Well there is the magic hope that NA release will fix all the problems, but as I said, it reminds beta situation too much and back then there were no IP blocks or anything. It just gets boring fairly quickly I suppose.
Acclaim... well Acclaim is the games that you play for free when you are bored out of your skull by your main MMOs. Sure, they will spam their other games with adverts probably, as they usually do, but I am not too sure that f2p and item mall kiddies will go along with the p2p model.
It does not look like Acclaim is giving a shit about TCoS either - I mean if they planned to at least advertise it, you would think they could be arsed to at least fix their site. The beta is one month late already, so their release may be pushed even further, probably February/March at least and by then EU servers probably will be as good as offline. And well, if Acclaim's are the only ones with some life, I may bet that it will turn into another of their f2p, item mall, crapily run games.
That, or ivestors will see sales in EU and will pull the plug.

Huh? Why would the heads of top industry worry about another B-game to the level of trolling random community forums? They may give a thought about overhyped crap, but a game that managed to get 150k people registered for their beta in 3 years... I would think it is too small fish to worry about.
I would agree though, see for yourself, BUT do not buy their expensive box with 3 month play time, since after a month you may feel alone in empty servers.

I can't believe I just read that coming from someone who can form complete sentences and use punctuation.
Isn't Acclaim the US releaser? If so, this games going to suck before it leaves the doorway, only 1 good game made by Acclaim: Turok Evolution, and it's not an MMO
This restriction makes me not even able to play this game since i study in England and live in Belgium, so I'd have to choose where im gunna play the game no ta then.
From my expercience, almost all of European gamers have one thing in common, the dislike for Americans. This is the smartest thing in the world for games of mmo's to do, cause I;ve and real mmorpg gamers seen it time and time again in a chat window , pure hatred come from EU players of the NA. Even in Shadowbane where it is a mixture of all cultures , the game community is highly prejuidice towards certains nations. Blocking IP's and Letting Akklaim do what they need to do for NA players is the best way to keep peace, if that means making .0005% of all mmorpgs populations who are multinational friendships move to a different game, it is for the best. Not evenryone,, including myself would want to play with EU players, specially after my experiences in Lineage 2.

Play the Game for yourself and make your own opinion !
My experience is the exact reverse, pure hatred from US or a sheer lack of understanding of anything surrounding the EU situations and still making generalizations like they don't even know the EU is more than one country.
Yes because there is not such thing as European Servers in TCOS.
Germany, France, Netherland and Belgium are hardly Europe, they are just a small part of Europe.
UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia, Portugal, Greece, Austria, Poland and all the other East European countries, have been excluded from the so called "European launch"
For me the big mistake has been to exclude the UK from the European launch.
It is not that the UK is better than others, but when there are lots of English speaking servers, usually people tend to play on those, rather than the localised ones.
TCOS is a small game and cannot afford to have localisation, they should have launched the game just with English speaking servers and for ALL fucking Europe.
Only if the game was really successful they should have added localised servers.
Way to go Frogster.
I think Germany and France is quite a large chunk of Europe. Both economically and population wise. And about the countries as which Spellborn is released in, in Sweden it is supposedly released...
Tha sad thing is that only the publisher and developer knows about it -.-
I don't even find any information about spellborn on the Mindscape homepage.
has anyone even played this game at what would be germanys and frances primetime? they are far from dead....not exploding at the seams but far from dead.

That may look like that in newb area, where still are some trial people, but after you leave the first shard (around lvl 10-12 ish) you will be lucky to stumble upon a living soul.
It is true about marketing though, it does not exist. They have PR Manager MIrage, who posts occationally on their forums, but I haven't seen any PR since ages on any of the gaming sites.
sorry to say that now that I have mage it past the first 2 zones I rarely if ever run into anyone else......thats too bad the game really is a break from the typical mmo mold thats came out lately.
The current 6 Frogster/Mindscape servers are empty! Nothing more nothing less.
It's just sad to see that a large community, wich took years to build up, is blown to pieces due to one of the worst publisher deals in history!
Nothing is left from the TCOS community. The current forums are pretty much dead (wich reflects ingame) and Acclaim is already screwing up so bad, that pretty much every last bit of interest in NA and UK is killed off as well.
Guys its time for a reality check. The game is released to 2.5% of the world population and six servers is overkill for a game that had no marketting and most people haven't even heard of yet.
I feel bad for you folks in that 2.5% that will be isolated, but as for the rest of us, give it time for a proper release and don't expect bustling servers when you're probably in the wrong time zones and playing from the wrong territories. There are a whole crapload of us that are waiting for the NA release to play this game.
Akklaim hasn't done anything wrong either. They are waiting for a version of the game that is compiled for the NA release. The devs have already said that its taking longer to make this version than they anticipated. Give them some slack. Its Christmas time and people like to spend their time with family and friends, not compilers.
If you're eager to tag and bag this game then at least wait a couple months and see how things go.
First of all ,it wil lnot be the seperation of acclaim and Frogster that kills the game ,it will be the game itself.Far too many people know or at least have heard about proxies,so you can play where ever you want, that won't be the restriction.
What i saw in 2/3 days is a VERY VERY dead server.I mean come on,a FREE trial and there was no rush of people to try it out? There was not that many servers either,so if nobody wants to play it for free, where on earth is the sudden influx of paying customers going to come from?
I mean AOC had a ton playing and it was "apparently" full of bugs lol,i think this game is not too bad on the surface,i did not see any bugs,i just did not like a few mechanics, but hey that is me,why is everyone else staying away?
All i can think of is there must be or they hope there is a TON of NA that didn't use proxies and are waiting to play, even so,those were EURO servers, they won't be getting any help.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The IP block can and is stopping a huge number of people from playing. Even with a dozen posts on this forum explaining the process, there are still plenty of people that can't figure it out. I can guarantee that there are plenty more that don't want to be bothered with the process. And again more that tried it, but are now waiting for the release in their own territory.
But I agree that it will be the game itself that will create its own success or failure. Even from the start its a niche title that will never have the mass appeal of a AoC or WAR let alone a WoW. Then there is the issue of retaining players in a game that has only one set of content. Add in the effect of other competing MMOG releases and it will be a leaking ship from the start.
Working in its favor is the free trial and the fact that there is no up front box fee, only the subscription. Its different enough to stand on its own without feeling like a clone of any existing game. We also have no idea of the business side of the game. It may be cheap to operate meaning that it will thrive even with a small number of subscriptions.
We simply can't compare the release of TCoS to the release of AoC and WAR. Both of those games had huge marketting efforts, huge launches, and then dropped subs like mad after the first month. Its much more appropriate to compare this game to a game like Eve that had almost no marketting from the start and a low number of subs for years after release. Eve is now one of the most successful MMOG's on the market.
Well EvE for one never had their subscribtions that low - at the best TCoS now has maybe 2000 subs in total and half of them probably bought a box with 3 month sub. Considering that TCoS development already a year back costed something alike 10 million (there was some news about it ages ago), by now it is prolly 20 millions or more. Does not look like 2k subs can keep them afloat for long.
As for Acclaim, they prolly will wait and see if things really go bad in Europe. Then they prolly will try to push for f2p spamable item mall MMO, just like their other titles, so they do not have to go away from their usual business model.
Devs of course said few times that it won't be item mall game, but they said also that there won't be IP blocks and see where we ended up. If things do not go well they might not even be in position to argue about the changes, after all someone has to pay back the loans.
Well I been playing and .. this game is not worth it. Even if it was free.. its just awful. You can play for hours and maybe see one or 2 people. But its not that its like playing a very old MMO.
It looks ok but if you have every played EQ2/wow,swg,aoc,VG you wont like this. It should be free to play its that bad.

lol,you are much more harsh than i.I like to be fair and the game is not that bad,but it is not that great either.I would say it is close to a F2P game, however not sure how they could implement an item mall, because it does not look like they designed it to be one.
You are right though, the game had nobody playing on their servers, even the cheapest F2P games, have quite a large number diving in for the free action.
In retrospect, take a game like SILKROAD,it is nothing great,a F2P game, and does come along with a bit of a hassle to get into the game. That game has a ton of servers, and i would bet that at any given time, you wil lsee more players playing than at ANY time on a TCOS server. If they added a new server right now,it would probably have more players in the first 5 mintues than TCOS in a week,so i hate to say it,the game looks to have no following.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Man! You do not know what you are talking about!
Germany is THE biggest gaming country of Europe. UK comes second place behind that. Scandinavia a close Third!
Scandinavia plus Germany makes up half the gaming population in Europe easy!
France isn't doing so bad either, seeing how popular their localised servers are in other MMO's like WAR, LOTRO and WoW.
Yet both German and French servers are just as empty as the International servers I am playing on. The international servers on wich whole Scandinavia is suppose to be playing on.
If you had actually spend some time on the old Spellborn forums, then you would have known how many german and scandinavian fans were active on those forums.
Add to the fact that everyone can try the game out for FREE! Then the starter zones should be crowded.
Reality is that the Spellborn community was unified and very international! People had spend years together on the Spellborn forums, building up this unified international community, anticipating the game together!
And now this worst pulbisher deal in history with the most stupid IP blocks ever... have litterly torn the whole community apart!
There was a massive uproar in the old Spellborn forums for a reason you know! The mods there had their hands full in locking and deleting rant topics from upset and angry people!
Maybe the NA servers will fill up a bit later on when Acclaim launches. Who knows. You NA people are used to be playing on yourself.
But here in Europe the game is pretty much dead in the water and killed off due to this IP blocking mess!!
I dunno, TCOS looked like it had such a good direction, but that can be said for FURY a game with pretty much the same idea. We all know how well Fury did.. I predict the same fate for TCOS.

Hmm after reading all the posts I understand why I only saw 3-4 people while playing the game on an international server
At least they have free accounts so I don't have to make the same mistake I did with AoC
