In my opinion there is no similar mmo at the market today , so my question is what to do if this game will realy be closed (i still cant belive) ?
Go play Planetside if you enjoy the PVP.
If you are looking for fast paced and good combat try DDO. If you want sci-fi and like TR, you are out of luck, but then again TR did not do so good there either.
So far it seems like TR really will be closing, nothing has been heard AFAIK on that front of any possible way to save it. It just never had the population needed to make money.
There are no interesting or good mmo's out there atm in my opinion. Except EVE. Everything else is so god damn overproduced or bombarded with kids. Sucks that TR is going down

I played EvE from the beta and cant see it enymore (maby when the walking in stations update comes).
PlanetSide is not for me (this is a different type of game) and DDO is this kind of game i dont even try.
All this fantasy games are not my world , thats why i like TR and dont realy care if it is buggy or unstable.
Sure TR needed more money and more content for endgame (what in my opinion the major problem was , why the people left the game). But if it will be closed , they lose all this work and time and this is realy sad.
There was another good SF game coled Earth & Beyond and was closed. Too bad the devs dont appreciates the own work.
I have high hopes for Stargate. I am an old Vet from SWG and had been looking for a good SciFi MMO and TR was good for me. It had its problems but it had a good concept and had alot of protential to really become something if they would have just added end game content. I think the community would have been able to get through the bugs if there was something to do at the end. I wanted them to add a planet that you could have player housing and cities like SWG. But oh well. Someday there will be a good Sci - Fi MMO.
I know this much, i wont be buying another title that has a NCsoft logo...They could have gone with the guild wars model, for us that paid for the DVD's or cd's like we did with guild wars. But they instead closed the game down... i still look at my auto assault dvd's and clean the dust off the box... everytime i do i get a bit more pissed at ncsoft. They could have copywrited everything and released it under the GPL
Open source licence. Or released a patch that allowed us to at the very least play the game in singleplayer mode. Now they are closing TR.... whats next guild wars, Aion.... I aint buying Aion.
Im Playing savage 2 and Mount and blade right now, waiting on Darkfall if it is good.... im not subbed to any MMOGs right now, nothings out worth a damn to spend time on. Planetside 2 if it evr came out or call of duty online, otherwise nothing noteworthy is coming out in the future. Its just a wash rince and repeat of the ol lvl class system. Im sick of cookie cutter classes and the lvl rope a dope...

Just because that model of payment worked for GW does not mean it would work for or was feasible for TR. TR was losing money every month. It made no sense to stay open when the game was half finished as an MMO and already cost over 100 million between making the game and money paid to RG to get him.

Planetside really is not that different if you like PVP. It is Sci-Fi and has a lot of the things TR missed out on such as real snipers and vehicles.
DDO has fast and fun combat and if you do not try it how can you know you will not like it? Try a free trial and see.
I did not find TR buggy or unstable, I found it boring after level 30 or so and lacking end game and that is why I quit.

Sure but what do they get from just shutting it down, the same result, at the very least going GPL would allow more sales of the title, The content is copywritten so others cant steal thier assets, And the game doesnt just die, It can be played from the comfort of my and others pc. Auto assault and TR were built on a single player experience so the transition for NCsoft toallow the gamer to be played in a offline single player form is quite do- able and would be just the same as me going to the store and buying a single player game off the shelf. They could do this and sell the game at the ncsoft store, and maybe even release a mod tool kit if they sell enough copies.
I dont belive in games just closing down, when there are Things like GPLing that can be used.

The problem being that doing so would require then to sell the game to retail outlets again. Gamestop has put their copies in the trash already. The GW pay model may have worked had they went with it from the start. Switching over now would incur more costs.
I kinda floated around a bit when TR's closure was announced. I tried some trials for a few popular and soon to be released games.
-Spellborn - Combat is fast and fun, but the quests are your standard fare. No AH and still has plenty of other core MMOG features that need to be added. I loved the game though and will definitely check in on it again in another few months.
-LotRO - Nice graphics, polished, and generally well done. But totaly not my thing. Everything I did I felt like I had done before. I've never played a new game and gotten such a 'been there done that' feeling.
-DDO - Love it. I am bringing a prebuilt group with me. No complaints. It would be frustrating for those who like to solo, but still like to have the activity of other players running around. Its honestly the best MMOG I have played in years. Unless you're physically alergic to elves then you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not trying it.
I am watching Darkfall and Champions as well as Jumpgate, but brand new MMOG's are always lacking in some critical area. MMOG's need 6-12 months to cook before they are really good. Too bad TR never got that opportunity.
They look very promising. Fallen Earth pulling ahead in my eyes due to the 6 faction dynamic.
It's gotten to the point where some MMOs have been reduced to little more than success dispensers. Don't think. Don't challenge yourself. Do as little as possible... but still be rewarded for it. Yeah.. *that's* fun.

Looking at the state of things now, Richard Garriot was the downfall of NCSoft and largely responsible for their current strategy of retreating back into their core Korean market for most of their future development. The money they lost had to have effected their entire product line and plans for future expansion.
How a guy who's previous games were known for their depth could have produced such a shallow game so lacking in content is beyond me.
I enjoyed the beta, but it was obvious after maybe 10 hours of play that the game world and content was maybe 10% of the minimum required for an MMORPG.
I'm now in the same rut many seem to be in. What the heck is worth playing right now? I keep hoping to stumble upon some low profile, indie or Asian game that surprises me with how good it is. It's unbelievable that there seem to be few, if any, hidden gems among the multitude of games in the genre.
I did play Bioshock and Fallout 3, enjoying both a lot. I'm beginning to wonder if I won't be heading back to the single player PC games for a while, something I had almost completely abandoned when I got hooked on MMORPGs many years ago.
The games I'm looking forward to are DC Universe, Stargate Worlds, Star Trek Online and The Old Republic. I might try out the Slayer in Warhammer but... I think I'm done with fantasy-based MMORPG's for a while.
I'll miss Tabula Rasa, though. The untapped potential in that game is unbelievable.

Stargate ~ uses the same engine and has a very similar look....release is this year I believe!
I need to read about it , bevore i can comment this game , but i hope your right

I will be waiting for Star Wars the Old Republic with my new guild, Concord Dawn.
Also gonna watch for Darkfall, Earthrise and Stargate. Going to look into CoX until then.
Keep an eye on Fallen Earth and Earthrise.
