So don't try and pass that off as your motivation for not playing Darkfall. Every MMO is plagued by a vocal minority of dicks, douches, trolls, and griefers, whether it's a PvP MMO (PK'ing, ress killing, etc) or not (training mobs, kill stealing, etc). You are in no way obligated to chat with these people.
I don't care who follows which game. Mortal Online, Darkfall, F2P games, P2P games, micro games, whatever. But don't act a bitch and lie straight faced. You were either insulted and feel that you are somehow spiting the DF forum community by not playing (lol), or you're a fan of another game chipping at DF with the only thing you can really attack it for.

Firstly, do not attempt to tell me with which criteria I should rate a game. Community is big aspect in almost any game I play and as a result I will certainly refuse to play a game should I not like said community.

Secondly, though I may have the option of joining a mature clan, I will in no way be only subjected to them. Sure, guild chat is all very well and good, but it is not my guild with whom I'm interacting 80%+ of the time. It is the average player. That average player is not looking like someone I would like to play with. It's simple.

And lastly, think what you want but these petty insults fly right over my head. I have stood up for Darkfall in the past, but that does not mean that I will not make my voice heard where I feel it should be. Whilst you may enjoy the pathetic "community" the game seems to be building up, I certainly don't. To me that is a fact and there is absolutely nothing you can say or do that will change that. I will indeed pass that off as my motivation not to play the game whether you like it or not, and whether or not you believe it.

How ironic. I've been accused of getting insulted too easily and for taking cheap knocks at the game as a result, but this is a typical example of needing to take the forest out of one's own eye before the splinter in another's.

The Darkfall community is a mature one, but when kids (mainly from this site) come over there and start asking stupid questions  and screaming vaporware, what do you expect?
The Darkfall community at least has respect for people who like different kinds of games, unlike the MMORPG.com community.

That is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard.

How, then, do you explain the rampant childishness going on over in the Darkfall section from the Darkfall fans? I will be the first to admit that there is definitely vapourware trolls, but there is no doubt in my mind that there is just as many fanboys over on those parts.

    I take it you're a Darkfall fan...so let's analyse your post:

    1) You make sweeping statements and assumptions you have no way of backing up ("you talk bad about MMO's you know nothing about," for example)

    2) Somehow expect us to believe the Darkfall community is a mature one when simply reading through the hype list and game rating list on this site there are posts such as "looks cool but Darkfall is better!! - 1"

    3) In order to try and get your apparent point across, you result to personally attacking the members of this site as a whole. And of course you, being the all-knowing being you are, know the age of the general populace of this site.

    4) Despite the community's apparent maturity, it lacks the simple value of tolerance ("...when kids come over there and start asking stupid questions...") and clearly isn't in the least helpful or interested in educating and welcoming new people to the community (because, hell, such a niche game is going to need all the people it can get).

    5) You go around preaching respect yet you so blatanty disrespect the members of this site, when it's clear you're pissed off with the small minority (because, once again, the majority couldn't give a flying duck about Darkfall).

So please, next time you decide to post remember that you aren't talking to the Darkfall community and are in fact addressing a group of people that do not take kindly to BS.

Well this community is known to be the worst. That's cause of the people taking 'their' games so personal and can't stand anyone saying something bad about it. Yes even in Darkfall's section. Take a Manchester shirt on you and walk to a Arsenal bar and see what's happen. It's the same thing here. The difference here and over at the official site is that here we have to share the Pub and there we've have it for ourself.

And if you see the big picture; Many of those who post here are just as the Comic Book Guy in Simpsons. They're never wrong, and know everything about games and how they're developed (they'll think). And if they are proven wrong they just ignore it.

This is a gaming site, in the eyes of others we are nerds. But then we the nerds see who are the 'Comic Book Guy nerds'

    Finally, an intelligent post.

I completely agree. Sadly, my experience with the official Darkfall forums has been no better - far worse in fact. I'm not saying no one else should play the game, I am saying that I do not plan to at this stage.

I'd been there since 2001 and know how the community has been turned. It's just sarcasm but I don't like their attitude either, but I can handle them easy.

I think that many who joined Darkfalls forum got the impression of '-Oh yea, so this is how hardcore players are" and start acting just like them. But if you scratch the surface you'll see that this behaviur is from endless threads about the same thing.

But then they'll should have taken down the site until later, so I blame Aventurine as much as the community for it. But on the other side, if you read threads with something intresting you wont find flaming nor personal attacks. So I've just have to filter the board and read what's sounds intresting or somehting new.

    Easy isn't it

I don't read the official Darkfall board, but I do read other boards.  MMORPG.com seems to be just about the only one where people even post about this game consistently.  And even then, between the "fanbois" and "trolls",  a lot of the posts are from the same people over and over again.  I also see a lot of brand new members who jump right in and post ONLY there - I have a feeling a large number of those are gimmick accounts.  In any case, this is an MMORPG.com thing, I think.  Most of the Darkfall hype outside of the official board is right here.  If this game is actually released in a decent condition (and I'm certainly not saying it will be), I don't think you'll have to worry about the community from here affecting the game.  I should think they' would make up only a small part of the population.  If Darkfall's subscriber base is made up entirely of people from the Darkfall MMORPG.com forum, the game probably wouldn't have enough subs to keep it afloat very long, anyway.

The problem with MMORPG.com is nobody respects other MMORPGs. In the Darkfall forums people are fine with you not liking Darkfall, but we don't need you to post over here about how the game should have been.

That's the problem with the people here, they don't allow others to have different opinions about MMORPGs.

I suggest you take a good look at your own community before you complain about Darkfall's.

Isn't what you just said contradictory? You say that the problem with this site is that people don't accept others' opinions, but let someone post something in the Darkfall board that isn't completely positive and it's like a pack of wolves pouncing on a wounded deer.

As I've previously said, I will not deny that there are just as many trolls, but I have seen it happen time and again where a logical, non-flaming poster has been shot down simply for having an opinion that does not agree 100% with the fans.

It's the people that try to change the game that get flamed. The people that for some reason don't think there are enough WoW-like MMORPGs out there and try to make Darkfall one.

Why would we want to know you don't like Darkfall but WoW or EVE or any other MMORPG? Why would you post that on the Darkfall forums? I have played WoW for many years and nobody flames me for it, the Darkfall community is fine with people like other games, but you shouldn't try to change or Darkfall or come over to the forums to claim the game will fail, or it is vaporware.

Over here I get flamed because I say Darkfall isn´t vaporware, and I like Darkfall. I get flamed because I say I like Darkfall more than I like Mortal Online. The Darkfall community doesn´t want people to come over to the forums and make crappy threads about how much the graphics suck. But unlike this community, the Darkfall community is fine with people liking other games.

Once again, take a look at yourself before you whine about Darkfall´s community.

Whilst that may be your experience, it is not mine. I have seen people get flamed for the silliest and most innocent of things. It's as if the Darkfall community is unable to take the slightest hint of criticism.

What is this mystical "average player?" There are PLENTY of mature and/or RP-oriented clans heading for Darkfall. So many in fact that the region they inhabit would probably give you exactly what you say the game will lack. A world consisting of mature, respectful players, whether you're in clan chat, alliance chat, or visiting the towns of other mature clans.

Sure there will be places you may not be afforded much decency, but I don't think you'll be focusing on the chat console in those situations - more likely your health bar.

When I said don't pass that off as your motivation, I wasn't implying you couldn't repeatedly write "yes it is." I meant your posts are pretty damn transparent. The antics of trolls on a forum doesn't define the Darkfall community.

By your logic, the devs could tighten forum moderation, and the very same users (now simply told "behave or be infracted" like most other forums) would now reflect a good community in-game.

You're either stupid enough to believe this, or you're simply sore over something else and painting a portrait of yourself in an ivory tower.

I really don't understand what is so hard to grasp about this. Everyone has different experiences with in-game communites. Some people utterly despise WoW's community and say that it's the most childish thing they've come across. On my two servers, however, I had experienced the total opposite and personally rate the community as one of the best I've seen.

The exact same thing applies to Darkfall. Everyone has had different experiences with the community and everyone as a result has different perceptions of it. Mine has been bad. As a result I rate the "average" soon-to-be Darkfall player as someone I would not like to play with. It is a personal opinion as a result of personal experiences. No amount of arguing or insulting is going to change the fact that this is my perception. I honestly do not see what the problem with having an opinion that I haven't grabbed out of nowhere is?
