God - "Let us make man in our own image."

Who the hell was he talking to and why was he even discussing it? Does God really need permission?

God - "Turn the other cheek."

God - "Vengeance is mine"

God - "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."

So which is it? Do I let them beat the crap out of me, or do I beat them back?

If we were made in Gods image, why are we forbidden to look upon God?

When Moses was on that ark for 40 days and 40 nights, why didn't he swat those two damned mosquitos?

Discuss.

Another question, who is the 'our" in image? Is there more than one God, or does he just like to make himself seem more important than what he really is by pretending to speak for a group?

On the other hand, maybe he is nuts, and has multiple personalities. No wonder we're so fukked up.

    Another question for Dr Phil.

Perhaps God is really Bob Dole?

Probably because he is but ugly.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

I mean no offense when I say this.

I think that everything about the bible is bleh. Am I supposed to believe something that someone wrote...

Why does god need to hire people to do his bidding like Moses?   Why doesn't he get off his lazy arse and free his own people.   If he was realyy concerned with the plite of the Jews in Egypt he should have just made the Egyptians go away and give egypt to the Jews.

If Lucifer was Gods' right-hand man, and was the most glorious of the Angels, he must have been really something.

So him and God have a little tiff and God casts him down.

Now from my understanding, Lucifer has everything at his disposal as God does.

Yet the Bible clearly states how and why and when Lucifer will lose the battle.

    My question is:

If Lucifer is such a threat to God and humanity, are you telling me he CAN'T READ?

@ dlooney: Good question. guess God can't write.

So God can't write and Lucifer can't read.

    No wonder public education sucks.

Good question. God gave Moses the ability to part the Red Sea. But he won't let me part 5 o'clock traffic.

Why if revalations is true is God waiting?   Are you telling me he is a procastanator?  And if it requires the anti-Christ to do some stuff first....WTF is he waiting for?!   Seriously...we humans have all ready proven we're evil creatures.   So why are these two waiting?

I agree, make with the doing.  Lets get this show on the road.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

How the frak did Noah get all those species into the Ark?  It was all ready proven that it would have been mathematically impossible to cram that many animals into such a small boat.   Let's say he did manage...using some quantum physics we have yet to master(::boggle::) and then the boat came to rest on the mountian...how the frak did all the animals get to every corner of the earth?   What about diseases among the various species?   Wouldn't it be like when the spanish came to the new world and spread small pox?

So many questions...and no answers.   Why?  Why can't they tell us how theyt accomplished these awesome incredible feats?

I think it has something to do with suspending your disbelief and just accepting it all... to what end I do not know and never understood.

Ah...that explains how I was duped into playing so many crappy MMORPG's...I suspended disbelief.

Thats one thing that I could not do. I could not just blindly follow someone or something that I don't even know exists.

No that's just having copious quantities of hope, suspending disbelief would be thinking that Darkfall is out already.

I've always stuck with the belief that we and all things around us are like electrons and protons and atoms of something much larger, much like the atoms that we are made of. Maybe we're bacteria or parasites, the planets are atoms, galaxies are molecules, all forming something we have no understanding of.

Maybe we are the bacteria, on an atom, that is part of the millions of molecules that make up god.

Disclaimer: I am an Agnostic, I do not believe in any god, my views are not to be taken with the credibility of someone who does believe in the God of Abraham.

Has anyone ever thought that if God did make us in his image, and if we are sinful, greedy, lying, mistaken bastards: is it not possible that God, himself, is not infallible?  That he could make mistakes, could be hypocritical, malevolent and vengeful?  Could not the mistakes of man be the mistakes of God?  I do believe that humanity is overall good, yet very, very naive. A few bad apples with a position of power cause most of the war and injustice in this world; this is very evident.  Compared to humanity, God is an awesome power of good, but that doesn't mean he would be infallible.  Hell, humanity is probably God's biggest mistake.

So you completely skipped the disclaimer that Zorvan put in the opening post?  Reading is a magical thing.  It can take you to worlds only found in your imagination and pull that rather large, rigid stick out of your anus.

We do not discriminate.  Let me prove it.   Buddhism is suppose to be this peaceful religion yet the monks and priest of this religion practice martial arts...with weapons!!!!!!!!!!!

he said philisophical discussion and occasional humor, and i see the exact opposite in this thread. And by putting "oh dont be offended!" in a disclaimer is pointless as well, especially when you put shoddy quotes and discussion material in the OP.

Hey, this thread is the least hateful of all christianity threads i've ever read on this forum, for the most part we are being respectful.  No one has flamed christianity nor those who believe in it.  And no, age does not mean maturity, and this is not a good example of that.  You are getting offended at peoples views, not personal nor communal attacks.

i dont mind people posting their views on a subject, as long as they are respectful to other people in their "views"
