I am for sure, I have never wanted to be a space ship. Being able to get out and walk around a station adds that last touch I looking for in a perfect game.
I find it to be the most interesting thing upcoming for MMOs.
Its got no combat, so they have to make it entertaining in otherways (For once) which is extraordinarily uncommon on these kinds of games. Trying to make things fun without, combat.
I'm definately anxious for its developement, i'll try it out. I tried EVE out once, but quit after 15 minutes. Maybe this part of the game will hook me a little longer though.
Will definately check it out when it hits. It certainly looks to be a very neat social aspect for the game and might just be that -little- bit more needed to hook me again.
tbh if you have tried eve and given up on it, then the ability to walk around isnt going to hold your interest either. eventually you are going to get back into your ship, and at that point, you will quit again.

I tend to agree, if walking around stations and socializing is the only reason you aren't playing EVE right now, I doubt the addition of it will make the game any more appealing to you in the long run.

I'm not really looking forward to ambulation. I've played plenty of other MMOs in the past and I don't really see what ambulation will add to my EVE experience.
If it doens't have combat and can't be controlled with WASD then I don't see the point in it.
then you probably are not an eve player to begin with...
diplomatic relations,
corp meetings,
down time when you are wating for skills or corp members to arrive (you can be a bar owner btw)
you want to get the point? check out the fanfest 08 they explain a lot about the ambulation and you might also want to check out the EVE lore to find out what or who exacly is inside of one of those pods...
I'm having fun in Eve now, but I'm definately looking forward to Ambulation. Card games, bars, (PC) corporate offices with functinal tools, a form of player housing. A lot of stuff that's not immediately related to the core game of 'Eve' but fun nonetheless. It'll broaden Eve's horizons considerably.
Im waiting for combat to become fun and interactive.

Im waiting for combat to become fun and interactive.
Probably not happening. Fanfest explains that they don't want to be a really fast paced game where you spam buttons.
Yeah, Eve turning into a game where reflexes count more than strategy would likely cause a mass wave of qutting that'd be NGE-worthy.
Eve is what it is - a game that was initially focused at a specific niche, and has been broading its horizons ever since, a strategy that's been working wonderfully so far. Why change a winning plan?
I'm not waiting for it but i'll be interested when it gets here. I plan on opening a bar for the fun of it. not ot mention learning the new mini-games, and the corp offices. Overall I think it will be a lot of fun.
Anyway back on topic, Ambulation is going to add a few nice none combat features that i9m looking forward to but to be honest Im more interested in the up and comming Xpac in March.
March Xpac will include, Tech 3, Worm holes, New Epic story Arc mission mechanic, New player experience.
Sounds alot cooler then just slow walking in a station and buying a beer.

Come on there is no real strat in eve.
most of the big changes battles so far have been won and lost with numbers and whoever the "server" favored. IE let xx number of ship in or didn't etc.
The real other strat is just getting and holding onto players / mercs.
Besides how would making the gameplay reflexive remove the stratagy? It doesn't have to. In fact most fps have more strat than eve does.
However, i guess i understand people not wanted to do this , but really how many people would quit becuase of this its and obvious boost to the game , the real issue is doing it right and they would have to work on it for 1 -2 years solid to accomplish/balance. But really the basis for eve to do this is so great and obvious i can't help but dream.
Every day fleet battles in eve go one fleet comes around the other corps fleets masses and the attackign fleet runs away/ logs off , whatever. Its so very cool and stratagized.
PS there is very little thought process to eves combat... infact the smallest of any mmo i have ever played. Now setting up loudouts, planning your character ahead, and playing the market take thought process and are enjoyable. However, the combat is dull and there is no thought to it other than toggle weapons/mods.

Best guess will be late summer early fall of this year.

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
The word comes from the Latin ambulare, which means "to walk". That a big enough clue for you?

Maybe it depends on what server they put it on.

Combat is fun...heck EvE is fun....for those of us with a IQ above 90.

I have an IQ above 130 and I think the game is boring. So I guess it isn't IQ so much as it personal taste and interests.
Of course you do........
