Turns out that those assumptions would be wrong. Blizzard has recently announced that the new MMO will be it’s own separate game, and not linked to WoW or any of the other games produced in the past by the company.
While I agree this is probably true
that news link doesnt quote anyone from Blizzard as saying that or give a source
from all the blizzard interviews ive seen,
the only thing Blizzard has made clear is that its not a Warcraft sequel
I honestly can't see Blizzard creating something new. They been living off everyone else's creations for years now and making a fortune. Why change if it works ?
Well... At some point they have to make a new game. They cant live with their graphics for next 20-years for instance. Now would not be a bad time to start planning about this as if they are going to make a new Behemoth into MMO scene they will have to spen developing it for atleast 5-years. Donw know what they will do with the development teams: will they take people from WoW design teams to design this, or whether they will gather lots of new personnel or what.
One thing is for sure. They do not lack the money to make it; and as a Blizzard game it will succeed if they even put some effort into it.
I honestly can't see Blizzard creating something new. They been living off everyone else's creations for years now and making a fortune. Why change if it works ?
Who's creations. Last time I read, warcraft, starcraft, and wow, and Diablo were all Blizzards games, and IP. So get a damn grip.

WOW and Starcraft was merely a copy of the Warhammer IP. Amazingly Diablo seems to be the only original concept they came up with.

Oh its the old, they copied warhammer line. Jesus get a dman grip please. Unless you know for fact they copied it then, you dont know shit. OH now your going to say warhammer isnt a copy of anything. Read the lore behind warcraft, its 100% different to anyhting warhammer is. So it has orcs, and elves its a copy? lol Hell maybe Gamesworkshop copied toilken?, hell maybe toilken copied someone else? hell maybe all fantasy comes from ancient stroies?
All games, movies, strories take ideas from somehwere, so get a bloody grip please. Unless your stating warhhmer is totally new and nobody has ever used orcs and elves etc.
I asked if he was concerned about the new MMO potentially cannibalizing “WoW” subscribers.
Kaplan said he wasn’t worried at all, and that the company was going to great lengths to make sure that the new game doesn’t directly cannibalize “WoW.”
it would have to be a completely different game not to take subscribers from wow.
Could it be a sandbox virtual world MMO with real crafting ? I can always dream...
WOW and Starcraft was merely a copy of the Warhammer IP. Amazingly Diablo seems to be the only original concept they came up with.
Warcraft and Warhammer are generic fantasy. They stole from D&D who stole from Tolkien who stole from myths and legends. You can really tell when someone has run out of good troll fodder to use against WoW when they trot out this tired relic.
Starcraft and Warhammer 40k share very little except for the designs of the human battle mechs and the bug aliens. However, the design of the bug aliens for both are rip offs of HR Giger's Alien design.
But, well, none of that will stop the Blizzard haters from declaring anything Blizzard does a rip off of something even though what they are defending is a rip off of something.
A fantasy MMO (It would be in direct competition with WoW and would most likely disappoint the player base)
It WILL, however, be
A new IP (They've stated this before)
That's... about all we know now.
As far as the WH vs. WC lore argument goes, many people have mistaken this for a similar fact. The lore and history of the Warcraft universe has nothing to do with Warhammer, or at least very very little. However, the art direction is heavily influenced by the Warhammer universe. The original Warcraft: Orcs and Humans game was originally designed as a Warhammer RTS, but Games Workshop turned it down because they didn't think it was up to snuff. The Warcraft universe was created out of necessity to seperate Blizzard's game from the Warhammer universe.
Blizzards new MMO will be known as "Grind Your Ass Off And Then We Will Make It All For Naught With Our Latest Expansion"
Enjoy!
and puke, possibly....
..don't you mean " World of Grind Your Ass Off and Then We Will Make It All For Naught With Our Latest Expansion"?...come on now.....think before you post.
Any Starcraft MMO (SCII is coming out) Any Diablo MMO (D3 is coming out) Any Warcraft MMO (That would just be stupid) A fantasy MMO (It would be in direct competition with WoW and would most likely disappoint the player base)
It WILL, however, be
A new IP (They've stated this before)

Of course it will be a fantasy based MMO and of course it will capture (intentionally) some of WOW's base. Your argument would make sense against launching two same-genre MMO's at the same time. However, WOW is four years old and getting older every day. It is high time for a successor (not necessarily a WOW2, but a fantasy-based successor).
Quote from Blizz's VP of product development:
Blizzard's vice president of product development, Frank Pearce, shares Sams' optimism: "At some point, some product’s going to come along and cannibalize the World of Warcraft player base, and if it’s going to happen, it’d be better for us to cannibalize our own player base compared to having another publisher do it."
I have yet to see any source for this - do you have one?
someone posted a link earlier saying according to Blizzard blah blah
but theres *nothing* quoting Blizzard or giving a Blizzard source
Yeah, last interview I read from Morhaime he sounded like he was working on World of Diablo, if he actually denied using a Blizz IP I must have missed it.
Blizzard havn't made a new IP for 10 years so I want to hear a actual statement from them before I believe that they are working on one. And I kinda doubt that they will pay for an existing one, so the only option to Diablo or Startcraft is making a totaly new. Blizzard have never ever used someone else IP.

It does not take a genius for Blizzard to figure out that another fantasy game will compete with WOW. I am willing to bet money that it will be sci-fi. They said it is a new IP but i have a hunch that it still may be Starcraft.

I want a scary MMO. Something like resident evil...where i can't play it unless I have every single light in my house on hehe
It will be a sandbox. And they will save MMORPG world. And everyone will live happily ever after.
