People talk about vaporware, but has anyone actually seen a video or interview in month's, I was just curious what happened to it? Release 2008? Thought this game would be getting more vaporware troll's. They are, I guess still sore about there Darkfall predictions!

Well, there's no vaportrolls because the game is currently in open beta in Korea and does exist. We know NHN has the rights to the North American distribution and they had that press release back in the summer stating that they are planning on releasing it via their ijji.com game portal. The question is when, and to that, there has yet to be any form of a concrete answer.

Only thing that made me question anything lately is that GameInformer had it set to release this month in their magazine on the PC....

What, that Darkfall wasn't going to make their 2008 launch date?

    How's that looking?

i had such high hopes for this game two years ago now i dont even care anymore. its supposed to come out this year but i wont believe it until i see it

Think I saw this at an e3 a couple years ago and was told by 1 of the guys working there probably at least 3-4 years off. That would still be 1-2 years. Pretty sure it was this. Beyond that, I have no idea, never kept up with it or anything. I figured when I started hearing of nearing completion, I would look into it.

I played in the Korean beta 3 months ago. It is pretty polished and definitely is a real game. The real question is when and if it will be launched in the states...but I can confirm 110 percent the game is pretty much in a finished state, at least in Korean. We'll see about the North American version. I was not too impressed. Pretty mediocre, really...but I couldn't understand most of what was going on...maybe it is better than it played. It's more like Unreal Tournament 3 with some PvE. it's not crap but it is not the amazing game we all thought it would be.

Oh dear Zachdude - you have so missed the point.  No-one's doubting the existence of the magazine article - doh! - just the chances of this game actually being released anytime soon.

Well then expect to be very disappointed if ijji.com is going to be in control of this. I played Drift City which is an NHN game and they just do not dish out the updates you get one maybe 3-4 months. So with this in mind i am really unsure about this game.

tbh i dont think that sounds too bad if it still has vehicles and everything. And thats not too bad as an online game where there isnt a subscription charge. Micropayments for stuff maybe :/

Well the korean players hate the game, too them its a joke. That might tell you something about it.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

this is actually good news. they have VERY different tastes in games than us. if they don't like it, chances are we will.

    Hi,

I was on Korean beta for this for awhile.

Yes, it is an ok game, but ultimately it is not an MMO.

You quest to about level 12-15, where the PvE ends and PvP begins for the rest of the game. The PvE is nothing special really.. A lot of missions are just killing bots in a battleground where you'll eventually face players. There's a few cool missions, perhaps 1 or 2.

The PvP, unfortunately, is limited by the Unreal 3 engine and only currently supports 16v16 instanced battlegrounds. I read somewhere that Webzen haven't done the networking properly, and when they tried the large scale battles briefly, it lagged to all hell and crashed things. They've said they wanted to have like 32v32, 64v64, 128v128 etc, but this is just not possible in an MMO environment for this engine, and hence it never made any appearance on beta at all after this fail..

Essentially the only "MMO" aspect to this game is the city, or lobby if you will, where you go to wait while your battleground loads up. That is the game really. The levelling system grants you more weapons, more abilities, vehicles to be used in the maps and so on. The city is the only "zone" in the game outside of the battlegrounds (or maps really). The battleground interface used to connect really just reminds you of an in-game browser in so many other FPS games.

If Call of Duty 4 had an in-game lobby system where people could run around then connect to servers, and they threw in an auction house, that would be about how MMO this game is.

While it's not a bad game, it really is just an unreal-based shooter that is sort of lacking, given the fact Webzen isn't a veteran in the genre. I mean if you've played UT3, you've played this. Side jump, double jump, rocket launcher, APC, tank.. it's all there.

I could see myself playing it for a bit of shoot-em-up fun every now and then, if there were no subscription fee. There may not be a sub fee apparently, but i've heard of some kinda Korean payment model, where you buy items or something etc.

If you think this is gonna be your next MMO or a real A+ title, you're definitely in for a disappointment. Combine this with the fact the Western market really seems to have no stable developer for it, this game isn't really going to be hitting big in my eyes. I figured it for the next Planetside, but it's not even close.

Thanks for the helpful info SuperNick.  Given that this title is 2 years late so far and counting, it's hard to understand what took them so long when there's so little substance to it.

Sounds like it's more like Hellgate London, in that it's more of an action-rpg than an actual MMORPG.  Actually hellgate is more a action/rpg MUD (Multi-User Dungeon/Dimension).  From what everyone has written, seems like it's suffering from lack of content (like quests/story arcs), where Hellgate suffered from lack of PvP (which is nearly non-existent in it).

When will developers get it right, and make a true twitchbased WASD FPV/3rdPV MMORG in a huge, persistent world full of monsters mobs and people to pvp and gank... one can only dream
