it until it dies.
I did almost the same thing as you did, just with different mmorpg titles, and finally found home in lotro, bought lifetime and having a blast every time I log in. I've not even tried a trial of another mmorpg since and i'm very proud of it. Like i kinda said in my previous post, this game has everythign i want in a mmorpg (and the only thing to my eyes lacking a lil bit, is getting some love in moria, yes, PvP).
LOTRO is a good game and all and I have been playing it since closed beta but i am just burned out and the community Sucks for me. Ya i have met some good guys but I have been burned so many god damn times it starts making LOTRO not worth playing at all. That is why I'm going back to CoH/V, My first and favorite mmorpg and I also have such a great time playing it. Ya it does get repetitive but don't all mmorpgs? at least a lil' bit. I'm glad you all like LOTRO but it can't give me that mmorpg fix anymore. I have been burned too many times by the people in that game and I have been burned out of the game.
Wish you all the best for LOTRO:)

Absolutely. It is a 14 day trial. Brandywine is the most popular, as you probably know.I have played LotRO for about a year now, and I only wish I started when it came out.
I try almost every game that comes out, just so I can know about them. I am not always looking for a better game, but rather trying to see what is new. After all, no game really 'owns' another game, as it is all a matter of opinion.

I totally agree with you on SWG. Man, I loved that game. I still sign in from time to time just to do a tour.
LOTRO has been the game for me. I've tried others too, and they just don't pan out. I love starting a game, so I love trials. Sometimes you need a break from the main game you are playing, just to refresh yourself. And when you come back, you are in love again.
It all boils down to the fact that we ALL have different taste and expectations.
I'm pretty sure if I found a little anime MMO with cute little anime girls, I could stumble off of LotRO for a little while.
Some people are vastly more energetic and passionate about playing all types of MMORPG. I would say "More Power to you!" And I hope their quest ends with a game that is as much a delight to play as LotRO is to me.
Yea, I've been MORE than frustrated. Yea, I've had "grind bog down, will this ever end" moments. But that aspect is very close to RL as much as anything.
So, hats off to all of you MMO junkies and pioneers. Keep up the good work. I'll just sort of hang tight with LotRO and applaud you from here.
I play WH40K, so I'll stick with the models, terrain and ugly dice rolls.
btw, if there is a little anime MMO with cute little anime girls... don't tell me. Please.
LOTRO is my base game and I never regretted the decision to buy the life subscription. While I am not going to claim it is the best game out there, I find the package that LOTRO offers perfect for me.
During past year or so I did a bit of game hopping but ended up always returning to LOTRO. There is no reason for me to beleive that future will be any different. While I might meander around with variosu trials and games I plan to keep LOTRO as my base.
For me it is a very enjoyable and a very relaxing game.
Having in mind the post above mine I am rather sorry I don't know any MMOs with anime girls...
Bleh, I'm currently subscribed but I can't be arsed to log on. Why? No one wants to group. Lonelands is exactly that, a very boring wasteland that I can spend hours in and not see one person.
*btw that's on Brandywine, once the trials peter out theres not a soul left till 50.
But everything else is.... Turbines Fault..... I miss the music system... other than that..it was a community full of drama queens and uptight folks for the most part..... Add in a lil GM revenge and then some stalking and you have a no go for me!
I play other games aswell, Saga of Ryzom cause i believe in indie games alot, shadowbane, always try new f2p games, and most likely dark fall when it comes out, but LotrO is the one main game that will never be deleted from my hard disk
another one down another one down another one bites the dust ! (WAR)
WELL Online is looking interesting too...

As far as mmos right now LOTRO is my mainstain for the forseeable future all of the games I'm looking forward to are no where near release not even being talked about much for that matter, but as far as LOTRO goes it has the most going for it for me, The Epic story line in relation to the time period in game is very well done and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next expansion and even more so the next after that one.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
Ive tried so many MMO's after SWG pre-CU was taken from me. LOTRO is the only one that keeps me intrested in playing. Allthough I take brakes from LOTRO, I always comes back.
Got a feeling that LOTRO will be the last MMO I ever play.
Hauken Stormchaser I want pre-CU back Station.com : We got your game Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!
just finished OB with Warhammer Online, Think it is a great game but LotRO is just better for me. Mines of Moria , I can't wait to go inside and explore that place.. then all the new books that will lead up tot he next expansion ! WooT
I'm still playing the WAR OB, but so far I'm right there with you. I posted more detailed impressions in the other thread. WAR is a good game so far, but it's not as much to my tastes as LoTRO.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Hope you enjoy LotRO and MoM.
But, not for me. To much forced grouping in LotRO. Tired of it.
Have played a LOT of MMORPGs, and I can recognize that Warhammer Online is going to be a runnaway hit. It is just a whole lot of fun to play. All aspects have been a blast.
Played LotRO since Beta, but am done with it now. Resigned from my Guild (was Officer), and am moving on.
