hey used to play a long time ago and thinking of giving it another try as the reason i quit before was because i decided i cant be spending half my life on a game and i've heard things have gotten faster now and etc

partially why i thought a good time to give it another try now, would be because of the welcome back to vanadiel campaign thing, though i dont have the 2 newest expansions.. would that hamper my experience alot? if i remember correctly im somewhere around lvl 42/21 mnk/war...

i read some of the other threads but decided to write my own... sorry to people who find this annoying

also im on hades server if memory serves me right... how are things on that server? thanks in advance ^^

First off ... you can't get to campaign without the newest expansion so it would hamper your experience a lot not to have it. Also campaign doesnt really get good until lvl 60 ... then the exp curve isn't as steep.

Also, as far as speed. You can still spend half your life playing this game. The level sync (which is what I think you are referencing the speed) will help you get partying presumabily faster, not level faster. It will eliminate the time lfp, but there will be days where invites can get slow. They have exp rings now which gives you a bonus % of your exp per 16 hours. I don't know if they had them when you left or not. You still need a million or so exp to get a job from 1 to 75 and level a full sub. I have played for 5 years now and I have 6 jobs to 75 (blm whm nin thf smn pup rdm ... damn i have 7 ... hmm) and I am someone who believes that real life is important and won't sacrifice real life for this game. So ... yeah you can play and still keep a life, might not keep many in game friends that way, but real life is more important anyway.

    thanks for the reply

and guess i will need the expansions then, sure there is a pack with everything in it but i'd rather just have to buy uht urgan and wotg seperately... oh and i havent been keeping up with all thats been happening or dont remember if it was in before? .. campaigns?

yeah they had exp rings when i played, i think they were introduced around my last days playing though.

maybe playing the trial first would be best, to get a feeling for the game again and whether i feel like playing it again. though i have to say that ffxi is still probably the most memorable game for me out of the 20+ mmorpgs i have played so far.

guess you couldnt say anything about hades because you play on another server? ^^

thanks for the reply once again =]

Me and my gf are trying the trial now too.

You can buy the 2008 edition either in a store or as digital download from FF site itself.

The 2008 edition contains all 4 expansions and is priced at $39,99.

    Cheers
