Turbine has been slipping, a lot lately. They go from one of the most polished MMOs to ever launch to problems beginning book 14 and now Moria took a toll when the servers opened and no one could get in the queue.
There is one thing Turbine can't fix and that is the community. That as a whole at least on my server has pretty much came to a halt. No one talks to one another outside of guilds of course, people only group up to knock out an epic quest which normally leads into a poorly built party because people have no damn patients to build something that will work.
I was enjoying the story this morning had fun running around and feeling the world of lotr around me. Until I hit the first group instance, then it went to a halt of frustrating and to the point where I just logged off and gave up on it. Besides the fact I couldn't find anyone for hours that was doing 15.12, when I did get a group they would whip on the first set of mobs in the instance.
Now playing through this damn game for many months and seeing some extraordinary battles and skill, this instance is weak compared to most at yet couldn't go anywhere with it.
I might be venting and I know in some days time I'll jump on to try my luck again, it just shocks me that the newest content is so how should I say "Avoided". It seems that the following mobs beyond 50 that we dealt with at cap 50 are more powerful because of the level cap raise.
I don't know but there is one damn thing for sure I'm not going out in a field or ice field to grind mobs till I level that is for damn sure.
I'm sure I'm not alone, I'm to the point where I think my server is just straight up dead even for the expansion launch, I seen 12 people in Angmar today (where book 15.12 is) on Arkenstone o.O.

Why are you doing book 15 and not working on entry into Moria? You are what is wrong, not Tubine. Stop whining and use your brain. Come back to Book 15 later!
Moria is the best expansion I have ever experienced in any MMO. Turbine has outdone themselves.
"Freedom is just another name for nothing left to lose" - Janis Joplin
Somehow I don't think 2 hours of a clogged login-queue and account management page equate to over 40 hours of downtime in another very recent example. WAR had more total downtime, plus a hotfix during prime-time, releasing a single event in anticipation of a content patch... Those are terrible.
This is one of the best expasion rollout's I've ever seen. Especially considering that Turbine has never really done a full scale expansion before. Except for AC during it's declining years.
As for the community... Well, expansions always drag out-- actually, people like me. The ones that bounce from game to game. And though I don't race to the top and do everything in sight ASAP, then leave, they do. And they are usually quite insular while doing it.
Don't worry. If you wait exactly 30 days, until the next billing cycle, they'll mostly be gone.
Yea, though the launch wasnt/isnt that smooth, it could be worse. I think most people are playing by now so im not too worried about it; Turbine should get it all straightened out pretty soon.. I hope.
And as was said, wait 30 days and I think a lot of the 'idiots' will be gone as well. I admit, it does feel a little weird with it being so busy and yet so 'unfriendly-like'.. not what we are used to :P
Angmar is probably empty because everyone is rushing to Moria atm, so be patient for the Moria excitement to die down a little.
While I have not had most of these problems myself ( play on Gladden-US) I noticed very few people doing the book quests as well. I didnt mind though as there is plenty of time for books later.
The group thing yes it can be a problem although I only pugged one time and we had a gaurd who seemed like he hit 50 right after release and quit the game till today when he logged in for the first time again.
We wiped once then he suddenly dropped group so I assume that there are lots of players coming from other games that have not played LoTRo for awhile but give it a week or 2 and they will either quit again or get better.
I have not noticed anything anoying in general chat but the annoying "ding" from time to time but I expect that in a new game or Xpac.
You are either gonna have to deal with it or take a break for a week or so but no you are not the only one that feels this way but I think maybe you are being a little to critical. Also the Mobs seem about right as far as difficulty goes and my gear or skill is nothing special and I play a Minstriel.

I feel when the "new content" rush dies down I'm sure you will be able to do these books. And actually probably be able to do them easily since there will actually be some kind of reward to do these other then story. I'm hoping anyway because i don't want to start on Morias since I haven't finished Book X yet
some people are never happy, they stated that the servers wouldnt be up as soon as the 18th hit, as for the queues.. no one here had aproblem. The expansion is fantastic, Good Show Turbine
I can tell you that the EU launch was extremly smooth. Had no issues at all. The sense of community was great and everyone was very excited in the chat channels and having a blast!
But then there always is alot of whiney people who have to go to forums and tell everyone how misserable they are...
No people in Angmar? NO SHIT!
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
was people whining about not being able to see their pvp STARS, Boo Hoo
The point was/is that Turbine quality control is slipping anyone saying other wise is a god damn lair or blind...
As for why I didn't rush to Moria like a little school girl, well I want to finish the damn story of volume 1 before I dive into the next and if Turbine was smart they would have made book 15 mandatory to get into Moria then we wouldn't be having this lack of population problem we are having.
To all the posters that only responded to say something stupid like quit whining, bravo you showed me you cared enough to respond.
To all those having a great time, great. Try to do book 15 and you will be in my shoes and see it from my side. It isn't pretty.
At any point there was downtime already this afternoon, so something is going red over at Turbine, be it a security patch for the servers or other wise it isn't good to see. It is like slowly seeing a company that cares fall down to a I don't give two shits I just want your money (see the history of SOE).
At any rate it is what it is. A flaw that could have been avoided.
Turbine's QA would have to slip a hell of a lot to get them down to the level of the rest of the industry. Are they perfect, heck no, just very damn good and what they lack in QA they more than make up for in customer service and communication.
I miss DAoC
They did a great job. Got home, installed from DVD-s, downloaded patches and started playing in time frame maybe 30 minutes. No problems.
Book 15 ch 12 is harder then what we experienced before, even harder then book 14 ch 1. Went with pug group yesterday, 3 tries 3 wipes. So what, it's only positive no easy mode anymore.
Never had problems with grouping. Lots of players doing book 15, lots of players lvling RK or warden, and lots of them just skiped to Eregion. Plenty of players what ever you choose first.
And community is still one of the best, atleast on server i play.
Hashbrick, you are all that is WRONG with the MMO gamer. Staying up all night/day waiting patiently for the instant the servers come up. Angry when the gates open and the rush of rats run towards the cheese like a mindless zerg. You get stompled over a few times and delayed in getting your cheese. Only to complain about getting yellow cheese instead of white.
Well you know what, like a NORMAL person with a LIFE outside of LOTRO. I went to sleep Monday night. Woke up early Tuesday to be amazed the servers where actually live already. Attempted to log in, realized there was a long patch. Thought good Turbine has been busy. Patched, while getting ready for work. Went to work. Came home for lunch, played a couple hours. Went back to work, returned home and played about six hours. Yeah I didn't work much Tuesday, sue me.
My experience was MoM is hands down the best expansion launch ever and Turbine deserves a 10/10.
I'm sure the honeymoon will wear off a bit, and it may drop to 8/10 or so, but first impressions go a LONG way and Turbine has done an amazing job. Even the engine received a major patch, I'm getting about 20% more FPS.
So in closing Hashbrick, you suck, not Turbine.
I am no fanboy - I have critisised the game in the past, but the OP is very wrong on this.
Got to 51 last night and into Moria, and it's great!
Go to the new zones, that's where everyone else is.....
Currently Playing Nothing...
Not sure why your server is empty if at all. Landroval was busy at levels 15 and up last night, I had no problems getting parties together, as a matter of fact I had to turn down 2 invites since I was doing something else. And I don't even have Moria yet, although I REALLY want to play an RK. Loving the game, and REALLY loving the very helpful and fun community.
makes perfect sense to you that an expansion that came on a dvd had to patch itself on release day? i would think a company like the awesome [::whatever::] turbine would have made it so only the people who DIDNT install from the dvd would have a long patch time to look at.
its mr.brick's prerogative to play the game any way he chooses! whats more he is also allowed to post here. to me the fact that so many of you are posting here and NOT enjoying your mind-blowing [:::whatever again:::] expansion says volumes. like, "its such a great thing i think ill go jerk around on some forums."
they are games not effing crusades, you do not have to destroy the infidels !
personally i think its funny that the easy mode crowd cant handle said chapter (until they "nerf" it for them), but i think its sad that anyone who plays hard will be done with all the new content in under a month. turbine is not some online gaming monolth, lotro may have had a smooth roll out, but it isnt like its a super complex game either, how they made DDO the failure it is or let AC2 flounder the way it did = reprehensible. so get off your soap boxes and stop pretending you know god personally.

I don't think you understood his post at all. He was basically saying that instead of waiting at the gate he just took it leisurely.
Sure the OP has a right to wait and double check every single second until the game goes live. but I also think people need to realize that there is a difference between testing and reality and when the gates open their are going to be some glitches that just can't be mitigated the first time.
Quite frankly, though I have some quibbles with Turbine and definitely some issues with the two game of theirs that I've played, I have to say that I don't think they are slipping in the QA department.
Given the large amount of gmaes that I've tried at this point, I have to say that Turbine has been right up there with quality. So it's inevitable that there is going to be something that comes through that is unforeseen.
What I have seen is that Turbine is pretty good at fixing issues. They are not perfect, no. As a matter of fact I could't see the servers after one of their patches and after a long stint with their customer service I found a post where a person made a new profile on their computer. bingo, that worked for me.
But in the end I really think they are at the forefront of quality games. I can forgive the human error. Then agani, maybe it's becuase I'm older and realize that you don't always get things the way you want. Ever since I started playing games I've notieced a growing sense of entitlement with the people who play. I want, I want, I want, now, now, now.
There is going to come a time when game companies say "Sorry, we just can't take the risk, you players are too mercurial and too demanding and the only thing we are going to do from now on is make easy, non complicated games as we just can't satisfy you anymore.
Then you will see the crying...

Heh and yet how wrong you are, I didn't wait around waiting for servers to open, I was off that night (I work overnights so obviously I'd be up at this hour doing my usual stuff) and tried to login to one of my favorite MMOs live expansion when they opened up the servers. I can't do this now? It's a sin to go in when I can and not wait for your ass to get in first?
It's not the fact that Turbine isn't a great company I am just clearly stating they are starting to slip in quality as they do things, anyone around book 14 would know this. My god don't get me started about the ring-lore setup, if you don't know read my article here at mmorpg.com.
Yep I was an correspondent for Lotro here but politely stepped down because of time and the interest just wasn't there, no drive to go on.
You defiantly wouldn't be a critic I can tell you that much. 10/10? Do you have no shame? 10/10 deserves to be fed to perfection, this was not perfection there was problems right at the get go. It's like judging your granny's pie the best just because you love your granny. You need to step a side and see it from a point where your love for the game or company is not an issue then you can see the flaws.
At any point thanks to some of you who decided to help clear the air for the ones that didn't get it. As others stated I was playing casually I had no drive to fly through the content, I used to be a hardcore gamer when I had time and barely any responsibilities, but I'd rather put food on the table then worry about grinding to level 60 in 2-3 days.
I think it may just be my server we had experienced quite a few population drops during the course of lotro. To give you a good feeling how well I know this game. I beta tested it, played at launch till book 10 with two different account, the other account came much later (I didn't dual box that shit is long gone on my list). Dropped out and then popped back in at book 12 till book 14. Dropped out and picked up on Moria. So I've seen a lot of the game and the events that took place. Very casually out of all that time only two level 50s and a 43.
The community used to be great and fell down hill there is more of the hardcore single player mode players that fled in probably from WoW (at least I wouldn't doubt it) that are used to that being the only mode to play.
To all those not having issues I wish I was in the same boat, but thank you for your time.
Why are people complaining that they can't find a group for Book 15.12 or saying it's to hard.
For crying out loud people it's a flipping lvl 52 instance!
Go into Moria, gain some levels, and then come back to it when you have decided to grow a pair and not whine like a little &*^%$.
This was actually a wonderful launch by Turbine. Servers were unstable at MIDNIGHT on a WORK / SCHOOL night but everything was running well by the next morning. There are plenty of MMO's out there who would have given their left nut for a launch that smooth.
People who want everything perfect NOW NOW NOW NOW really piss me off.
Learn some patience.
Ya wonderful launch, except the constant stress on the servers still that lag up every 10-15mins in a freeze frame, sometimes containing death.
Or the fact that a lot of skills are broken.
Or the new stats are broken.
Or some quests are bugged.
Or block % no longer exist and seems to be worse than it was, working intended who knows but its an annoying change.
QA is slipping, slipping I tells ya.
You are just a drama queen and a perfect example that the LotrO community have its bad apples..
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
Give the OP a break. I can see what he is saying, though I'm not sure I agree. besides if no one made post like this Turbine would become complacent and really would start slipping in a way we would all see. So, the OP is helping make the game better, even though It's not what most of us wanna hear or discuss atm.
This is the best expansion to a game that I have ever purchased..however most of them were from SOE if that tells ya anything. There are some things in this expansion that are kinda weird, but for the most part its better than what I expected. How often does that happen?
See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
At least you know you won't see threads about people beating all the content in 3 days. I wonder if it can even be done in LOTRO. I love LOTRO, wish I still had the cash to re-activate my account. 35 champ on Elidimor or however you spell it just sitting there.
Digital upgrade done last week...2 minutes.
Downloaded MoM patch last week...I dunno, 1.5 hours.
Patched 15,000 files Monday night...maybe 1 hour.
Logged in first thing Tuesday morning, no queue.

Heh alright sorry for not bowing down and worshiping Turbine. There are problems in this game wither you like it or not. For christ sakes open your eyes, is it a good expansion as far as content well that is up to you, rehashed mobs didn't help my exploration anymore but I lived with it. Lore breaking mobs in Moria I'm sure of it, we'll be hearing more of that once people get into it more.
Sorry I'm the only one with enough balls around here to tell it like it is.
