Is it just me or does anyone else think this Heavy metal event is a complete waste of time. Lets face it its pretty much only one scenario and despite many many hours queing ive managed to get in once and that is on a medium pop server at peak play time which i had to wait 3 hours to get it. This comepletely makes a mockery of mythic saying each task would take less than an hour to complete - they just forgot to tell us that it would take considerably longer to actually get in.
In my opinion the whole concept is comepletely flawed in that alot of the tasks require you to comeple a number of taks in said scenario however anyone who has taken part in any scanerio will know how hard it is to sort a pug into any semblance of order. Throw into this mix you have people all trying to get different taks done as soon as you get in they all fek off all over so it defeats the purpose of trying to get them to complete the goals to win the scenario in the first place.
Piss poor attempt in my mind
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.

Mythic continues to amaze me in how horribly they do not understand their players. As soon as I read how the event works I thought to myself "Oh, this is never going to work."
Mythic needs to get their heads out of their asses and fix the damn game.
*sigh* Such potential WAR has... too bad the developers are blind.

Really enjoyed it. Only took a few minutes of queuing for Reikland Factory to get in it. It's a great scenario as well, so when I've not been doing oRvR I've been queueing exclusively for RF.
Actually this is exactly what I like about this event the most - tasks within a scenario. For starters everybody is trying to win and AT THE SAME TIME complete those goals - I find it very fun and challenging.
Lets face it, those scenarios do become monotonous with time... after a certain get-to-know period the winning strategies become known and everything becomes quite stale, almost ritualistic. A very very good solution is to add temporal minor tasks to them. This makes for some great variety and ultimately fun.
I particularly like the "kill 10 chickens in the Reikland's" - maybe they could make this one of the tasks that rotate in and out of the scenario? One day its "kill 10 chickens" and the other "visit all objectives". If you manage to complete the quest your team gets 10 VPS... This would make those scenarios shine!
And a week from now.. t1 will be BG vs KBS.
Well that is still better then WoW where it's now DK vs DK.
Cheers
I agree that Mythic does not understand their player base very well. But obviously Mythic was expecting A LOT bigger player base when war was launched, so it is kind of a mix bag how they go about their actions.

Dude, you have NO idea what you are talking about. I mean seriously, you are SO far off that you just made a fool of yourself to all the people that actually play WoW.
Enjoy hurting your own reputation, if you had any to begin with.
I agree with that. I actually enjoy WAR more than any other current MMO on the market but the lack of people make it boring.

I really liked the live event. It took me about 3 hours to do and im not some hard core gamer, i found it very simple. The cloak you get is sweet.
The only good time was in Heavy Metal when " Kill 15 enemies in opene RVR " was launched
On that day my server was packed with lots of players engaed in RVR
The RVR was so great that we played for over 3 hours .I completed the req quest in 20 minutes or so .
But there were so many people in tier 2 that we were pushing them back to there camp and they were pushing us back.
This is how the game should have been .If somehow they can bring the love for RVR amongst the users the game will survive
Tell me one thing. What potentional does WAR have or did have? There was no potential for the game since the first overhyped announcement of their linear pvp.

Can you give an example of non linear pvp? Nothing comes to mind to me.
Enjoy : )

Linear pvp in War means 2 fixed sizes (versus the lore), fixed factions, fixed world etc. Nonlinear means sandbox pvp.
It is a good event, imo. Fully completing it to get the unlock for the preview of the new classes takes a little bit of work. However, getting the trophy and cloak for alts is pretty easy. The cloak is definitely worth while and you can select which ever one of the four you want. So, you can either pick one you can use now, or pick one that's more powerful to use after you leveled up more.
On my main server, Reikland Factory has been popping pretty quickly. If you need to knock that scenario out quickly, only join that scenario instead of joining all.
On my secondary server, (where I play Destruction to get a handle on those classes) Reikland wasn't popping in my Tier, so I just asked in the tier wide channel for people to please queue up. Two minutes later, it popped and I got a number of runs in over the next hour.
If you are just going for the cloak, it might be possible to get it with out doing the Reikland Factory elements at all, I'm not positive though.
Reikland Factory is a nice scenario. It plays fairly quick, it takes some strategy to win and with five cap points you don't get turrtling stalemates. I also like the tunnels and walk ways, which offer avenues for sneak attacks or swift escapes.
I think it was a bad move to change the scouting quest to non-repeatable. Even if you ran it a few times in one scenario, the XP still just added up to what you would get for the regular "play X scenario" and "Kill Y players in X Scenario" quests that most scenarios offer.

I enjoyed Heavy Metal. My main completed it. However, they made it much easier when they changed the format from a daily quest to all quests open at once. There are gonna be a lot of players playing the new classes early.
i like the fact that i dont have to pay 40 bucks for an expansion that gives me one class. i.e. wow. this was monthly sub fee so thumbs up to that. and what i hear there is going to be adding another 2 more classes before 09.
I have been having such a blast with the Heavy Metal event. Reikland Factory is so much fun to play in, those tasks are great to complete, and I've never had a queue time over 10 minutes over on REM.

"Capitalism is currently working as intended."
i finished the entire event in one day no big deal for me. if you queue for reikland factory only its pops quite often.
I thought the whole quest was a joke because it was too damn easy ... I started a whole week late and finished it in about 6 hours of playing.
maybe you guys are just a bunch god damn brats that don't want to put any god damn effort into thier game.
come on
20 undead
3 stages of a scenerio (not it doesnt have the be the same senerio and it can all be stage 1)
throw pies
you know how friggen easy that is?!? grow up get some balls and put some effort into the game and you will get your reward quick.
Heavy Metal (ToK) was actually pretty fun, especially where you had to kill peeps in Open World (there was alot of Open World PvP going on that day).
On another note (Volkmar Server)...
T4 has seriosuly picked up (due to recent server merges and people finally making it to max level).
Not everyone thinks HM was a waste.. But that goes to show you, everyones got different taste in gaming.
I am still looking for to see the KotBS on December 2nd.
on the WoW scene..
I am a couple of weeks behind the DK power levelers, but everywhere I go, I do see alot of DK's in TBC still and the BG's are packed with them. People screaming that DK's are over powered (I never saw so much whining before in my life in every BG about this class).
Its more like.. Have a coke and a smile, get your ass to level 80 and quit your bitchen. Its a game, get over it!
i like it i think it is well done. they give you some nice rewards and the new scenario is pretty fun to play. plus the orvr is booming right now which is nice. i love all the doom and gloom on these forums if the game isnt Jesus day one everyone declares its finished. funny to read but it can deter ppl from the game.
There were a few months in beta that Scenarios were not working correctly so they disabled them to fix them. During that time it was a blast RvRing. I haven't had that much fun fighting other players since UO.

Well, theres more to WoW's new expansion than just 1 class. Theres an entire new continent, with 6-7 zones, quests, dungeons, new mounts, new armor and weapons and so on. Sure, free expansion material is great, which I definitely applaud Mythic for, but please don't include the 2 classes as a free expansion seeing as they were suppose to have made launch but were taking out a month before.
I still love Mythic because of DAoC, but WAR is beyond ridiculous when it comes to gameplay. Seriously, the RvR that was supposed to WAAAGH! with meaning is just plain dull. WAR is nothing like DAoC, which is probably why it doesn't appeal to me at all.
I still love you though Mythic, just need to kill your red-headed step child called WAR and go make DAoC 2.
2 1/2 months before release was when they announced the classes were cut
Not all of use want to make a game our life...some of us actually enjoy doing other things...
Thats why you need to be in a big guild that uses Vent so you can coordinate.... If your in a small guild or no guild at all then your going to be frustrated playing this in a PUG...
That said, i still don't like how the game is centered around PQ's and Scenerios... Makes for boring gameplay IMO...
