No info yet. All we know is that it's going to be wildly different from WoW. Probably sandbox.
That would be incredible, especially if it were fantasy and had harsh death penatlies.
no . just no. That is for a bygone era when players are ones with no life. The WOW model is teh way to go. Knowing Blizzard, they are not going to be stupid enough to kill their own market with a harsh death penalty.
Well, the "harshness" of a death penalty is something to be taken in degrees. However, without a "harsh enough" death penalty, no dungeon is scary, no loot is really valued, and the gaming experience feels like it's on sedatives.
We need a game with some "sting" for failure, so the player world can feel "alive" again.
I think its funny, and interesting that so many people find World of Warcraft to have no "lore" or storyline. Pretty much tells how these gamers play their games by running to the !, clearing out the zone that the questhelper addon tells them to and returning to the ?.
I know a lot of ill-informed people will flame me for this, but thats just that. Theyre not very well informed about the IP warcraft and what a great job blizzard has done bringing this IP to an MMO world. World of Warcraft by far has some of the most interesting lore and backstory of any MMO on the market. The only thing that comes close is the first Everquest and Ultima Online. However, with EQ2 it pretty much bastardized everything that was EQ1, and the changes of Ultima Online so very long ago destroyed its lore as well.
At least Blizzard thus far has stuck to the lore and storylines of their predecessing books and single player games and for the most part, did a good job translating it to an MMO. Sure, not many people here like what Blizzard stands for, but it isnt "cool" to like what is commonly liked.. its much cooler to hate what everyone likes.

Well, If there's one thing we can be sure of regarding the new Blizzard MMO, is that they (Blizzard) will be taking a good hard look at the various innovations in combat and quest systems etc that other games in the genre have presented over the past few years, and so in the new Blizzard MMO we'll be seeing variations of the public quest system and RvR from WAR, the real-time combat from games like Age of Conan and Chronicles of Spellborn, the Legendary Item system from LotrO, whatever innovations games like Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic brings to the table etc etc
This new Blizzard MMO will of course be extremly polished yet be capable of running on any decently modern rig (what we play on today and consider high-end will probably be "low-end" by then, and will be the minumum reqs) and following a massive marketing campaign rivaling the budget of a small country where the game will be hyped by millions of fanboys as being completely new and revolutionary while an equal amount of haters will scream "there's nothing new or innovative about this piece of crap, game x and y already did this" etc, etc, the game will finally be released!
And in the end everyone will end up playing the new Blizzard MMO, while at the same time hating it's guts (or pretending to on forums at least and try break free of it's addiction, and failing miserably to do so In other words, good times will be had by all, as always
With more money, time and experience Blizzard will be able to make an MMO much better than WoW. Also, being based on in entirely new world gives them free reign to go wild with its creation. Just wonder if this new world is going to be fantasy or sci fi. Course, why not make it both?

WoW is a giant, no arguement there, but let's not pretend that it's innovative in any way. If you want to see what's going to be in their next mmo, look at the other games out there, and take the best from each. That's the new Blizzard mmo.
i just hope they break away from the midieval theme and try something new. I am sick of these new games all with the same dwarves, fairies, and knights.

Actually thats just what the industry needs. I really liked certain elements of Vanguard, LOTRO, AoC and Warhammer, but all of them somehow failed to grab my attention for long and their bad points forced me away. Vanguard had a lack of polish, LOTRO got boring questgrind and lack of meaningful pvp, AoC also a lack of polish and to much zoning and WAR's PVE content simply was too weak in my opinion.
These games all had their good points, but the overal quality of WoW forced me back each time.
What is needed is a evil corporation to step in, steal the best ideas of current generation games and mold them together to a complete and polished enjoyable product. That evil corporation might as well be Blizzard, since they did it before.

No flame here I agree with you 100 percent.
The lore is there if people actually take the time to read the quests.

I'd rather it be Blizzard than SOE, or EA
