When I asked why my account was banned I got this response. I am not happy about being accused of 'fraud'. This is a pretty horrible experience so far. I was planning on going back and giving AoC another try, but after all of this...I don't think I want to deal with them anymore.
"The account in question was permanently closed because it was created
with a preorder key that we received a chargeback on through Asknet.
This means that the purchase transaction for the preorder that created
the account was reported as fraudulent and the transaction forcibly
reversed.
Kind Regards,
GM Genieva"
I didn't issue a chargeback asknet canceled my order because I was unable to play due to a delayed shipment. So I went and bought the game at best buy and entered that cd key to play the game, but since my order had been canceled the preorder key was stuck on the account and I couldn't have removed it had I wanted to. Here are the emails from asknet to prove that. I don't see how this situation could be confused as being 'fradulent'.

I have been waiting for the arrival of my game for awhile now. Is there a problem with the order? I haven't been contacted and I am just curious. My prelaunch time is up and I haven't recieved my game so I am unable to play. If there was a problem with the order please let me know so I can purchase the game elsewhere. If it has been shipped that would also be great to know. I would like to play but I do not want to have two copies of the game.

Dear Ryan,
Thank you for contacting Asknet Customer Service Center.
Nothing is wrong with the order, Funcom actually was late getting us the game to ship out. I dont have a solid delivery date at this time so we are offering to cancel orders for people so they can purchase elsewhere and get online quicker. Let me know what you would like to do.
Kind regards,
Customer Service, asknet AG

None of this suprises us players who "were" funcom customers. When you deal with a deceptive company like Funcom this stuff happens. STAY AWAY FROM ANY GAME THAT FUNCOM WRITTEN ON IT. You will get burned sooner or later.
Have you contacted them and explained what you said here. Mistakes do happen and they may look deeper into it. They do make mistakes like releasing 12 months early....
Ouch, sorry to hear that Ranghar. If you're already working with the team at account@ageofconan.com; you may also wish to drop Famine a PM on these boards here to get another pair of eyes to look into your situation.
Hope everything works out for you.
Yeah, I did. I guess I will just wait some more time to see what comes of it. I also took the advice of sending a PM to Famine. After seeing the way the response was written with the straight up 'fradulent act!' without asking me any questions about the situation I am afraid they might not listen or even care. I guess I will know sometime this week if they want to respond to me and resolve this.

You shoudl thank them they proberly saved you a few weeks of your life before you realised its still same crap and left anyway.
Funcom did you a favor. Take this as an omen and dont play this game, it will only leave you disappointed in the end. It did me. Thats my personal opinion.
Some people are like slinkies, they dont really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
you'd think a game as starved for a player base as this one is would take more care and not make mistakes like this one but I am not surprised by it either way.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
I just love how all the negative posters flock to this thread, but when a positive review is written it's barren of all the haters.
Shit happens.
If they screwed up, well ok, their bad.

Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
Yes, they screwed up. Are you saying we shouldn't be upset? People don't usually get props for doing what they are supposed to do. I know I don't at work. This is a mistake that should not have happened, and we should be talking about it. Do you want us to cheer when Funcom refrains from mistakenly banning a player? That makes no sense.
But seriously, this is probably good for you; it is, as others have noted, an omen. This is how Funcom operates. You can try and deal with it and deal with them or you can spend your money elswhere with companies that actually care about keeping their customers happy. Of course they still won't care about you specifically, but they will treat you like they want to keep their business. If a company does crap like this, it is a sign they don't want you money and don't care enough to treat you like you matter. They don't want your business. Don't give it to them.

Omen? Mmmm...yah your still not scaring me. If a game is good and I genuinely enjoy it, I can look past some mistakes.

To each their own. Don't come whining on the forums when they burn you, please.

Some computer spit your name out and now it's your word against the computer. I hope you get it sorted out.
AOC blows take this as a sign not to waste any more money on Funcom's empty promises and incompetence.
You're hating on AoC because someone got banned by mistake and will most likely be solved if he's telling the truth?
Oh noes no other mmorpg has done that before to lots of customers.......
No, I'm hating on AOC because they lied about all sorts of features (not just dx10) to generate lots of sales and then delivered a steaming pile of shit that still doesn't work properly. For instance endgame sieges are still bugged to hell with no fixes on the horizon. Or how about wiping everyone's pvp xp after several weeks yeah thats real professional. I'm just trying to save someone else from wasting their hard earned cash and time on a pos like aoc.
What mmorpg ever releases with everything promised?
Eve Online didn't
EQ2 didn't
SWG didn't
WoW didn't
Lotro didn't
etc etc.
They slowly add to the game and improve it over time... well apart from with SWG where they added alot of crap and made everything worse. They've said they know about all the problems and they're sorry not everything was in the game at launch but they're going to slowly add it all in. I mean yeah the game isn't for everyone but basically saying it's one of the worst mmorpgs for that reason is dumb when every mmorpg I've ever known has had the same launch.
They didn't accuse you of fraud, they mearly stated that their system detected it as a fraud case and so closed it automatically as a precaution. When you are dealing with a company who operates in a sepreate country, shit happens. Is this an Omen? Only if you can't have fun with a game that isn't completely 100% persistent

Not a Funcom Problem an Asknet problem thanks for the incorrect spin.. and welcome back..
Nobody expected AoC to be 110% perfect but the problem is it was so damn far from that. At launch AoC was 1% perfect, 99% crap. Now I would say it's about 20/80.
"Funcom should take a lot of the blame"
A lot of the blame? Um.. FC should take ALL the blame. Or do you partly want to play the players?

You got your good bad reversed honey. 80% perfect. 20% bad. The bad is all contained in the incomplete crafting (so what crafting is boring ) and the missing wing 3 content for Black Ring Citadel.
Other than that its smooth sailing.

i agree, i when i was subbed the seige i went against PR in deathwhisper went flawlessly we ended up taking down their keep was quite fun. given the indescretions funcom has done, I must admit they have lit a fire under their asses to bring some stuff into this game that is sorely needed.
the game was "unfinished" from what it should of been but there are levels of "finish" or "polish" i think despite the foul ups Craig and his team are making a concerted effort to "make right" and reetablish this game to what it should of been or at least close. will i go back? maybe, if i see more content for lvl 70+ thru 80 and direct X 10 is finally in with a patch or 2 to smooth things over, i may very well give it a go.
but i think they still have more to prove. lets see where it goes. lets just not try to throw unsubstantiated facts that no longer apply. I been gone over a month+ and I refuse to judge something though there are issues that still catch my nerve, but I think its always best to research first, then debate second.

Welcome to MMOs. Hope the next game that is hyped to hell lets people down just as much AoC did.
AoC faliure is about 80% FC (Bugs, Content gap. hype machine, ect) 10% design (higher graphics requires zoning, pvp centrics require gear to be "pointless", ect ) and 10% players (people expecting AoC to be nearly bug free out the gate and expecting the game to be compeltly different than what its designed to be). Yea, FC's imcompotence caused the majority of the issues; however, once the majority of the bugs were worked out (Mid July for some Aug for the rest) the continued failure was mainly caused by impactience and lack of meaningful PvP (no shiny titles to go after oh noes).
Edit: Just caught the below quote
Let me explain why FC did this and why it was a good thing. 1st the people that got their exp rolled back exploited to get that exp. They either trade killed their way to it (perfect 1:1 Kill to Death ratio) or they used a broken system that allowed them get 200 PvP exp every PvP kill they did. When this was discovered and the community complained about it FC was put into a tough spot. On the one hand it was an exploit, which should of been noticed by everyone; however, on the other hand some "GMs" or FoA members said that it wasn't an exploit because they either didn't understand the issue or were just new to their jobs. Thus, FC developed a program to go through the logs to flag everyone who may have exploit, temporarily banned the player (for like an hr or two) while they manually investigated the issue, and then reset the person PvP exp to 0 if they did exploit it. Now, most games would have just perma banned these players, but because of the GM mishap, the fact that the system was broken by FC themselves, and the fact that subs are low, they took the middle road and only reset PvP levels of those that did exploit. A fair compromise in my opinion.
So, the poster I quoted was someone affected by this. Everyone knew it was an exploit as soon as it was placed on the forums by a player that discovered it. Not only that, but the PvP exp is normally affected by diminishing returns, so the fact that the exp given by a person never dropped should of been a flag.

Classic FunCom Customer Service, be happy you were banned for nothing, I know folks who were banned for helping FunCom (exploit reporting, and bug recreation). You got kicked out the door, those folks were kicked in the nuts and pushed down the stairs.
