There'll be a lot of angry gamers, if they really pull this off.
I myself would just stop paying for any of their games. Hasta la vista, baby!

If this happens, Im out to.
What about those with a life-time sub?
Considering Turbine has a new game in production, it would be pretty daring to "scam" their loyal fans now. I hope and beleive it wont happen.
I'm trying not to get any sort of expectations up about this but I admit that I am really cringing at the prospect of them putting micro-transactions into the game. I'm sure they're considering it for any of the new games they may have under development, and that's fine -- I just hope they don't do an SOE and put micro-transactions into an EXISTING game, and one that has a subscription no less.
I'll wait and see, and hope for the best.
Can't really see Microtransactions coming to LotrO anytime soon, if for no other reason than the fact that the game is doing really well, it is after all the first post-WoW MMO to succesfully maintain a healthy population, both in NA and EU for it's first 1,5 years (with a planned launch in Asia) and then succesfully launch it's first expansion, and a well-received expansion at that, so population and reputation-wise there should be little reason for RMT at this time, seems to this humble hobbit that a move like that could only do more harm than any potential good
last i played (ok, been a while) this game was not gear driven much. So i can only imagine cosmetic stuff to appeal to players... i know quite some people who already had the game bought the gold edition just for the bonus items. So yeah, there is a market to be conqured.
have fun all
Big mistake for the North American market and the title of Lord of the Rings Online. If this happens for this game I am done with MMORPG’s for good. I am tired of these idiots in corporate America who are as trendy and stupid as the greedy idiots at AIG, and who take money for decisions in the US Congress. Well done idiots. The business model for the US is now official crap. It feels like another money making scam.
And to top it off I felt like I finally found a decent MMORPG that I was into. It smells like SOE now.

Lateris, it is actually a trend ( did you read the article? ), that started in the East, places like Asia. And its not the companies fault that there are thousands and thousands of people who BUY the items they have for sale. So dont beat up the American Market, beat up on the people that actually BUY pretty shoes or some crazy armours for thier characters. I also do NOT like this practice in MMO's. Maybe we need to get a petition started to steer this Idea out of Turbines mind.
Im not trolling or flaming you, but I do get upset when someone bashes a whole country over something that Country did not start in the first place. And if it generates money, then that means it works. This is an opinon just as your is, and I respect your opinon, just please do not be so aggressive with it.
If anything its for AC1, or some new game.

Agreed - I don't think they'd fark with LOTRO, the game is pretty solid as it is.
If anything, AC1, maybe DDO, or a new project will get Item Malls.
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....
Turbine is developing a new console MMO according to rumors, so I can imagine the microtransactions would be for that one.
Look at the recent backlash over the SOE EQ/EQ2 situation, and the rumor of RMT for SW:TOR. Turbine would be foolish to drop that into an existing successful game like LOTRO.

Thanks Mr. Bloodworth. I was concerned about this but I usually wait for all the information before I post about anything. Now that I have seen and read the quote it is obviously for something else they are coming out with.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
You guys better be ready for it in EVERY game.I saw a video about a year ago of many of the top execs out there, and when asked about Micro sales ,they ALL said they were looking into it.I do agree that is can really ruin a game, but there is some benefits.
Micro games if done even half ass,can really remove RMT acticity from a game.It also keeps that outside game money in the hands of the developer. The Developers do all the work and the RMT firms are raping millions from those games. It could make for some healthy developers, giving them cash they normally lose to RMT.It also gives a game a BUSY look,so playes want to join, just because there is so many players playing. The problem with this design,is that it is made to rape the spenders for more than a normal sub fee,to pay for the freebies, someone has to pay for the bandwidth.
What i would rather see,is games use in game sponsors. Then the sponsors could give away prizes such as free monthly subs or anything their sponsor offers.I remember playing on HEAT.net back in 1999 and they had sponsors who gave away prizes everyday,so it is for sure do able.Nvidia and ATI would be great as they would compete against each other[free video cards].They could even dedicate the EVENTS to sponsors and again give away some cool prizes. It is called a WIN WIN for everyone.
