I've resubbed and I'll keep playing until it's no longer fun.
Personally, I see all the complaints about WAR and they sail right over my head. I'm enjoying the game, and the 1.1 patch promises to improve things even further. The Open RvR influence will hopefully get more folks out of the scenario grind and out into the world. I love doing Keep sieges and joining warbands for open combat and taking over obectives, and once the oRvR influence goes in, hopefully more will follow suit.
I've resubbed as I'm still enjoying it. The game has some big issues mind.
Oh sorry, if forgot, Darkfall isn't regurgitated pig slop like every other MMO is. Everyone is afraid of new, fresh ideas. Sticking to tired ideas of whats "good" is just easier.

Trust me - I think most everyone would love to see Darkfall succeed. Its the game many of us would love to play. Shadowbane had promise and had the right ideas but fell short. Darkfall promises that and much more..
But - being realistic - this game has been in development way too long. They're really keeping stuff to themselves and not really releasing much compared to most other mmos in their development. Its also a smaller staff and doesn't have the same resources as some of the bigger names. Does that mean it will fail? No - of course not - but if I were a betting man... then I'd put my house on it.
Don't get me wrong though - I hope so badly the game is a success. It would be a dream come true.
I love the game, I love the IP, but currently there are way too many issues (mainly balance) that are just NOT getting fixed. 1.0.6 made some advancements, but, simply put, the game wasn't ready for release. I'm definitely going to keep following it, and hopefully resub in the near future.
And to those of you who 'know' me, this'll probably come as a bit of a surprise, as I am/was one of the games resident fangurls...
no i will not. it has allready been canceled, and have lost all faith in mythic. mainly because of one thing; server population - they just made to many servers, and they all became low. and rvr on low servers = sux (europe)
and since they didnt merge some servers they basically killed the game.
Mythic botched this game terribly. The Warhammer name is fabulous, and brings more than enough to the table for the game. However, the implementation and post-release development/PR both fail on epic levels. It's astounding how pathetic Mythic really is when it comes to dealing with things post-release, as though it was still prerelease. Just a few points, in no particular order:
Playing favorites with forums. Did a dev post something? Oh wait, they don't post here, they only post there...why have official fansites if you're only going to be involved with one of them? Just have the one so people know where to go for dev interaction.
Balance. Wow, this is really sad. Places where minor nerfs are needed, they do "minor" adjustments that the players can clearly see are HUGE nerfs, or they don't do anything at all. They buff where it's not needed, and call useless buffs+overdone nerfs balance. No, it's just a shame how bad at this they are.
Empty servers. This is for several reasons. They opened up too many servers at release, which was bad. They did do something to even out the populations pretty quickly, which shocked and impressed me...but. They still have too many servers, and the other contributing factor is:
Instanced pvp. Very good xp from the quests, as well as cash, so from a "I want to be efficient" standpoint, doing anything else is detracting from your leveling/gearing. If you're not getting the pvp, your renown level will lag behind terribly, effectively leaving you farther behind those who did the instance grind. If they fix this now (as in, remove the quests and/orinstances) you're up a creek due to the gap of haves and have nots, those who benefitted from it and everybody else who is going to take a year to catch up with renown. Plus the fact that it's a pain to find a group, even with the nice open group system, since everyone is semi-afk waiting for the next queue to pop in a warcamp.
Crafting blows. Despite some pre-release hype about their crafting system, it's boring and the balance of it isn't quite right, leaving some gaps of making things over and over hoping for the few skill points to get you to the next thing.
Everybody looks the same. While I'm not really big on making my character look beautiful, I don't really want to look like every other person who plays the same class. Look, here come the Ironbreakers...get that one with the..wait, they're all clones! AHhhhhhhhhhh
The list could go on all day. Bottom line is, the game isn't fun. There's little, if any, sense of progress. Coupled with the lack of interaction with other players, outside of instance #23529802582 rinse-repeat-boredom, it's a wash. I regret the money I wasted on this game, I really expected better from Mythic, considering they were working with the Warhammer name.
No, I won't resubscribe, ever. No xpacs, no fixes, no free weekends, none of it. The game would require a complete rework, and it's just not something I'm interested in wasting my time with...especially with Spellborn in contention, which is a far better game.
The game isn't perfect (few games are), but I have a great time playing it. I took about a week into it to watch server load and balance numbers before picking one, though, so got on a good, well populated server (Ostermark).
I never played DAOC, so this is my first experience with RvR. With WAR, I seem to be able to get into oRvR really easily at T2, T3, and T4 every day (though mornings might be a little slow, I can find it pretty easily afterward).
It's also not even close to the worst launches I've experienced, so I'm subbing again, and probably will for a while.
I just cancelled last night and uninstalled today.
The game has some problems, but they are mostly pretty minor problems. I don't understand what everyone is saying about this game having all sorts of gamebreaking issues and inbalance issues (honestly, I played a Chosen which was the "gimp" class and I did great with it... so I think most people just need to learn to play). It really doesnt... it is a solid MMO with some innovative features and a great IP.
But there is no T4 PvP. When you hit 40, you grab uncontested objectives and keeps to farm RP. That's it. That's end game. Locking down zones is incredibly difficult. On Skull Throne, Order took our fortress once and we took theirs once since launch... no one has even gotten close to a city. Plus the community sucks. The lack of official forums is bogus.
Basically, I don't know what it is but the game just doesn't do it for me. Playing it just feels meaningless and very "carrot on a stick." I'm done with MMOs until SWTOR or the Warhammer 40k MMO comes out.

Hell no! and after 6 years of DAoC and this mess of a game, im done with Mythic, period.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.

Wow more people are voting not to come back. This game really is hurting badly. So glad I left.

wouldint even play it if it was f2p simply cause its the most boring game ive ever played
I put undecided for a lot of reasons. The biggest one right now is that it feels very track based.
I write things for the Examiner as the MMO Examiner.
Not going with the cool kids on this one.
