LOVED FFXI, Liked WoW

I was HUGE on FFXI. I thought the game had so much to offer. It just seemed like there was so much to do.  I liked the quests, I liked the difficulty, the crafting, the money, the auction house, the people, EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT.

However, the game is outdated and it seems as if no one plays it. It's just not the same anymore on my server.

I liked World of Warcraft it was a good change of pace game. Had a 70 Mage--the game just seemed too easy. I didn't like the fact that the game was super quest oriented it seemed so repetitive. Same quest, different area, different names etc...

I have tried a couple of MMO's like Star Wars Galaxy, Lineage II, and City of Heroes.

SWG was terrible in my opinion, Lineage II and CoH was alright--never got hooked though.

Are there any good MMO's out there? The game Aion looks promising. Should I just wait?

"Good" is relative also I don't suggest Runes of Magic as it isn't that difficult or unique of a game. It's more meant for someone's first or second MMO experience.

Anyways ...you didn't mention if you liked or disliked PvP so I have a few suggestions. EVE Online which is the most difficult MMO currently out. There is only one server so you don't have to worry about choosing the one with the highest population. However it has open PvP with full looting. There's a lot to the game so you're either going to love it or hate it. Of course it offers a trial.

The other game I suggest is Dungeons & Dragons Online. It doesn't offer crafting and has very little PvP, but it has pretty unique game play and is more group oriented compared to most other recent games. If you don't like instancing though I wouldn't suggest this game since everything pretty much is. This game also offers a trial.

My last suggestion is Atlantica Online. It's turn based, encourages grouping, F2P, has tons of crafting options, has PvP in the form of arena duels, and a ton of content to explore. After the tutorial you control three mercenaries and your main character. Later on you can control as many as eight mercenaries. Now the tricky thing is you have 30 seconds to pull off attacks for all your chracters and you can't group up for every difficult quest encounter. Looting also takes a turn and bodies do poof if the battle takes too long.
