Anything 25+ would be too much for me, so I just rounded up.

    In reality.

I have no problems paying $50 for an MMO. For people who think this is expensive, then go get another job, work extra hours at your current job, or stop blowing money on stupid crap like cigarettes and all the stupid crap that we end up buying on a regular basis.

So i'd pay $50 a month no problem if it can be guaranteed to me there are no bots, no dupes, no buying in-game currency for money, the game has good performance, and there's something to actually do that isn't a grind fest. Diablo 3 in 3d with hardcore server without any cheaters would be the one for me. But get the cheaters out if possible and i'd pay $50 for that.

I also want a game where level or your current status actually matters and your levels aren't a matter of time or paying some company to bot for you.

? So you don't want to pay for levels, that make sense, but you should get them instantly without spendiung time  on them? How does that work?

For a run-of-the-mill MMO, I think $20 is too much.

I would pay up to $30 maybe even $40 if I thought the game was worth it.  It would have to be jaw-dropping and flawless.

I definately think a higher monthly fee would work well for keeping the punk kids away.  This is a big reason why I don't play any free MMOs.  Over all this would produce a lower game population, but for me it's not the quantity of people, it's the quality.

This theory has been applied in bars many times over.  Raise the price of the drinks and on average you get a higher class of patrons.  The stumbling-drunk dregs stick to the bars with the cheapest booze.

This theory is not absolute, there will always be jags with money.

Impossible to give a clear cut answer. I'd pay a lot for something that came close to giving me exactly what I wanted but (currently) I won't pay anything at all if it doesn't. EQ1 only ever gave me about a third of what I wanted and I paid for that for years and years but I think that was only because it was my first game.

Like everyone says it depends greatly on a lot of things.
    -how good the game is
    -how much I am making
-how much time I have to play the game

$49 to 59 is standard for a new release at retail level.  I'm fine with that... I usually wait for most single player games to go down before I buy them.. but a new release MMO is worth the price to me.

I'd pay even more if it was a truly high quality product that a lot of development money was poured into...

I remember back in the day when "Yoshi's Island" came out it was the most expensive game ever... $79.00 I think... and it was amazing for that time period.

    I wouldn't pay any more than $20 a month for a MMORPG because I couldn't afford it.

And I would pay up to $60 or so for the game itself. More money if it had no monthly fees or very cheap monthly fees.

i voted 'just paying for an mmorpg is too much.'

im used to playing f2p so i don't really pay for anything. not even the item mall. if i reach the point where i'll need the item mall, i just stop playing entirely.

when it comes to testing p2ps, i have friends i can run to to borrow accounts and just to test the feel of the mmo. if the mmo looks good, i play a while then stop. if it's bad however, then i stop.

(oh btw, first post. yay! )

Well I guess it's a good thing that no MMO is worth paying more $20 per month

Any MMOG with an item shop or microtransaction system because they always cost more than a flat subscription plan.

I took it as per month, and it looks like most people did too. The initial cost of a game seems widely accepted for the most part. I only hear people usually complain about monthly fees.

I have no problem with the usual initial cost. Now, as far as monthly fee, the $15 per month is pretty good, but if something was quite good or exceptional, I would easily pay more. heh, if it was something virtual, like The World (from .hack, hehe) I'd pay in the hundreds easily.

Edit: Hmm ok, I double checked the poll and initial and per month were just mixed in together lol. No wonder I was thrown off. That is 2 questions really. People will have different thresholds for initial and per month and you can't really answer that in one poll.
