Im a casual eve player, while I never actually sold a time card online I have paid Isk for them.
Now do you guys think theres anything wrong with making Isk by selling time cards?
Do you think CCP should stop this all together and make everyone farm isk the regular way?
To be honest buying a 30 day time card and selling it for a quick 300 million isk is starting to look like a viable option for a person that can only log in a couple hours a week to farm.
What do you guys think?

They've already allowed it on there current server i would let it stand. With the new expansion coming out next summer and talk about starting a new server i would not let it happen there.

What new server? I thought eve was getting worm holes to expand space so new corps could take over different areas that the big boys didn't already hold.
A new server would mess up that "Eve, one persistent universe" feel.

What would add more subscriptions new monthly paying costumers and get away for the gank fest going on with the new players. Answer new PVE server with worm holes to the current server. This has not been said by CCP it is a common sense busniess look see.

You want a Pve server? why? this game is built on pvp.
Anyway I initially inquired about the GTC thing since i may buy one and don't want to be black listed for doing it lol.
Edit: also Eve creating a pve server would destroy the game. alot of pvpers would leave since that would be considered catering to the weak. they already were pissed at certificates and with up comming new player experience and improved pve it would be the last straw.

Far as i know how would anyone know if you bought a time card or not and i believe its sponcered by ccp. Don't see how you can get black listed.

Meathead got to remember this is a busniess and the bean counters and bottom line will dictate in the end.

this is true, I guess i just take my eve status too seriously.
I wouldn't want any of my bridges being burned down for buying or selling GTC.
This game is all about who you know similar to real life.

Elsabolts deliberately spreading misinformation again? Cute..
Anyways, no new server planned.
To get this thread back on topic:
I look down to ebayers. Not to people who finance some poor guys eve sub though gtc.
There is nothing wrong with buying a gtc and then selling it using EVE's secure method (see http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=801929 for details). I am in a PvP corp. Many members want to PvP, not farm isk to support their habit. Gtc trading for isk is not an uncommon practice and accepted by all as a valid way of making isk.
What new server? I thought eve was getting worm holes to expand space so new corps could take over different areas that the big boys didn't already hold.

"talk of a new server" means Elsabolts constantly asking why there cant be a new server because he is incapable of catching up. thats the only talk of a new server that there is.
i dont look down on people who buy GTCs and sell them, did it myself to get seed money for my industrial character who now provides my isk to lose in pvp. its a legitimate way to get some isk, if you need to keep doing it then there is something wrong with you, but once or twice seems fine.
and you still don't understand that by retaining the integrity of a business model that centers around being unique, different with slow growth, not a boom/bust model you can still grow as a company.
what you want is not commonsense at all, it a good way to ruin everything about eve that is attractive in the long term.
On topic, I have no problem at all with the legitimate GTC trading for isk.
Actually i like it as an example of harm minimization. By allowing a regulated mechanism, CCP gets the money someone pays for isk. The isk buyer does not get his credit card details spammed across the internet, have a keylogger installed by the crims that sell isk and the Isk sellers get to steal less isk from players.
It also allows the player base to have people who work for a living still play with some shineys as the grid for isk does not have to be done by everyone.
Elsabolts is obviously just trying to start an argument or something because the idea of a second server is just crazy and not worth discussing
On topic I've sold GTCs to acquire ISK. That's what helps make EVE a sandbox. PEople that dont want to be bothered farming ISK can just buy another person a subscription and ask for ISK in return.
Gold farmers, on the other hand, are bad for the game because they can possibly rip off players (charge money and never deliver).
Selling GTC is okay because its supported by the dvelopers fully and its a "secure transaction". very easy to use interface on the site from your Account management page
The only bad thing- well I'm gonna stay on topic here. I see nothing wrong with GTC trades however like I said before, I've sold GTCs along with friends to acquire implants, etc to get started out well
Xennith,
What is "wrong" with some of us is that we have limited time. As an example, I can spend my time PvPing, or missioning/ratting/market trading to support PvP. If I do one, I don't do the other. I've played MMO games for years and I am sick to death of PvE content, I prefer to PvP full time.
So, what is "wrong" with me, and with others I know, is that we want to PvP full time.
One of main attractions of this game is that everyone can play on one server. So when I met another player we can all play on same server. Because there is only one. In real life I ahve met EVE players and done activites with them. And corped with them.
MAking multiple servers would destroy all this. CCP is concerned more with long term growth rather then instant gratification.
CCP will never launch a second server unless for a reason like China or something.
one of the corner stones of Eve is the single world. Will they add more regions and expand care bear content ? Probaby.
GTC trading is not something i look down on. UO has been doing similar stuff for years....I don't look down on that game.
Some times ccp pisses me off but I have to say they have some very intelligent people working for them.
please link a source, any source that says there s talk of a 2nd server.
I don't see anything wrong with it. Equipment does not equal an I win button. Items are / can be destroyed in a loss.
epic troll !!!!!
i think you do this on purpose just to troll ppl
BestSigEver :P
bad phrasing perhaps. im a pvper as well, but i have an alt to do my cash generation. perhaps i should have said that if you are relying on GTC for all your ISK you are missing some very easy oppertunites to turn isk into more isk
With QR, GTC sales for ISK are now instutionalized in the Eve market.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Like my quote says, RMT is cheating. It's a shame CCP sold out and condoned it. Glad I left EVE before that change was applied to the EvE world.
So now that CCP has broken through the gate, we will eventually have in all our games the haves and the have nots, the players who can afford to spend real money to enrich their fantasy and those that can't --- or won't. If the servers can discriminate, Guilds will be next. It's a sad era dawning for MMORPG's.
Mention one game that don't have RMT, condoned or not.
This way the ISK seller get to pay the game for free, the ISK buyer pays his subscription. So I can't calculate what CCP earns on this as the one selling ISK don't need to paying CCP for his subscription whereas in other games... Like [game] where you first pay your subfee in addtion to that also pay the farmer money for the ingame money. Dont forget that the farmer also pays for that accounts subscription. So in this [game] there is an actual profit to be made for the developer up to a certain point, they are playing catch up with the illicit RMT traders.
CCP have made an offer that makes you able, as a said, play the game for free when you are selling ISK. Being able to buy ISK with buying two subscriptions. One for you and one for the seller.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
It is worth noting that professional isk sellers can not make money out of the system. They can only get more gametime, which can not be resold.
In all alliances i have seen there were a few weekend warriors who used gtc to be able to keep pvping in their rare spare time, and a few alliance members buying those to be able to play the game. It's actually a great way, people who have a busy work day pay for the subs of people with less money..especially students who are usually out of cash.
