Seriously, I hope this game does not cater to the Jedi crowd.

    OP:

I also hope they dont make jedi something everybody rolls. I hardly think they will solve it though. Jedis just appeal to most people. I don't like the idea about being able to play a jedi but I guess it has to be in the game (not just only by lore).

Sure, sure I know it is set thousands of years before Anakin is born and such but what roles and possibilities can be produced by giving bonuses to a world/universe filled with Jedi players and 20 gabillion Jedi counsels being set up in a game?
I'm starting to worry not because of the game's dynamic but because of the nature of people's playing (History always repeats itself).

The official record in the SW inside mag recenty said, that the Order 66 terminated about 10000 Jedi altogether. So you can expect that it is realistic that there are MANY Jedi.

I really dont know why its your concern. Let everyone play what he likes to play, and end of the story. The game should neither cater not penalize ppl for playing a certain class. At least on Starsider, most of the time there were plenty other classes played besides Jedi, btw.

Restricting Jedi/Sith is an elitist view, and no MMO based on Star Wars can really afford this. That you even THINK they might limit the existence of Jedi/Sith is hilarious.

After looking at the site, watching the first doc, and doing some independant research I've come to the conculsion that everyone will be a Force class, meaning in some respect everyone will either be jedi or sith. This doesn't mean every will walk around with light sabers tho.

They could also limit the jedi to the tank and mage role leaving range dps and melee dps to other classes like bounty hunter. Still think its going to be Force driven tho.

With the exception of Luke (who was a teenager I might add), *all* Jedi depicted in the films started as children. All of them. Heck, even Anakin, "The Chosen One" was almost turned down at the age of nine... for being too old.

In an era supposedly flourishing with Jedi and Sith, how does it even remotely make sense NOT to make them a starting vocation? I don't get it. What's with all the Jedi hate? It's almost like you guys got all your Star Wars "canon" from either SWG or Naruto.

That is not the reason, the reason is that it only existed 4 immortal wizards, making more is against the lore.
A game with no Jedis or only Jedis, it doesn't really matter for you are heroes or Villains, not some schmuck janitor.
It is cool to make a game where people play regular joes too, like playing the creatures in Dungeon keeper or a regular soldier in the Crusades but most games go for the heroic things.

Ohh..Turbine broke the lore alright, somewhat hidden but ...

There is both Loremasters and Runekeepers and if they do not count as wizards, well it's just a matter manipulating the words isn't it..

If another company has made these 2 classes and called them Wizards no one would say...Nah these guys ain't wizards..

But then again ..It's a game..:) And games are about fun etc etc..

    Back to the Jedi Issue...

Well..This game will be filled with kewl Jedi wannabes with ugly non RP names , there is no way in hell we will be able to stop that..

The only way is if Bioware stepped in and did something about it, but now it's already to late..Isn't It ?

Serioulsy I hope this game does not cater to the so called swg vets, that destroyed swg.  newsflash dont come to this new star wars game and also detroy thta as well.  We have had to listen to yuor whinign for years.  We dont give a crap anymore about your jedi hate or whatever hate you have.  As long as Bioware make a good game, I dont give a flying fuuck what u elitist swg players want or think.

So you think it's elitist to NOT want a Jedi as a starting profession..?

It's not..It's you that are elitist in this case, you that wan't all the power handed to you on a silver plate !!!

To be and become a Jedi should always remark something great and that can only be achived later in the gameplay IMO, If you start out as a Jedi you will loose all these feelings of becomming or beeing a Jedi...

Well..This is atleast how I feel about it..

I think it's ignorant and irrational, unless you're proposing we step out of the tutorial as toddlers, and spend the better part of the game as a tween.

This game isn't set in the time era of the movies. Its set 3000yrs before the rise of vadar, where jedi and sith alike were born on a regular basis, but only the highly trained were part of either order. This means that its most likely that every class will be forced based and from the vids and interviews that are avaible I think this is a safe assumption.

SWOR isn't SWG: This isn't a sandbox game, although it has thoes elements the game will still be very linear in comparison. And TBH I thnk this game is made with the movie and the KOTOR in mind.

What's up with imagination and longing for something, to become something important later in the process...

I guess there is just 2 sides to this, and none of the sides is any more right than the other..

IMO beiing a Jedi the first thing you do is taking away the magic Star Wars is all about, but that's me. You are clearly of another opinion..

I just hope Bioware finds a good balance between these 2 thoughts, so the game won't be filled with just Jedi..That's my only gripe..

Ofcourse, they also have the sales figures to take into this, a game were you coudnt be Jedi instantly would not sell aswell as one without..

There are two sides to this. One that wants the game to be faithful to the IP, and one that doesn't. Guess which side you're on?

Why is it so hard for you to accept the premise that this game is set in an era where Jedi/Sith are commonplace, and not rare?

And why do you believe that?

Uh, this isn't galaxies. In the old republic setting it'd be perfectly legit, and pretty appropriate to the gameplay & IP for every characer to start as a jedi.
