Considering returning after 2 years

I have been looking into coming back to the game after two years away, I re-installed the game last night, got teh Playonline up, my ID was still accepted so i get that up, then when I try to access the game I have to put my password in, do it first tiem all ok then it gives the second screen where the pop up keyboard comes up, wont accept my password their

Cant get into the Playonline system far enough to renew my subscription so i went to the FFXI Enix Site and searched in suppport on there, eventually I noticed a section that states 'If you have been unsubscribed for 6 months you must purchase a new copy of the game'

Is this true? Do i need to buy a new copy of the game for the activation codes? Will my Chars on my old account still be there ? (had a load of mid to high level and my RDM even had two of his class specific gear items)

i think it may be there to keep sold accounts out.  If i where you id contact playonlines support they where offering a come back too the game  program recently so they will probably be able to fix this issue for you.

you can buy the all in 1 ffxi collection at any gaming store for 19 bucks so even if you need to re purchase it 19 bucks for the base game and all xpacs isnt too bad.

Might have alook at that, its more about wanting to keep my chars more than anything, think grinding all those levels again would just put me off
